Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1348: Instincts
Chapter 1348: Instincts
Rain stopped attacking with downward attacks. That was how rain normally works, after all... Still, when the next group of enemies targeted him, he used the same technique vertically. The dark droplets of water stopped their acid cannons and reached them as well. The enemies trembled as the dark droplets pierced their faces, and they flinched thanks to the pain.
"More power... faster," Rain thought. "I need all this to stop them once and for all."
Rain could tell that he was going to feel that later, so he had to be smarter. For starters, he dashed toward his next target and then threw the ominous sword at the face of the monster. The wounded spot was easily pierced, and when the monster flinched, Rain used the horizontal version of his special technique once again. The attack caused more damage and made the sword pierce the enemy’s body even further... it didn’t take long before the creature was slain.

Rain recovered the ominous sword and then thought that he would hear Elisabetha’s complaints, but she didn’t say anything... as long as she was killing the dragons, it seemed that she would be fine with whatever he did.
As Rain’s efficiency in combat became more evident, the monsters began to retreat, utilizing long-range attacks to cover their withdrawal. The flying snakes employed similar tactics, launching coordinated assaults from above, while the giant horned monsters positioned themselves strategically, using their bodies as barriers to shield the more vulnerable members of their ranks. It was a display of surprising tactical knowledge from creatures typically associated with brute force and instinctual aggression.
Despite their powerful appearance and world-ending capabilities, the monsters demonstrated a level of coordination and strategy that belied their primal nature. It was an unexpected sight to witness such sophisticated tactics employed by creatures whose existence seemed solely devoted to destruction and chaos.
It was a good moment for Iori to bring as many people as possible to his pocket dimension, but he could only bring some small groups at a time since everyone was pretty far away from each other... they were also chasing the enemies and attacking them from a distance... at first, that didn’t work very well, but as Draconic Intimidation leveled up, the attacks began to pile up, and the horned giants couldn’t heal that fast anymore.
"Time to go all out and use all of the mana on this gem," Rain thought.
Rain disappeared from the enemies sight for a moment and that made them restless. Still, before they could do or think of anything... a dark rain began to fall on them. It almost looked like they were being bombarded by a rain of meteors... each attack hit the monsters and pierced their bodies deeply. Thanks to the corrupt energy of wrath, the enemies failed to regenerate from those attacks in time, and soon, they began to fall... giving the warriors in the area the chance to kill them in droves.

If Rain could see his face right now, he would have noticed that he was showing the same smirk a final boss would show while he stomped on the head of the hero... but the smirk soon disappeared, and it gave away to an utter look of confusion. As if they had been sucked by an invisible black hole, the monsters that survived the barrage of attacks suddenly disappeared, leaving only behind the corpses of their allies...
"Retreat and approach Esmeralda and her group all at once!" Rain’s voice echoed on the battlefield. "We are running away!"
The sudden disappearance of the monsters raised suspicions among the warriors, hinting at the possibility that one of the machine gods may have been observing their battle and intervened to withdraw the creatures. This inference was supported by the strategic retreat of the monsters, suggesting a level of coordination and control beyond their natural instincts.
The decision to retreat had many explanations, with several factors contributing to the urgency of the situation. Firstly, the enemies aimed to minimize further loss of manpower, recognizing that prolonged engagement with the warriors could result in additional casualties among their ranks. Secondly, there was a growing sense of urgency coming from the realization that the machine gods might be on the verge of unleashing further devastation upon the planet, potentially targeting Rain and his allies in the process.
With these considerations in mind, the warriors understood the imperative need to retreat swiftly and regroup with Esmeralda and her group. Thanks to that, the groups began to disappear and were sent to Iori’s pocket dimension much faster than before... thousands of them disappeared every second. However, it seemed that it wasn’t enough.
"Shit, this isn’t good..." Rain thought when he felt the hair on his back standing up.
Rain’s guts were acting out again... without any other choice, he used his own pocket dimension to make more people escape faster. Before long, a flash of light began to shine in the sky... the enemy’s attack had finally arrived. Without hesitation, Rain teleported to the stratosphere of that planet and blocked a massive cannon of mana with the ominous sword. freēwēbnovel.com
Rain felt his body being pushed backward while his skin was being burned and consumed with every minute... a weird sound began to echo in his ears. It felt a muffled sound of something immensely powerful. In the end, Rain was able to resist for a while thanks to the chimera core that could disperse mana and the mana gem that absorbed mana. However, he soon arrived on the surface of the planet again...
