Elshienne awkwardly waved her hand. "There's nothing else going on," she said quickly, trying to brush off Nayoung's suspicions. Then she cleared her throat and changed the topic. "Um… are you okay with the dean's decision?"

Nayoung's eyes sparkled with excitement. "It's scary but fun! Heheee! Besides, the decision is final, right? So we just need to accept it." She flashed a bright smile, her usual bubbly self shining through.

They finally reached their classroom door. Elshienne knocked, and when the door opened, both she and Nayoung bowed politely. "Sorry, we're late," they said in unison.

The professor, a tall woman with sharp eyes and neatly tied hair, looked up from her desk and nodded. "It's fine. The dean already informed me about the change. Go on and take your seats," she instructed.

Both girls quickly found their seats and settled down. The professor resumed her lesson, "Alright, as I was saying, today's lesson is on Crisis Safety Training. We will begin with understanding the different zones. Now," she paused, scanning the room, "who can tell me how many zones we have?"

A student raised his hand confidently. "We have three zones: the floating zone called Skyland, the underwater zone called Submerged, and the underground zone known as the Hollow Zone. So… three."

Before the professor could respond, another student raised her hand and spoke up. "Actually, there's a new zone too. So there's four now."

The professor nodded with a slight smile. "Yes, that's correct. There is indeed a new zone. It's called the Maze Zone."

The boy who answered earlier scratched his head, looking embarrassed. "Ah… sorry, I didn't watch the news… huhuuu," he mumbled, sinking a little into his chair.

The professor chuckled softly. "It's alright. Not everyone keeps up with all the changes. The Maze Zone was only discovered recently, so it's understandable." She turned back to the holographic board, and with a swipe of her hand, images of twisted pathways and towering walls appeared.

"The Maze Zone is unique. Based on reports, the structure of the maze shifts every 30 minutes. It's never the same, making navigation extremely difficult. Not only that, but the environment inside is unpredictable—some areas are filled with thick fog, others with traps or strange creatures. Those who enter need to be highly skilled or very lucky to find their way out."

Nayoung's eyes sparkled with excitement. She leaned toward Elshienne and whispered eagerly, "Oh! I would love to try that new zone! Doesn't it sound so cool?"

Elshienne gave her a wary look. "You really think getting lost in a moving maze is cool?"

Nayoung nodded quickly, grinning. "Of course! It's like a real adventure!"

The professor continued, "Because of its unpredictable nature, the Maze Zone is currently off-limits to low-rank awakeners. Only those with special permission can enter for exploration or research purposes. There are still many unknowns, and safety is not guaranteed."

One student spoke. "Professor, We know about the zones and We've been taught the basic safety rules and survival strategies. So we want to know more"

Another student added, "Yeah, We learned about the monster and beast but not all just some details we need to survive if we encountered one."

One of the students raised their hand. "We don't know much," the student said. "Our parents have been forbidding us from learning more."

The professor nodded. "Well, that's to avoid being too curious. The world is already dangerous. Your curiosity can put you in danger."

Another student spoke up, "We're already curious! It's been five years, and only the self-defense class has been helping us. But most of it is about escaping from monsters and learning about them. We want to know about the Awakeners' benefits, especially the Global System, Professor!"

The professor sighed and nodded. "Alright, I understand your curiosity. Let me explain." She paused for a moment before asking, "Are you all aware of how everything started?"

Nayoung quickly raised her hand and replied, "Of course, Professor! Our world right now is based on a VR game called Ethereal Online!"

The professor smiled and continued, "That's right. The game's world has become our reality. The Global System, which is something that only Awakeners can access, is the reason we don't need regular phones anymore. The system acts like a phone, but only those who are Awakened can see it." ƒгeewebnovёl.com

The professor then waved her hand, and a hologram appeared in front of the class, showing various app icons. One of them was labeled "Gotube."

"When Awakeners open the Global System," the professor explained, "the hologram appears, and they can access several apps. Gotube is one of the most commonly used apps, where Awakeners can watch videos about the different zones and creatures. There are also other apps related to mana control, tracking progress, updates and even receiving alerts about potential dangers."

As the professor noticed the guy entering late without a word, she paused and gave him a stern look. "Excuse me," she said, her voice firm but calm. "If you're going to join us, at least have the decency to apologize for being late. This is a classroom, not a free-for-all."

The student didn't respond, sitting silently, his eyes half-closed and his posture slouched. The professor sighed, clearly irritated, but she continued, "If you're not feeling well, I suggest you go to the nurse's office. You're disrupting the class."

She glanced around the room, her eyes landing on the other students. "Is anyone going to say anything? Or should we just pretend this is normal?"

The room fell silent for a moment. Finally, the student beside him leaned over and softly muttered, "Hey, the professor's talking to you."

Nathan immediately pulled Elshienne to his side, backing away from the guy. "Stay back," he whispered, his voice tense.

The other students started to panic. "What's happening?" one whispered. "Is he... sick?" another asked, taking a step back.

Nayoung looked wide-eyed at the guy, her voice shaking. "What is that? What's on his back?"

Suddenly, a large black bump appeared on the guy's back, and then wings started to grow out. The students gasped in horror. The wings were sticky, and a strange liquid began to spill out. The liquid splattered everywhere, and then his shirt ripped off as the wings fully extended.

The professor's eyes widened. "No... this isn't good." She quickly opened her Global System interface. "Alert the security! Now!" she shouted the global system immediately send signal to other awakeners.

Elshienne, being near the alarm button, quickly clicked it. The loud alarm rang through the classroom, making everyone especially other classroom even more nervous.

"Everyone stay calm!" the professor said, trying to keep control, though her voice shook. "Get to the safe zone now!"

The students started to panic, some running towards the exit while others stood frozen in fear. The guy, now completely transformed, shook violently, his wings twitching as more strange liquid leaked from his body.
