I Am The Heroine's Father: The Cannon Fodder's Ascent-Chapter 67: Fear of Asura: The Invasion
Chapter 67 - Fear of Asura: The Invasion
"What? So this Fear of Asura is a stage 0 dungeon!?" Orihime asked through gritted teeth, a dungeon like this was not meant to be entered without a team of at least 8 stage 0s and 30 stage 1s. Even though this was just a clone, she would still feel pain if a monster killed 'her'.
"Yeah, but it's already conquered. Radhaan and Leor probably cleared all the oppressive monsters, just leaving the one who submitted to them alive... we still have to be careful with the traps, and navigating though." Johan said nonchalantly, hiding the fact that probably, aside from the main boss, all the monsters should've submitted to Radhaan and Leor.
Monsters followed a simple life philosophy—Bully, eat, and lead the weak; follow the strong. But Johan was confident he could defeat most of the creatures inside.
'After all, the people present here aren't normal stage 0s. They're the top of the crop. As long as we work together and handle it patiently, we should be fine...'
Johan touched the demon face of the dungeon gate, playing with the hard, but slightly greasy and oily texture of it. Traveling here wasn't a challenge as they could fly. Getting inside the small tunnel was also easy—Orihime just used paper substitution and sent a piece of paper to the edge, then teleported everyone inside.
This was the exact reason Johan brought Orihime: convenience. Her abilities were full of hexes.
Johan's eyes grew solemn as he pushed the heavy door with one hand, the door opening just slightly with a heavy creak.
Johan entered first, closely followed by Sebastian and Olivia, then Orihime after a long sigh.
Heavy darkness filled their sight—the kind of darkness that comes from closing your eyes, then covering them with your hands. They even felt momentarily dizzy before noticing the strong, bitter smell of piss, shit, burning metal, and dead bodies, which made even breathing difficult.
Johan took a deep breath and muttered, "Flame torch."
A very bright flame, only the size of Johan's palm, manifested in his hand, illuminating every corner within a few meters of their surroundings.
Gasp!
What instantly caught their eyes were spiders—some purple, some yellow—hanging in little cracks everywhere, more than two thousand. And they weren't ordinary spiders. Their bodies were over twelve feet tall, their legs looked like sharp longswords, while their mouths spewed thick white webs everywhere. If you stepped on them, you'd likely melt instantly from the venom.
Olivia felt like vomiting at their appearance. She hated house spiders with a passion, and even had a bit of trauma related to them.
She clearly remembered the day she hugged little Selene to make her stop crying because of a beating from Acier. Johan forced her to eat spiders, chew them slowly, then swallow them. This became a torturous memory she remembered more vividly than anything else in her life.
Johan gently patted her shoulder, his face apologetic before turning back toward the spiders again. He didn't really know what he could say to comfort her for the mistakes his predecessor made besides cursing him.
Sebastian's face turned serious. "James, there are too many. All stage 3 too. I think we should just use the Gravitational Bubble and get past them..." he suggested seriously. It would waste so much time and energy if they started fighting.
Johan smiled softly, then shook his head with a grin. "We can't. When we get out successfully, there'll be people with us, and you can't use Gravitational Bubble on everyone then. Our people will have to die. Let's clear them out now!"
"...But—" just as Sebastian tried to argue, his eyes widened to the limit.
Dark black slime started leaking from Johan's eyeballs, skin, ears, hair, mouth—basically from everywhere.
It slowly spread, covering every part of the muddy ground, the tall walls, and the roof within a 100-meter radius, then—
Johan picked up a small rock from the ground and threw it with full strength toward the purple spider glaring at him.
It instantly startled her, piercing through her eyeball. Dark red blood pooled out of it.
Spiders were cautious predators. They liked to create deadly traps and patiently wait for enemies to enter the worst possible position before attacking with overwhelming numbers and force.
But when attacked, like any wild beast, they would retaliate. Other spiders, panicked, also started attacking in an attempt to end it in one fell swoop.
But...
'This was the worst possible decision they could've made while dealing with me.'
The first startled spider entered the slimy 100-meter area, closely followed by a group of 100, then a thousand, and now all of them, closing in just a few inches away from Johan and the group.
Olivia was on her knees, shivering, while Orihime tried to comfort her. None of them tried to run away. They trusted Johan's actions. But Sebastian still prepared a blackhole spell, ready to release at any moment due to his cautious nature.
Blackhole was a spell that only got stronger with the mass it gathered. So when the spiders were cluttered together like this, Sebastian really felt a deep urge to use it and watch them all break down to molecules. But he suppressed it, watching Johan curiously.
Just as the leg of one of the spiders was about to tear through Johan's head, it slowed, then paused just a single centimeter away.
Thud!
Its massive body fell with a thud, all signs of life vanishing.
The other spiders were completely caught off guard by this, confused. Some tried to run away with horrific expressions.
But—
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Each one of the two thousand spiders that entered the area fell, one by one, completely lifeless.
Orihime and Olivia's jaws dropped to the floor, while Sebastian's gaze grew even more admiring. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"Wh—What is this?" Orihime even flew a few inches above the slime, asking in a voice filled with surprise.
"Don't worry. This is harmless to humans." Johan said passively, his face cold.
The original Johan had tried to find cures for even the rarest kinds of toxins. And to find the cure for something, you need to understand its properties.
"Gasrone. It's a compound found in a demon's blood. It's pretty much harmless to most creatures, but once mixed with Yunomit, it becomes one of the strongest toxins to ever exist." Johan explained calmly, slowly retreating the black slime back into his body.
Orihime and Olivia still looked confused, while Sebastian's eyes brightened. "Monsters like spiders, flies, and other insect mutations have high amounts of Yunomit already in their blood..."
Johan nodded softly. He didn't need to spend much aether this way. All that was needed was creating a simple chemical compound and releasing it through his melted aether. Fighting them, even if they used Sebastian's blackhole, would've consumed a massive amount of aether.
Orihime helped Olivia get up, her eyes still filled with awe. This was very rare knowledge—someone must've read a lot to know and remember all of it. There were literally millions of different kinds of monsters, so it was remarkable to even know what they had in their bodies and what would cause a reaction.
Orihime began to suspect that James was either an alchemist or a high-ranking adventurer.
They started walking close together, killing a few monsters here and there. But there weren't many—this layer seemed to be the spiders' territory.
Suddenly, Johan paused, turning left. Orihime also sensed something weird, preparing a defensive paper dome all around them.
Johan's eyes widened as he caught sight of what it was, his body trembling violently.
A.N.= I feel bad for Olivia, she kinda developed stockholm syndrome, and forced to fall in love because of the baby :(
