754 -754: The Fall of a Quasi-Saint, Heaven and Earth Lose Their Color
In the mortal world, within a valley.
A young man and woman were enjoying the springtime in the valley.
As spring arrived and the weather gradually warmed, the valley was not quite in full blossom, but still, many flower buds could hardly wait to burst open.
“How beautiful!”
Looking at the partially bloomed flowers mixed with numerous buds still waiting to bloom, the girl’s face was filled with sheer delight as she spoke.
“Junior Sister…” As the boy watched the girl’s joyous expression, he stepped closer, wiping the sweat from his palms onto his long shirt.
Then, with a bold heart, he extended his hand, trembling slightly, and gently held the girl’s delicate wrist.
“Senior Brother, what’s wrong?” The girl turned her head, blinking her bright large eyes, her cheeks tinged with a blush, and asked.
“Junior Sister, we’ve been close since we were little, growing up together.
Senior Brother’s feelings for you are like these wildflowers sprawling across the hills; can you really not feel them?” The boy mustered tremendous courage as he stared at the girl in front of him and said.
“Senior Brother, you…”
Although she already had her suspicions, upon hearing the boy’s confession, the girl’s cheeks were now flushed with embarrassment, and she shyly lowered her head.
Yet, from the corner of her eyes, she sneakily glanced at the flowers nearby.
Senior Brother said his feelings were like the flowers in this valley?
“Se… Senior Brother…”
However, after stealing a glance at the valley’s flowers, the girl’s expression suddenly turned ugly, and the shyness on her face quickly dissipated.
She pointed at the flowers next to them and said, “Are you saying your feelings are like this?”
The girl’s sudden change of expression left the boy bewildered, and he shifted his gaze from her to the flowers next to them.
Then, he too was stunned.
Red, purple, yellow, green…
Originally, the valley’s various colored flowers were splendid and vibrant.
But now, all of the flowers in the valley had turned black and white.
“How, how can this be?
My feelings for Junior Sister are genuine!”
Seeing how all the flowers across the hill had turned black and white, the boy was also shocked, even doubting himself.
…
Musical and lively, they played with great joy.
A wedding procession was making its way out of the town with a very cheerful tune.
The common folk by the road, hearing the music and celebration, naturally stepped aside, stopped to watch and whispered among themselves.
“I heard it’s the wedding day of Miss Zhu from the Zhu Family and the Young Master Ma from the Ma Family.
Such a grand affair is indeed fitting for a family of their standing!” Among the crowd, a girl clad in a coarse hemp garment spoke with envy.
“Indeed, the Zhu and Ma families are a perfect match.
Don’t even dream about it, you wild girl!” As the girl in hemp spoke, a middle-aged man dressed like a farmer scolded her without mincing his words.
“I’ve heard Miss Zhu has her heart set on someone else.
Wasn’t there a fuss over it just a while ago?” Another man, wearing a short coarse jacket, asked curiously.
“Shh, don’t speak of it.
In these times, what’s a heart worth?
It’s the matching of social statuses that’s more important!”
“Besides, I’ve heard from the grapevine that the object of Miss Zhu’s affections has already passed away.
What a tragedy, such a young life, gone just like that…” A grey-haired elder hurriedly hushed the man, ending his sentence with a shake of his head, filled with regret.
The wedding procession, playing their music, quickly left the town.
Inside the bridal sedan chair, a woman sat with a face full of sorrow, looking out through the curtain with a mournful gaze.
The sedan chair arrived outside the town, and abruptly, a newly-made grave appeared before the woman’s eyes.
Seeing this, the woman inside the sedan chair burst into tears, jumping out from the chair and running towards the new grave.
She ran straight to the grave, crying heartbreakingly as she looked at the epitaph on the tombstone.
The accompanying wedding procession, seeing this scene, looked at each other in bewilderment, at a loss for what to do.
Fortunately, an elder from the group, more composed, signaled to two men nearby with his eyes, instructing them to quickly pull the bride back into the sedan chair.
“Look, the bride’s wedding dress…”
But just then, an astonished cry rang out.
All eyes turned, and in shock, they saw the bride’s once bright red wedding dress had turned gray-black.
On looking around, it wasn’t just the bride’s wedding attire; all things in the world had lost their color, turning into shades of black and white.
“What an earth-shattering love this must be…”
Beholding the world loss of color, many in the wedding procession were moved, murmuring softly.
…
A battlefield lay strewn with the dead and wounded.
A general clad in tattered armor stood alone, holding a spear, his body covered in blood, while around him lay heaps of corpses.
“Kill!”
Seeing this general who fought to the last man, refusing to surrender, the enemy soldiers showed a stern respect on their faces.
The leading general, brandishing a great sword, roared his command loudly.
Upon the battlefield, the greatest respect one could pay an enemy was not to spare their life, but to let them die in battle, commanding admiration.
The enemy general had done just that.
Thud thud thud!
The sound of horse hooves arose in waves as another dozen cavalrymen charged forth.
After a fierce bout, his spear moved like a dragon, and after slicing through another ten enemy soldiers, a great saber suddenly swung at him as his strength faltered.
Fighting alone, the general felt the world spin around him.
In a daze, he saw the last familiar headless corpse before his consciousness succumbed to darkness.
After felling the adversary, the enemy general looked upon the beheaded yet upright corpse, and with a silent reverence, slightly bowed his head, “Such a brave warrior, I hope in your next life you are reborn on the Asura Path and continue your campaigns!”
Countless soldiers eyed the headless body with respect in their gazes.
Fighting to the last man, never surrendering, dying in battle, such a warrior, even as an enemy, deserved admiration.
However, at that moment, suddenly, all the soldiers realized, the world had lost its color, all things, had turned to shades of black and white.
Even the blood on the ground seemed to have lost its color.
“Could it be, the heavens and the earth are moved by him?”
Looking at the headless corpse, and then at the discolored world, the enemy general murmured to himself, his respect deepening even further.
…
Let’s not talk about the myriad events occurring in the Mortal World; humans, evil demons, or even animals sensed that suddenly, the world before their eyes had completely changed.
Because, at that moment, the colors of the universe had vanished.
The whole world turned to black and white, its colors now monochrome.
Blood was no longer red, and flowers lost their vibrant hues.
Everything conveyed an immensely solemn atmosphere.
Such a celestial phenomenon naturally shocked countless beings, and they set out to discover the cause of this change in the world’s colors.
Of course, with the world losing its colors, many events were now shrouded in a mythological light.
In the Mortal World, aside from those with great supernatural power, no one could understand the significance of this loss of color.
But for immortals, Buddha, demons, and sacred beings, it was not so commonplace.
In the Great Thunder Monastery, Tathagata Buddha, as usual, sat cross-legged, expounding Buddhist scriptures, with many Buddhas and Bodhisattvas sitting in proper posture below him.
Suddenly, with the world losing its color, Tathagata’s teaching came to an abrupt halt.
Almost simultaneously, the string of chant beads in his hand snapped, and the Buddha Beads scattered all over the floor.
“Buddha, what is this?”
Seeing the chant beads in Tathagata’s hand break, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the Thunder Monastery were also astonished, turning their gazes to Tathagata.
They all felt something significant had happened, a major event.
“This loss of color in the world, it signifies the fall of a Quasi-Saint…” Tathagata murmured softly.
A Quasi-Saint has fallen!?
These words made countless Buddhas and Bodhisattvas look at each other in dismay.
They understood what a Quasi-Saint represented.
In the entire Buddhist Sect, only the Three-World Buddha had reached the Quasi-Saint realm.
Had a Quasi-Saint suddenly fallen?
Who among the great figures had fallen?
Almost simultaneously, the situation in the Lingxiao Hall, compared to that in the Great Thunder Monastery, had no difference.
With the world losing its colors, the Great Jade Emperor abruptly rose to his feet, his eyes fiercely looking into the distance.
Unlike the Thunder Monastery, many of the Immortal Gods within the Lingxiao Hall were also internally shocked, exchanging looks.
Many had lived through the Deification War and had seen what the fall of a Quasi-Saint looked like, so regarding the current scene, many gods understood what was happening.
A Quasi-Saint has fallen!?
But who has fallen?
The discoloration of the world caused a commotion in all realms and paths.
Naturally, countless beings showed their divine skills to investigate the truth of the matter.
The Quasi-Saints in the world were few; except for the extremely few whom people were not very familiar with, most were known to one another, to some extent.
Soon, these great experts with supernatural powers used their methods to find out who had fallen.
Buddhist Sect, one of the Three-World Buddha, the Future Buddha Maitreya Buddha!
Once this news was confirmed, countless beings were immensely shocked!
The Journey to the West for Scriptures was ordained by the Heavenly Dao, which also decreed that the Buddhist Sect should flourish!
Yet, the Future Buddha Maitreya Buddha was slain!?
