Demonic Pornstar System-Chapter 139: Accused
Chapter 139: Accused
- Kaiden’s Wife: Amazing job, Kai and future sisters! I was on the edge of my seat this whole fight... Wow...
- Lady Leia: God damn. I usually caress my little sis throughout such streams using my Secret Kaiden Stash as assistance material, but I had to pause for the duration of the battle.
- Princeless Princess: You two b*tches are unhinged. Take a chill pill, please.
- Princeless Princess: Excellent job, Valhalla’s Sinners! You’re in the league of respectable combatants now!
- Corn Addict: What a battle...
- Shadow Warrior: Boy, am I glad I grabbed popcorn beforehand.
- Thirsty247: Look, the fangirls are at each other’s throats.
- TouchGrass: When aren’t they?
- Thirsty247: Kaiden senpai is amazing...
- DeleteYuumi: But we gotta admit the ladies more than pulled their weight in this fight.
- Lapdog of the Empress: SUPREME EMPRESS!!!!! This lowly one has been forced onto all fours at the sheer weight of the Empress’s presence! This loyal servant feels unworthy of standing when his Empress is in front of him!
- TouchGrass: She’s not in front of you but on your mind’s screen...
The chat erupted into a myriad of comments. The viewers’ emotions have been reserved throughout the difficult battle, but now that it was finally over, they felt it was time to let it all go. It was a release of tension, a communal catharsis shared by thousands who had been silently gripping their seats, unable to look away.
However, any chatting paused when Vaelira stomped her way toward Kaiden’s group with fury. The blonde woman pointed a finger at him as she accused, "I saw you four cowards! You watched the ongoing scene from a safe distance for many valuable seconds instead of helping your allies!"
- Lady Leia: What nonsense is this ugly whore spouting?
- Kaiden’s Wife: ???
- Princeless Princess: The galls!!
Just like the viewers, the recipients of her words were utterly shocked. If the accusations weren’t ridiculous enough in their lonesome, the fact she started pointing fingers instead of checking on the injured only made it worse. As if this was their cue, Leon, Jack, and Sasha collected themselves and closed in to have the back of their boss.
"What are you even talking about?" Aria asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Don’t you dare pretend to be innocent," Vaelira scoffed before pointing behind herself, right at her camera. "Over ten thousand people saw you stand still, watching the fight. I have the footage."
Nyx’s eyes were reduced to fiery slits, pure anger oozing from her being. "Are you talking about the five seconds we spent strategizing on how to best help our allies instead of rushing in like headless chickens and getting killed in the process?"
Vaelira shook her head, dismissing her point. "Five seconds could’ve saved Ian from his death, even if Rebecca was a lost cause. How can we trust you people if you’re going to hold a team meeting at every emergency? Also, aren’t you awakened combatants? We can’t always afford the luxury of strategizing!"
Kaiden’s gaze turned dark as his eyes interlocked with Vaelira’s. In her eyes, he saw no hatred. She was not even mad at them. This woman was just an opportunistic bitch who used the chance to make herself appear strong in front of her viewers and teammates while also kicking Valhalla’s Sinners down a peg. It wasn’t hard to guess she felt jealous of the girls’ generous genetics. She was ready to do anything to make them look worse than her.
What made their position difficult was that there was a bit of truth to her statement. Yes, they could’ve rushed in with reckless abandon, but Kaiden valued their safety significantly higher than that of his allies. It was logical not to expect mercenaries to sacrifice themselves for their contractors, but calling them out on doing so was also reasonable.
However, Kaiden didn’t believe what they’d done was bad enough to receive this treatment. They rushed in fearlessly after a few short seconds, ready to throw their lives into the mix to bring the monster down. They coordinated with their allies to their utmost ability. It wasn’t like they abandoned their contractors.
A quick look at his chat told him his viewers agreed, but he also noticed that a couple hundred Vaelira fanboys joined in and began talking shit about the four of them being cowards.
Kaiden addressed the accusations while glaring deep into Vaelira’s gaze. "We acted in line with what one might expect of trained professionals. For a brief few moments, we discussed how to best deal with a monster we’ve never even heard of before, let alone had experience fighting. Then, we threw ourselves into the fray, taking on more than our fair share of the danger. If we were to calculate who dealt the most damage, the four of us would outdo the rest of you, members of Nova Circuit."
"Maybe so, but that’s because we were busy tanking its attacks so you could sneak in and attack at the best moments!" Jack shouted while gripping his mace with all his might, making veins pop on his arm. ƒreewebɳovel.com
At this, Luna, who’d been watching the ongoings with a hateful expression, spoke up. But when she did, her expression had shifted, just as her lips turned upward into one of extreme coyness. Her eyes found their way to Vaelira.
"You’re accusing us of very ugly things, Nova Circuit. Since we’re already pointing fingers, allow me to throw my lot in as well," she said, clearing her throat theatrically before continuing.
"We have an A-tier awakened among us low tiers who did nothing but cast a single spell and then make ridiculous hand gestures as if she was in the theatre while shouting orders, making me think she was our basketball coach. Kaiden fought an A-tier combatant in an Awakened Duel in the past—which he won, of course—but his enemy curiously cast many, many spells in the short few seconds it took for Kaiden to pummel the shit out of him. Are you telling me the Puppeteer is such an inferior class to the Archmage that it only has a single good combat spell while the latter has a whole damned arsenal?"
Vaelira’s smile faltered immediately. Her three lackeys tensed, looking at their boss for guidance on how to react.
Hearing their friend’s/girlfriend’s statement, the rest of Valhalla’s Sinners couldn’t help but examine the blonde woman with dismissive eyes.
It was true. She only cast [Summon Legion]. After a mere second, they understood what was going on perfectly well.
Vaelira was conserving her mana. And not just that—she had likely calculated every move she made, from her spell choice to her dramatic finger-pointing. She wasn’t careless. She was cold and calculating.
She was currently on the bench, fulfilling guard duties, after which six hours of hunting awaited her. She knew many of them would share the XP gained from this dune maw kill, so she only did the bare minimum, casting a spell that cost just enough that her reserves would be refilled by the time it was their turn to head out.
"So you’re accusing your leader of nonsense now, huh...? I see how it is... Damned mercs..." Vaelira growled. "My job as team leader is more than casting spells or rushing in like a brute. I’m the centerpiece of the team. Getting clear instructions is how a group with so many fighters can coordinate efficiently."
