I transmigrated and got a husband and a son!-Chapter 1164: He does seems to be your type
Chapter 1164: He does seems to be your type
"Dominic told me when I was still in Heaven’s body."
Heaven’s body.
Ram knew a thing or two about the Zhu Family, including Dominic’s beloved wife, Heaven Liu. Hence, his mind almost mistook Hera’s words upon saying those to him without any sign of hesitation.
"You didn’t know?" she cast Ram a sidelong glance. "Why am I surprised that you were kept out of the loop? Of course, no one will tell you and even if they did, you won’t believe a word from them."
Hera smacked her lips. "Unless it’s me who’s going to say it."
Ram cast his eyes down, brows furrowed. He wasn’t confused per se, but more like... appalled. This wasn’t the first time someone dropped a hint to him. Many did, but all he saw was justification for why most of them sided with Dominic instead of Hera. Not that Ram was to judge; after all, his means to protect Hera were also unpopular. Even Ram wasn’t a fan of his own actions, but he simply had to do what he had to do at that time.
"It’s around five years," Hera whispered, eyes on the window. "Five years after I was pronounced dead when I woke up in Heaven Liu’s body. It’s hard to believe — even I couldn’t believe it even when a month had passed."
Her lips curled up into a brief, bitter smile. "But eventually, I had to accept and swallow the reality. At that time, I was... ecstatic. Heaven Liu’s life is shitty, but the mere thought of being a different kind of trash instead of Hera Cruel made me happy."
"I didn’t think of you, or Tiger, or even my mom," she continued. "If there was any thought of anyone in Hera’s life that crossed me, that was I don’t want to see them again. I don’t care if I was Heaven or Angel or whatever damn name and identity I assumed. I would just be glad not to be Hera Cruel."
"But Bear... found me. Up until this day, I wonder if that was a mere coincidence or if my fate would always be connected to every single one of you that no matter who I am, you’d always find a place in my life and vice versa." Hera paused as her eyelids drooped. "I’m saying this because you said it’s my turn."
"I had my turn, Ram. It was short but meaningful." Slowly, she faced Ram while carrying a short smile. "I met a man who loved and accepted me for who I am and not just for what I could do. He had a son whose eyes will shine and his face brightens up just at the sight of me. And the two of us, with me in that body, had a daughter who was so cute and white it made me wonder if she was a bun or a clump of milk. I would bite her either way just because she looks too squishy."
"Of course, we had our ups and downs — Dominic and I. We had arguments, and shared pain, but also good memories that could keep me going for the rest of my life," she continued in the same quiet tone. "They... keep me going, Ram. They’re the reason I fight now because I want to not be Hera anymore. I’m not fighting because I hate them, but because I don’t want any of them in my life. At least, not in the life where my children, where my husband lived."
Hera took another deep breath as she snapped her eyes back to the window. "I’m not sulking because these people or the fact they had the gall to prance their way in my life and offer me nothing but bullshit insulted me. The fact that everything that makes me suffer or the truth that I was mere collateral damage doesn’t hurt me."
"I’m just... tired," she breathed out. "I just want this to end, to get my happy ending, and to not have these types of problems anymore. That self-proclaimed cousin of mine gave me a tempting offer and I would be stupid not to reconsider. But then, what? If I accepted the offer, does that mean I have to take my children to a world that no one knows about? A world that would bind them in strict rules; the same rules that had screwed up Florence Oxley, Ulysses Ebonhart’s ideals, and Felice Oxley."
"But do you think it’s worse than raising them in a world of violence like the underground?" Ram sighed, putting aside the shocking truth Hera was in Heaven’s body for years. He offered her a smile when she glanced at him. "If they know that Hera Cruel is the one in Heaven’s body, then do you think they prefer it if you live on your own while they grow up without a mother?" fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
"You tell me," she shrugged. "You made your decision, which you know would hurt me all to protect me. What did you feel when you let me or rather, Heaven Liu who was in that body at that time, in Dragon’s hands, knowing it’s not what will make me happy?"
Ram pursed his lips and leaned back, cocking his head back. "When I met you the first time I came to Dragon’s place, I thought you were happy. I thought perhaps I made the right call. Though deep in my heart, I knew I was hurting you."
"It sucks," he whispered, swallowing down the building lump in his throat. "It sucks so much it made me sick. I can’t even think of any other excuses to justify my actions. All I could hope for is that even if it made me sick, so long as you don’t remember, I could swallow the shame and self-hatred that is growing in my heart."
"But it’s not easy," he huffed, facing her once again. "It’ll eat you up from the inside and before you know it, you’re dead. Now, since I spoke about my perspective, you of all people, should understand what those children and Dominic would feel for you to act on what you think is right without consulting them. I’ve put you in that position not long ago, after all."
Ram offered her a loving smile as planted his hand on her bent knees. "Whatever you decide on, I’ll happily respect that decision. I’m a man with only a little time to live. I prefer to use the remainder of my days by your side, whether in heaven or hell."
"Though I have plenty of questions, I’ll save it for later." His smile stretched. "I believe this matter is something you shouldn’t decide all by yourselves. It’s late to where Dominic lives, but I’m sure a man like him is still awake reading some documents. Give him a call and discuss your future with him."
Ram nodded at her encouragingly until Hera sported a short smile. Without saying a word, he pushed himself up and walked away. But just as he was by the door, he stopped and looked back.
"Though, I have one question that can’t wait," he said, watching Hera look in his direction. "If you’ve known about my condition while in Heaven’s body, why didn’t you say anything?"
The corner of Hera’s lips curled up. "Dominic thinks I should respect my elders," she said. "And that the least I could do for someone who is dying is to be a family, instead of making them feel miserable for the remainder of their days."
"Ah." Ram rocked his head before he chuckled, snapping his eyes back to her. "That explains why I always thought there was something weird between you two when he approached me and Elliot Dunkel. But now, I realized why I hadn’t done anything to him, even though I knew he was after you."
His smile stretched a little milder. "At the back of my head, I sort of agreed that he seems to be just your type."
