Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle'-Chapter 345: Hype Gone Wild
Chapter 345: Hype Gone Wild
Selina’s eyes darkened for a moment, then she replied lightly, "I was badly hurt, but I got through it."
Ethan let out a low whistle. "That’s honestly a miracle."
Selina lowered her gaze. Yeah, a miracle.
Her memories from four years ago were hazy. After recovering from her illness, a lot of things became a blur. All she remembered was that she had saved someone, lived with him for almost two weeks, and then Angelica’s people came after her.
When she woke up again, Uncle Gordon and her brothers wouldn’t say a word about how she got hurt. She tried looking into it but found nothing, except that Angelica was behind it.
If luck hadn’t been on her side, she would’ve died back then. And yet Angelica...
Why did the would-be killer get to live so comfortably, looking glamorous, standing at the top as the Morris Family heiress?
Selina tilted her head slightly. Strange... where had she met that man? Where exactly had the attack happened? Why couldn’t she remember anything clearly?
Logan tapped his fingers on the table, forcing down the rising rage in his eyes, mind fixated on one thing—four years ago.
Four years ago, when he was blind and on the brink of death, a girl saved him. They hid together, moving place to place to escape those hunting him. Then, she disappeared. And somehow, Angelica took her place.
Selina got her injury four years ago too. Could everything have happened in the same time frame? Was it just a coincidence?
After Ethan finished treating her, he stepped outside with Logan.
"You wanted to ask me something?" Ethan said.
Logan frowned. "What caused the scar on her neck?"
"Hmm... based on a preliminary assessment, it looks like the wound was caused by a knife. But the scar doesn’t look like it was made in a single cut—it seems more like someone repeatedly cut the same spot several times. Judging by the pattern of the scar, the person holding the knife probably wasn’t very strong—either a woman, a small-framed man, or maybe the blade itself wasn’t sharp enough. That would explain why it took multiple cuts to go that deep. In any case, it’s a stroke of luck that the attacker wasn’t stronger, or the knife sharper—otherwise, Selina might not have survived."
Logan’s expression grew darker. "So she went through all that pain... for a long time?"
Ethan nodded. "Yeah. Whoever it was clearly hated her. If they just wanted her dead, they’d have used a faster method. This was meant to make her suffer."
Logan slowly closed his eyes. "...She never told me."
And he, as her husband, never even asked.
Who had done that to her? Had they paid for it yet? Should he make them?
Ethan shook his head. "It’s not your fault. From what I can tell, she’s probably forgotten what happened."
Logan narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean?"
"Sometimes when a person goes through extreme trauma, they’ll subconsciously block the memory. I think Selina fits that. And you mentioned Gordon and Gavin were hiding things from her? This could be it. Maybe what she went through was so bad that they decided it was best to let her forget."
"They probably didn’t want her to relive the pain."
Logan slowly curled his fingers into a fist. "Ethan, help me investigate something."
...
The next day, after class, Selina was walking down University Road when she overheard a few people talking.
"Poor Selina..."
"It’s honestly hard to watch. That cheating jerk and that shameless homewrecker—how can they show their faces? What’s Selina supposed to do now?"
"She worked so hard to get here. After everything Angelica did to her, now this..."
"Keep your voice down! Some of those big celeb fans go to this school too. You don’t want trouble."
"I just can’t stand seeing Selina treated like this!"
Selina was confused.
Why were people feeling sorry for her?
Before she could figure it out, a group of girls walked up to her with sympathetic expressions.
"Selina... don’t take it too hard, okay? Everything’s going to be fine."
"Yeah! You’re a student at City A University. You’ve got a bright future ahead of you. There are tons of guys out there—once your career takes off, you’ll have your pick of all the hot, sweet guys!"
"Exactly! And don’t let the online comments get to you. It’s just a bunch of brainless stans losing it over their idols. If it ever gets to be too much, just come hang out on campus. We’ve got your back."
Selina thanked them politely, still confused, and got into the car. She scratched her head, pulled out her phone, and opened Twitter.
Her eyes immediately narrowed.
One of the top trending stories was a juicy piece of gossip about two powerful families:
"Morris Family Heiress Expecting – A Reid & Morris Alliance Is On the Horizon."
Within just a few hours, the post had been retweeted by over a dozen celebrities—some of them A-list, none lower than B-list.
Combined, their fanbases were massive. The post had already crossed a billion views, with an overwhelming number of shares and comments.
Worse, massive fan accounts with tens of millions of followers had jumped in to ship the "couple." They edited videos, wrote fanfics, photoshopped images, even drew fan art. Overnight, the Logan x Angelica "ship" had taken the internet by storm.
Some fans even dug up old videos—Logan’s interviews, his birthday celebrations with Selina—and literally edited Selina out, replacing her with Angelica.
A video of Logan confessing to Selina? Now he was confessing to Angelica.
A clip of Logan lovingly watching Selina? Now he was staring at Angelica.
Even though Selina knew it was all part of Angelica’s PR campaign, the bile still rose in her throat.
The design competition had always been a niche event, mostly followed by people in the industry and Angelica’s fans. Her fanbase wouldn’t admit to plagiarism, and designers didn’t have enough public clout to fight the noise.
And now, with the ship fandom taking over the internet, there was no stopping it.
In the face of traffic and popularity, as long as people liked it, Angelica’s scandals would all be swept under the rug.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Damien.
"Damien?"
"I just saw what’s happening online. Why didn’t you tell me?"
He’d been filming in the middle of nowhere with no internet—someone else had told him.
Selina shook her head. "I only just found out."
Damien sounded pissed.
"I did some digging. The man behind Starlite Motion is Joe. It’s the third-largest agency in the industry. Most of the celebrities who reposted that tweet are connected to them."
Selina’s eyes narrowed.
"You’re saying... those celebs reposted it because Joe told them to?"
"Yeah." Damien’s voice dropped. "They played it fast, clean, and ruthless. In one day, they made the ship explode. If we try to counter it now, it’ll only trigger backlash."
Angelica and Joe probably knew that too—which was why they didn’t hold back.
Selina raised a brow.
"I don’t know the entertainment industry that well... In this kind of situation, how do you get shippers to back off?"
