Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1545: One chance
Chapter 1545: One chance
"Lonos..."
"I am busy, don’t bother me. This requires my absolute focus."
"He is moving..."
"Nonsense, that is absolutely impossible... my power can’t be bypassed like this, he isn’t skilled or strong enough to pull that off."
Although Lonos said that, he soon was able to feel Rain’s bloodlust growing. When he looked over his shoulder, he saw Rain slowly raising his head as if he was about to take a step... that shouldn’t be possible... Still, when Lonos opened his eyes widely, he realized that Rain already had a skill that should help him with that, and that skill had been getting stronger since the very moment he obtained it...
Lvl 60: Temporal Erasure - Erases events or individuals from the timeline, altering history and reshaping the course of destiny. It decreases the effects of time magic by one thousand points per level.
Such skill would gain experience even faster by facing the effect of a high level time manipulation and Lonos could see the effects of that power up right now as Rain’s face contorted with effort as if he was time to fight time itself.
"... I have time. As long as I take Rais, his learning speed will decrease tremendously."
"Hurry up, then."
Lonos was correct... but not entirely correct. Rais, as the machine god of information, truly made Rain able to absorb information faster and make his skills level up faster, but another thing that made Rain level up faster was the skills of the Transcendental Human path... Rain only realized now the misstep that he had done. All of a sudden, he opened a portal to his pocket dimension and then the former lords arrived from it. When that had happened, Rain was able to move a lot faster, and then he teleported Arel, and his attack made her cross the portal.
Level 90: Transcendental Experience (556) - You broke the limits of your learning capacity, and now you can learn things even faster than before. Increases experience gain by one percent per level.
Level 95: Transcendental Support (458)- Your presence increases the morale of your allies and underlings. You are the commander that they have been waiting for. Increases all of allies parameters by one percent per level.
Level 100: Living Legend (759) - a rare and powerful ability that bestows upon its user an unparalleled boost in all of your parameters on the battlefield. When activated, this skill augments all parameters of the user by one point for each ally in your immediate vicinity, transforming you into an unstoppable force to be reckoned with. After equipping those skills, Rain was able to feel the power come to him...
"Ahh... this is much better," Rain said. "Well then... it is time for the final round."
"Did you have to send her back?" Hardt asked. "I wanted to punch her at least once."
"You are only here for support, so shut up," Rain said.
Lonos focus wavered, and thanks to that, the power of his spells decreased, and the portal was closed... at that point in time, he didn’t have any other option but to truly accept the situation. Rain was the strongest enemy he had fought so far and there was no point in considering the others if he doesn’t manage to kill him right here and right now.
"You are absolutely... very annoying. You refuse to die even when you are weaker than me, and you refuse to stay down when you are knocked down... you truly are..."
"This is a bit embarrassing, but I guess I will claim for myself the title of The Raging Phoenix," Rain declared. "Now, en garde, dickhead."
Lonos closed his eyes and then let out a deep sigh... one could almost see his anger turning into an aura that was distorting space, before long, he let out all of his energy in a single blast of energy.
In the next moment, the surroundings around Rain and Logos changed from completely dark to white, with countless portals around them. Even the lords had vanished, and Rain could feel his strength decrease once again. Since he couldn’t see them, he couldn’t open a portal to where he was or send them back to his pocket dimension.
While looking around for a moment, Rain was able to see countless portals around, and each one of them showed different points of the history of the whole universe... that was quite something, and there were literally an infinite amount of those portals.
"Where are you going to run to this time?" Rain asked.
"The current, you might be strong enough to face me and keep going, but what about your other versions?"
"... I imagined that you couldn’t change the past without taking some risks... I guess you don’t care about them anymore," Rain said while furrowing his eyebrows.
One of the portals suddenly appeared in front of Lonos... he had absolute control over them in that place, apparently. Regardless, Rain found the images of his birth on the second Earth... if Lonos were to head there, even if he failed to kill Rain, he could kill his partner or other people that could alter the history of the entire universe. The butterfly effect...
The butterfly effect is a concept that suggests a small change or alteration in one part of a system can lead to significant differences in outcomes elsewhere. The name comes from the idea that the flapping of a butterfly’s wings in one part of the world could potentially cause a tornado or other major weather event in another part of the world at a later time.
In a broader sense, the butterfly effect illustrates the interconnectedness and sensitivity of complex systems to initial conditions. It implies that even tiny variations in circumstances or initial states can lead to vastly different outcomes over time, making long-term prediction or control of such systems extremely challenging.
"... Since you are going that far, then I will respond to it accordingly," Rain said. "Choose your target well. You will have but one chance."
