Chapter 58: Kill Issac

Of course, Aldric did not go searching for Islinda as he had claimed, rather he had a destination in mind: the market. To be honest, he had to thank Islinda for putting these new plans of his into perspective.

He passed through the village and while people gave him a second look, no one approached him. Thanks to Remy, he has been socializing with the villagers, and for once, his good looks worked in his favor. Most of the women were smitten with his features and some even went ahead to pinch his cheeks - a move that would have gotten their hands cut off if he wasn’t pretending.

They swoon over him, wishing to have an adorable child like him. If only the stupid humans knew what they were wishing for. Humans had to be careful with what they prayed for, because if he was a Fae witch, that was a done deal. Thankfully, there were limits to his powers. He wasn’t omnipotent. No Fae was.

The humans were only attracted to his physical attributes and if they knew what lay beyond the surface, they would curse and kick him out like his own people did. They forgot although he’s a dark Fae, he’s also half winter Fae. While dark Fae has a sadomasochistic streak, they aren’t entirely without compassion.

After all, winter still has its mild days; it is not an unrelenting blizzard. Not to mention, Fae’s usually aren’t innocent either. Their kind generally are known by humans for their viciousness, what then gives the other courts the right to judge them for their nature? But Aldric has given up long ago on being accepted and preferred the way he was.

Aldric made it to the market when he sensed he was being followed. At first, he thought that Valerie tracked him down considering their close encounter lately, where his brother almost found him out. However, if Valerie knew he was here, he would have barreled into him already and they would fight with their powers unhampered, not caring they were in the human realm and the casualties that might be caught in the middle of their conflict.

This was someone else and Aldric already had an inkling who it was. While he did not expect that the boy would follow him blindly, he was not pleased with him trying to find out his plans. There would be no interference whatsoever.

Hence, Aldric quickly cut to a side alley between a stall and a building, leaping onto the roof of the house before a human could spot him. Just as he thought, minutes later, the cloaked figure followed, looking around as he had lost him.

It wasn’t until the last minute that Issac realized that he had messed up because he was suddenly pushed into the wall and a full-grown Aldric was snarling in his face,

"What did you think you’re doing by following me?"

His eyes grew wide when he realized that Aldric’s features were exposed and any human who stumbled upon them would know what they are.

Aldric must have sensed what he was thinking because he said, "I cast a glamor on the both of us and we’ve actually camouflaged with the wall behind you. So I suggest you speak now! What are you up to, Issac?" He tightened his vice grip around his neck.

"Fine, I’ll speak," Issac rasped and Adric let go of him, his stern gaze never leaving him.

"I suggest you speak now, I have a place to be and I don’t have much of a patience."

"I think your brother Prince Valerie is enamored with a human."

"Really?" Aldric let out a pretend gasp, placing a hand on his chest dramatically, "That is quite shocking."

But Issac was not done because he added, "And I believe you plan to take advantage of that and ruin him. Isn’t that why you want him to remain in the human realm? For him to fall deeper with the woman when you knew clearly that it would not bound well for him?"

He took a step back away from Aldric, shocked as he pieced the connection together. Issac looked at the prince he was made to serve, "You wish to take the throne of Astaria." He gasped, "It’s all part of your plans."

"Correction," Aldric said, his expression completely blank, "I’m merely taking back what should be mine. But the question is, what would you do with this piece of information?"

Issac swallowed, his feet stuck to the ground as he recognized the menace oozing off Aldric. The dark prince was going to kill him. Aldric’s reputation preceded him and he knew the prince had no emotional attachment towards him unlike Maximus, yet Issac did not expect he would die here.

"I told you, I don’t do well with betrayal, Issac." The prince said languidly but his demeanor was crisp and poised to attack.

"The other courts would not stand still and see you take the throne, not to mention your father -"

"I would take care of my father!"

Issac blanched, "You would kill the majesty, the king?" fгeewebnovёl.com

Aldric tilted his head thoughtfully, " I’m not so barbaric as to end my own father, I have my methods."

However, the look Issac shot him showed he did not believe him one bit. Even though he was his master, Isaac was pretty much prejudiced towards him like the others, Adric reasoned. But then, Issac was merely protecting the welfare of his people. He could not allow war to erupt in the fae realm because of Aldric’s selfish purposes.

"You would put the Fae realm in jeopardy so you could be king?" Issac asked him.

Adric shook his head, "It seems that our views don’t align after all. Sadly, I don’t keep people who would end up ruining my plans. Perhaps, only my own kind would understand after all."

"Kill me if you would but my dedication remains with my people. I would protect them even at the cost of my life."
