Chapter 340: Testing the Results of Her Studies

Selina: "..."

Yep. This was definitely Logan coming to settle accounts.

But how was she supposed to explain this? She couldn’t just throw Luke under the bus—especially not after he’d gone so far as to claim he liked men just to cover for her.

Selina, loyal to a fault, racked her brain under Logan’s deepening gaze. Then suddenly—lightbulb moment.

"Logan, you misunderstood! I was actually there to learn something."

Logan raised a brow. "You went to a bar... to learn?"

"Yes!" Selina said, completely serious. "You might not believe it, but I was doing it for you."

Logan: "..."

Well, she was right about one thing—he didn’t believe it.

Selina clenched her teeth and doubled down. "I went to learn how to make you happier!"

Logan’s brow arched higher. "Go on, I’m listening."

"You know I’ve only ever dated that jerk Ryan, and even that doesn’t really count. I don’t have any real dating experience, so I wanted to understand what kinds of things men like. What kind of gifts they enjoy, how I should treat you, what I can do better."

She started to believe her own story, too. "But I don’t know many guys, and my classmates at school aren’t exactly experienced—so I figured, men at bars have seen it all. That’s why I went. Logan, how could you think the worst of me?"

There was a long silence.

Then Logan’s lips curved into a slow smile. "Is that so?"

"That’s right!"

"Alright. Got it." He turned and walked toward the door. "Let’s go. Time to head home."

Selina blinked.

Wait—what?

That’s it?

He just... believed her?

She had snuck out to a bar, surrounded herself with a dozen gigolos, and not only was Logan not mad—he was driving her home?

Her heart swelled with emotion. The feeling stayed with her through her post-shower routine.

Luke had been put to bed in the guest room. Logan had showered in another bathroom so Selina could use the main one.

Half an hour later, she stepped out in a robe. "It’s late. Why aren’t you in bed?"

"I was waiting for you."

"For what?" she asked, puzzled.

"You said you went to the bar to learn something."

He paused, voice low and husky. "So now, I’m here to test your results."

Selina: "..."

Wait. Test the results—what results?!

Before she could react, her robe slipped to the floor. A chill passed over her bare skin, making her shiver.

Logan’s fingers lightly traced her collarbone, a playful smirk on his lips.

"In Mrs. Reid’s lesson plan... I assume marital duties were included too?"

Selina’s brain went blank.

So this was what they meant by "hoist with your own petard." She wasn’t getting any sleep tonight, that was for sure.

...

The next morning at 10 a.m., Luke finally sobered up—only to find Selina still hadn’t come downstairs.

He was shocked. "How is someone sleeping in later than me? Selina’s actually sleeping in?"

Logan, knowing exactly why Selina was still in bed, paused slightly as he set down the newspaper. "Why did you go to the bar last night?"

Luke muttered, "Because you stirred up some love drama."

"Because of Angelica?" Logan’s gaze darkened.

"Duh!" Luke flared up. "How can someone be that shameless? Saying she’s pregnant with your kid—what’s her next move, trying to marry in by playing the baby card?"

"No need to get worked up."

Luke got more worked up. "And that’s not all..."

He hesitated, then said more quietly, "Mom and Dad even let Angelica move into the Reid estate. Said it was so she could rest during the pregnancy. Now the gossip’s everywhere—people are saying since Angelica’s been taken into the Reid Family, the baby must be yours. Are they all out of their minds?"

Logan narrowed his eyes.

They’d brought Angelica into the Reid Family...

It wasn’t his child, yet his so-called "biological parents" were rushing to claim it as their own.

"Angelica’s got the Morris Family backing her too. Joe always had such a great reputation—I’ve met him before, seemed like a reasonable guy. I didn’t expect him to turn into someone who can’t even tell right from wrong, all for Angelica."

Luke muttered under his breath, "Logan, what are you planning to do about this?"

"Handle it?" Logan finished the last sip of his coffee, calm as ever. "Naturally... I’ll collect evidence. I’m a law-abiding citizen, after all."

Luke: "..."

Why did that sound so ominous?

...

Upstairs.

When Selina woke up, her whole body ached. She gritted her teeth and struggled in bed for a while before finally sitting up.

She was cleaned up, neat and tidy—but that deep, bone-deep feeling wouldn’t go away.

...That damn man. What did he think she was, a bone to be chewed up and gnawed on from head to toe?

Logan, ever the gentleman, brought breakfast to her room. After eating, Selina crawled back into bed and started scrolling on her phone.

#AngelicaPregnant

#AngelicaBabyLoganReid

Three trending hashtags lit up the platform, and Selina raised an eyebrow.

She scanned the comments, her expression darkening. It was obvious—the Morris Family had stepped in.

At first, the comments were relatively balanced:

"Wait, Angelica is pregnant with Mr. Reid’s kid? But Logan’s married... is this cheating or is she trying to climb the ladder?"

"This is sketchy. Angelica’s way too close to her sister’s husband. One minute she’s exposed for setting up her sister, the next minute she’s moving into Reid Family’s house? Major green tea vibes..."

"That poor baby. Angelica’s supposed to be the eldest daughter of the Morris Family. Maybe she should just terminate the pregnancy—no need to ruin someone else’s marriage. Her adoptive mom was a mistress, does she want to be one too?"

But soon, the comments turned bizarre. Ordinary users couldn’t even post. Anyone who didn’t support Angelica was getting banned or warned.

"Doctors already said if Angelica aborts this child, she might never get pregnant again. Are you monsters seriously trying to take away a woman’s right to be a mother? It’s her baby—she has every right to keep it! Selina needs to back off!"

"Oh my God, is Mrs. Reid forcing Angelica to get an abortion? What a b*tch! Why is she pushing Angelica to the edge?"

"Illegitimate children have equal inheritance rights now. Angelica’s baby is the future heir of Reid Group! Selina better be nice, wait on Angelica hand and foot during her pregnancy. If her kid inherits Reid Group, maybe he’ll toss Selina a bone someday!"

Selina’s eyes narrowed. When she saw that line about "equal inheritance rights between illegitimate and legitimate children," it suddenly clicked.

No wonder Angelica had been brought into the Reid Family.

That was the real game plan.
