Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1340: This could be a trap
Chapter 1340: This could be a trap
It didn’t take long for Rain to find the vessel, at least what was left of it... the whole structure had collapsed and had become something like an island in the middle of the dark sea. Probably because it fell from the sky, and there was no mana in it to keep it stable like before.
When Rain landed at the top of it, he saw that half of it had collapsed, and the hollow parts now had a bunch of holes in them... the buildings where everyone lived had fallen apart as well.
"Where did you sense any mana?" Rain asked via Telepathy.
"I sensed a part of the core that was still active," Isa replied. "It was right below your house."
Rain’s house, while partially submerged, appeared to have endured the collapse of the vessel relatively well. Rain approached the structure, wary of any potential damage caused by the collapse. Using his proficiency in wind magic, he skillfully manipulated the surrounding dark waters, pushing them away to reveal what lay beneath.
As the oily liquid receded, it unveiled a surprising sight – a cluster of gems nestled amidst the debris. These gems, shimmering faintly in the dim light, were not natural formations but rather a creation of the Gemini tribe’s unique abilities. Rain had acquired the skill during his journeys and had decided to utilize it as a safeguard for unforeseen circumstances. It’s not like he had the chance to do so. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Rain retrieved the gems, examining them closely. Each gem glinted with a mesmerizing brilliance. These gems could serve as valuable resources once, but not anymore. Still, Rain didn’t feel that bothered by it."
"I guess this trip was a total waste of time," Rain said and then sighed. "Or maybe not..."
Rain decided to use psychometry on the vessel... even if it was half destroyed, he still should be able to find some information from it. In the end, Rain saw some frames of the vessel there, but eventually, he was able to see what happened with the vessel.
As Rain delved deeper into the vessel’s past, he encountered the presence of a mysterious entity reminiscent of a giant blue lizard. Despite the vague and somewhat distorted nature of the memory, it bore a striking resemblance to the formidable first dragons, albeit smaller in size.
This creature, resembling a prototype or precursor to the first dragons, was engaged in some form of study or observation within the vessel. Its actions suggested a level of intelligence and curiosity akin to their enemies. However, discerning the exact nature of its intentions or motives proved challenging, given the fragmented nature of the memory.
Nonetheless, Rain’s psychometric abilities provided a glimpse into this enigmatic encounter, shedding light on a pivotal moment in the vessel’s history before its eventual abandonment in the desolate expanse of the dark sea.
"This guy lost interest in the vessel quite soon, but he at least took all the relics that we had," Rain said. "All those weeks making relics... you will pay for that, dear enemy. I am going to kick your ass so hard that you will wish that you didn’t have one."
"It didn’t look like a body Arel would use, so it was another being... one that didn’t look much like it was interested in fighting," Sakaki said. "... It looks like Hardt wants to say something."
"Who?" Rain asked.
"Come on..." Sakaki said and then sighed.
"What is it?" Rain asked via telepathy.
"That guy... he is someone who works by developing the bio-organic weapons that you call first dragons," Hardt said. "I heard from Arel that he selects and uses all of the organic data that he finds to create those creatures. His main job is to keep improving them, so he should have an army of defects that he keeps for himself."
"Oh... the guy who created the first dragons..." Rain said and then sighed when he felt Elisabetha’s anger covering his body. "We found two of them already... Arel was responsible for the prison and kept producing high levels of corrupt energy, and this guy creates an army of aberrations... what is the chance that he created and sent the new dragons to the current Earth while it was evolving?"
"Pretty high," Sakaki said. "It is hard to say precisely why, but they should have got interested in mana, the source of energy that became the norm on the second version of Earth."
Despite the initial frustration of finding the vessel in such a state of disrepair and abandonment, Rain realized that the journey had not been entirely futile. The insights gleaned from their exploration of the vessel, coupled with the revelation regarding the involvement of the individual responsible for creating the first dragons, provided valuable intelligence on the operations and machinations of the machine gods.
While the immediate objective of using the vessel again was no longer possible, the knowledge acquired during their excursion served to further illuminate the workings of their adversaries. In the grand scheme of their conflict against the machine gods, every fragment of information obtained was a vital piece of the puzzle.
Rain understood the importance of gathering as much intelligence as possible to formulate effective strategies and countermeasures against their formidable foes, and they had to keep doing it.
"Onto the next step..." Rain said and then used Telepathy. "You guys saw this, right?"
"No, whatever you learned, we didn’t see it," Sealyn said.
Rain explained to everyone what he had learned in those few moments, and so they began to talk about what they should do. Leaving the territory of the enemies was still their main concern, but since it looked like they were unaware of their actions, perhaps they could capitalize on it.
"I am not sure about this... this could be a trap," Roan said.
"I can’t deny that," Rain said. "As we speak, they could be luring us into a trap that will kill us in a very efficient way, just like they like... but it is also possible that the dragon god drew their attention."
