High School of Demon Hunting-Chapter 382 - 51: Bad News and Good News_1
Chapter 382: Chapter 51: Bad News and Good News_1
When Zheng Qing saw Xiao Xiao and the others again, it was around eight or nine o’clock in the evening in the dorm.
At the Union’s lunchtime interview, none of the ’Knights’ from our group showed up. Instead, several paper cranes arrived, expressing some extent of encouragement to the young students on a public scholarship through the writing on the paper.
Fortunately, they had all thoroughly analyzed the questions posed by the interviewer. The young students could answer smoothly, so they didn’t mind the absence of the others.
Feeling good about himself, Zheng Qing was convinced that the establishment of his Knight Group was imminent. Upon returning to the dorm in the afternoon, he couldn’t wait to start preparing for the first team-building activity of the Knight Group — listing the guests to be invited on a large piece of white paper — he even steeled himself to allocate a jade coin as a budget for this first team-building event from his own pocket.
Elena was a must-invite. Whenever Zheng Qing thought about the words the Gypsy witch said before leaving, he couldn’t help but burst into a silly grin.
Jiang Yu, um, as a friend, she also needed to know the news.
The other classmates, such as, Nicolas, Liu Fei Fei, Duan Xiao Jian and those they got along well with, they wanted to invite; yet those like Matthew Karen, who barely said three words in a month, inviting them would only lead to awkwardness.
Also, Professor Yao, Professor Li, Professor Yi, and assistant professors like Thomas and Hilda. Whether they came to support or not, the invitations must be sent.
Oh right, there’s also Mr. Ferna from the janitorial committee. During his time in the patrol team, the old man had shown him and Lin Guo a lot of consideration. But he hadn’t seen the old man walking his dog by the lake these past few days, he wasn’t sure if the man was busy or not.
After a moment of contemplation, Zheng Qing still included Mr. Ferna’s name on the paper, but put a question mark in front of it. He decided to visit the small wooden house by the lake tomorrow after class. If he met the old janitor, he would extend an invitation in person; if he wasn’t at home, he would just put that aside for now.
Up until Xiao Xiao returned, the young scholarship student maintained a cheerful mood, humming a tune while doodling on that large piece of white paper — he was even suspecting that someone had put a dash of Luck Elixir in his breakfast, otherwise, it couldn’t be so smooth sailing for him today.
Upon hearing the opening of the door, Zheng Qing quickly stuffed the paper into the drawer, turned around and waved the orange cat into his arms.
The door hinges made a creaking noise, and the copper mirror hanging on the ceiling, as if it had received a message, began to slowly rotate, directing its gleam towards the door — this copper mirror was still hanging there from the time when Dylan put it up as Sand Hour was causing a fuss on campus. Even though the rumors had ended, no one thought to take it down, and treated it as a small decoration.
Soon, the dormitory door was opened.
Xiao Xiao pushed the door open, habitually shielding his eyes to block the dazzling light cast down by the copper mirror above him.
"Yo, our great Doctor has finally returned." Zheng Qing slumped leisurely in a broad chair, holding the orange cat in his arms, and laughed sarcastically at Xiao Xiao, who had just entered the door.
Then he noticed the figures behind Xiao Xiao and raised his eyebrows.
"When will you take down that damn mirror!" Zhang Ji Xin had forgotten to cover his eyes when he entered, and complained out loud.
The young scholarship student paid no attention to him.
"Very good... very good, everyone who should be here is here." He sat up slightly, piled the fat cat on his head, and stretched out his hand, neatly lining up a row of talismans on the desk: "So, let’s go over what happened today... do you have anything you want to explain?"
As for these guys’ repeated ’betrayals’ this morning, Zheng Qing felt he should have a good discussion about it.
Suppression talisman, binding talisman, soft leg talisman, five color talisman, five tones talisman, etc.
In the dim dormitory light, the bright red cinnabar glowed red. The orange cat, Tuan Tuan, aptly let out a ’meow,’ further intensifying an eerie atmosphere.
These minor but highly annoying talismans were drawn by the young scholarship student in his break before dinner — of course, those valuable standard talismans that could be exchanged for money, Zheng Qing had put into his gray cloth bag. The talismans spread out on the desk were all poor quality talismans.
Even if they were just poor quality talismans, they were enough to torture this listless bunch.
Zheng Qing showed a sinister smile to the guys who had just walked through the door.
But contrary to his expectations.
Neither Xiao Xiao, nor Xin Fat Man, nor even Zhang Ji Xin showed expressions of ’fear and apprehension’ or ’trembling with fear’ in response to his direct threat.
This slight frustration made him a little upset — the script wasn’t supposed to go like this, how could they not play their parts according to the plan?
"The application failed." Xiao Xiao raised a heavy parchment envelope in her hand, delivering some very bad news to Zheng Qing with a disappointed expression and tone, "I just came back from the library and stopped by the Student Union office... They have released the results of their inspection."
"Impossible!" The young scholarship student shouted, leaping out of his chair and reaching for the yellow-brown envelope.
The fat cat, which was lying on top of his head, was caught off guard and almost fell off. This greatly upset it, and it raised its thick pads to heavily pat the young wizard’s head several times.
Zheng Qing didn’t mind the fat cat’s bad temper. In fact, compared to it, Zheng Qing’s mood was much worse due to the drastic changes. He even forgot the ’torture plans’ for some ungrateful people that he had made half an hour ago, and he didn’t notice that Xin Fat Man carefully swept a pile of poor quality Fu Lu into his pocket while he wasn’t paying attention.
The envelope was small, but it seemed to be stuffed with many things, making it slightly bulging to touch.
The upper left corner of the envelope was imprinted with the red Song font "Letter No. 111", and the center was written with a black brush font "Reply from the First University Club Union Regarding (Zheng Qing) Apply for the Establishment of the Club".
The back of the envelope was stamped with a red wax seal, with the letter ’S’ logo in the diamond from the Club Union.
"So formal," Zheng Qing murmured, forcefully tearing open the envelope.
A slightly yellowed card fell into the young scholarship student’s hand as the envelope tilted. He tilted his head, and under the white desk lamp above his head, he quickly scanned it.
"Dear Zheng Qing,
Your application to establish the (Absolution Knight Group) club submitted on October 6th has been received.
According to Article 13, paragraph 2 of the ’First University Campus Management Regulations’ and Article 5, paragraph 8 of the ’First University Club Union Management Methods’, the club name you applied for is rejected for violating (public order and good customs). Relevant regulations are enclosed.
You can reapply after thirty natural days.
If you have any objections, please request a reconsideration within seven natural days.
Best regards,
The Permanent Council of the Student Union of the First University October 8 at 18:25"
Zheng Qing rubbed his eyes and read the contents of the card again.
There was no mistake.
These ’departments’ such as the student council or Club Union always use this kind of high-handed, seemingly very formal, but actually nonsensical format for official documents.
Even through a piece of paper, Zheng Qing seemed to smell the stench emanating from the pudgy campus bureaucrats of the Club Union.
He tilted the parchment envelope in his hand again.
Several stacks of thick papers finally burst the bond of the envelope and tumbled out.
Zheng Qing flipped through these stacks with the large boldface of the "First University Campus Management Regulations" and "First University Club Union Management Methods" appearing particularly glaring.
"The good news is, due to some uncontrollable factors, this year’s Moon Hunting will be delayed by a week overall." Xiao Xiao noticed the young scholarship student lifted his head, and immediately added, "I was informed by Mr. Zhang at the library. The Professor’s conference came up with this decision this afternoon... I estimate the news will reach the whole school by tomorrow morning."
"That is to say, we still have a chance." Xin Fat Man had somehow returned to his large bed.
The orange cat, which had been lying on Zheng Qing’s head, considered for a moment, and finally made a leap, leaving the young scholarship student’s head to jump back onto Xin Fat Man’s stomach.
For it, a warm and comfortable belly was clearly a better place to nap.
"They are all ungrateful!"
Zheng Qing cursed angrily, throwing the envelope in his hand on the desk. It was uncertain whether he was cursing at his spineless companions in front of him, the student officials of the Club Union who spoke in official jargon, or the fat cat casually grooming its paws on the fat man’s belly.
