I transmigrated and got a husband and a son!-Chapter 1207: The answer
Chapter 1207: The answer
Hera’s plan was smooth, and she was certain the success rate was higher than fifty percent. The idea crossed her while listening to Dominic’s deep breaths while asleep.
Florence was expecting her and the Reapers to foolishly march in here for a full-blown war. Initially, that was what Hera planned. Risky, but it was better to attack first than get attacked. But when this idea came to her, everyone knew it was the best course of action.
"This Secret Society... the Four Families... and you... can just rot to hell."
This wasn’t what Hera expected, though.
"You called for that meeting... to kill the heads of each family?" she asked, thinking her people had probably finished the job.
"Not just the head." Florence shook her head, sneering. "Their wives, sons and daughters, their people. I planned to bury them all under the ruins of their houses!"
Even when she was bleeding out, Florence’s malevolence knows no bounds. Surely, a person’s hatred could drive someone to impossible heights.
"That’s intense," Hera barely spared her words. ’I only planned to take out the head and replace it with someone of my own choosing, but this woman wants to commit genocide.’
Although she didn’t condone it, she understood where Florence was coming from.
The Five Secret Families were a hindrance to her all these years. They were annoying because, at some part of this situation, Hera knew the other families had their fair share of responsibility for why things went south.
’If they only let Florence take charge, then she wouldn’t feel pressured to target me as well,’ Hera thought.
"All my life... I’ve worked hard to gain the late master’s approval." Florence laughed within, her smile laced with bitterness. "Your mother couldn’t take it and walked away, but I didn’t. He didn’t hear a word of complaint. The Four Families witnessed that. They knew and yet, they still dare look for you and call you the rightful owner of the Oxley! Hahaha! What a bunch of fools!"
She brushed the side of her temple with the back of her hand. "So, I thought, why in the world do I need these people’s approval? The late master was dead and this? This is my family and the person in power is me, Florence Oxley!" frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Hera carefully took a baby step while Florence was being sentimental. She had been secretly closing the gap between them because her mind was more focused on the device in Florence’s hand.
"How dare they threaten me to bring home an outsider?" Florence continued in a bitter hiss. "Just because my name wasn’t written on a stupid piece of paper, they would rather choose the person who left the family. If not, then they would choose Felice’s child, who knows nothing about this! This is all their fault!"
Her face turned red as she grew more emotional as if she was starting to hallucinate. "I wouldn’t have killed him if only he acknowledged me! But no! He forced me to kill him. And then, the other families made me kill my sister. If not for them, I would’ve left Felice’s alone! Yet, they kept talking about the named heir! Felice doesn’t want anything to do with this family! Why bring her up!?"
Hera stopped taking steps and furrowed her brows.
That was her question too.
Why name her mother, Felice, heir when she wanted nothing to do with the Oxley Family? Not only that, but from what she heard, the will also stated that if something bad happened to Felice, Hera would succeed the family.
Why?
The Secret Family was probably just following the protocol as what they were supposed to do. But what about the late headmaster of the house? Hera found it hard to believe it was because he saw potential in her, and she doubted the late master wasn’t aware Felice would refuse the offer.
Felice left the family when she had nothing. What more now that Felice had her own family and obligations? The late master wasn’t that stupid, was he?
’It’s not because of Charlotte, is it?’ Hera’s intrigue once again rose at the top of her head.
"And you..." Florence looked up at Hera with tears flowing from her eyes. "Why did you have to be so good, hah?! If only you are just like that son of a bitch, I would’ve let you off the hook!"
Florence clasped her hair as she whimpered, while Hera took this time to take another step.
"He made me someone who is capable of killing my own father..." her voice was quiet but shaky, hugging herself as if she had forgotten the device in her hand. "... and they... they forced me to kill my own sister, now my own niece. Just how many more people would I have to take just to be worthy?"
Hera froze a little as she kept her eyes fixed on the device. Florence wasn’t lucid at the moment because of blood loss. But she was holding a very dangerous weapon.
Just then, Hera caught something from the corner of her eyes. When she turned, she caught several forces landing on the island.
"Kekeke!" Florence suddenly chuckled from within, making her back tremble. "Right. It’s all that child’s fault. This all started because of that child."
Hera’s expression was taut when she set her eyes back to Florence. She took another step. If only she knew Florence had such a card up her sleeve, she would’ve stayed in a closer spot.
Hera exercised patience, advancing slowly while letting Florence ramble on and on. But what she heard next made her stop again as it eventually answered all the underlying questions in her head.

Meanwhile...
"I couldn’t find anything for you at the moment, but this should make you feel more comfortable." Ram handed a pair of shirts and pants to Charlotte so she could change. They were currently at the boat, heading to the meeting place.
Charlotte smiled. "Thank you, Uncle Ram."
After spending some time with the girl, Ram found her quite pleasing. He didn’t stay long and left the small cabin room to give her some space. But as soon as he closed the door, he saw a pair of socks that seemed to have fallen when he came in.
Picking it up, Ram knocked on the door.
"Charlotte, there’s a pair of socks here. I’ll toss it in."
"Okay!"
Ram took that as a green signal to open the door. It was only a few seconds, so he didn’t think Charlotte was already changing. Much to his surprise, when he opened the door to toss the pair of socks inside, Charlotte already took off the dress she was wearing and was topless.
"Just toss it there, Uncle," she said with a smile, unfazed at the person looking at her despite being almost bare.
Ram was supposed to look away, but he didn’t. Instead, he stared at Charlotte with wide eyes, his gaze fixed on her flat chest. One could say with how sickly she looked, some part of her body hadn’t developed yet. But the light bulge within Charlotte’s tight boxer brief was a telltale it wasn’t the case.
"You..." Ram trailed off, shocked. "... are a boy?"
