Butler Simpson was seen carrying the wounded and battered Edna in his arms, a couple of healers rushing towards them to heal her.

She was carried somewhere outside the arena , as the healers tended to her injuries.

" Speaking of duels Kailen, how about we have one?"

Donalds voice drew the attention of everyone.

The reporters and onlookers were literally over the roof after what they had just heard .

However their hopes were dashed by Helena’s words " Do you guys want to destroy the whole arena . The arena may be able to withstand the power of awakened up to the S rank, but you two are a different case"

Donalds was not one to give up " How about we limit our power to just the A rank, not even the S rank. It will just be a battle of weapons and pure physcal strength . I think that will be acceptable right?" If Donalds had said this someone else, it would have been extremely weird.Telling someone who was technically not even an A ranked awakener to limit his strength to the A rank? However saying this to Kailen, a B ranked awakener possessing the strength of a national level Guardian Awakener did not sound strange. Kailen contemplated Donalds words,nodding.

He could use this an opportunity to see how strong he had gotten after entering the A rank. In this fight, he’d literally be relying on his A ranked power and probably a katana. He was not gonna involve any shadow creatures.

The duo headed towards a portion of the arena to choose weapons .

Kailen stared at the katana hanging on rack for a few seconds ,sighing inwardly as he recalled a momeory " To think I’d sell the katana father crafted for me after completing my katana training with him. Just what was I thinking back then" He shook away those thoughts. He couldn’t really blame himself for selling the katana since he was starving seriously at the time. But well, in a way ,still, he could have at least controlled his hunger right?

Never mind. The last was in the past. He had to focus on this friendly duel now.

The duo proceded to the Arena under the anticapatory gazes of the onlookers,Kailen wielding a katana and Donalds wielding a metallic staff.

" Right, in the battle videos I’ve seen of him, he always used a staff"

Kailen mused inwardly.

[ Technically, you are at the A rank. However even without the aid of your shadow creatures ,you can crush some S ranked awakeners. Don’t forget the foundation you laid for yourself by having your first breakthrough in the time Dilation Artifact. At the time you were a D ranked awakener ,however you could defeat D ranked diabolic beasts even without the shadow creatures. It should be no surprise that that foundation would reflect in all your breakthroughs]

Kailen nodded at the time Dilation artifact’s words. It made complete sense to him.

However didn’t that mean that he was gonna crush Donalds?.

He mused inwardly, as the duo separated after clashing one last time.

Kailen’s euphoria for battle stirred. He felt at home in the arena, his blood boiling.

" It’s been a while someone managed to make my blood boil this much. Interesting!" Donalds chuckled, shooting towards Kailen.

The duo clashed once more exchanging flurry of attacks,each clash causing gusts of wind to spread throughout the arena.

" Are they really fighting with the strength of A ranked awakeners?"

An S ranked awakener asked, shocked.

" The strength of these guys at the A rank is enough to topple some S ranked awakeners. These guys are literally monsters. As expected of National Guardian Level awakeners"

The sentiments of those who had just spoken were shared by majority in the crowd.

The duo clashed over and over again, the intensity ,speed and force of their attacks increasing. Each move packing profund power.

Very soon, their weapons gave in to the intensity of their clashes ,breaking apart.

However no one was willing to give in.

No, they were not competing . They were enjoying the fight. The thrill of battle, blood pumping trade of fists and legs.

What made others shocked was how Kailen fought the man with such skill,as though he were an experienced veteran of the battlefield , seasoned through countless fights.

Kailen himself was shocked about how he was doing it. Compared to his father , Donalds seemed easy to fight. No ,it wasn’t about the strength even . It was about the way the man attacked. Kailen felt that the man’s attacks were too easy to predict ,too easy to counter.

" Father’s training. It’s now revealing its benefits. I’m not using shadow manipulation to determine the trajectory of his attacks. I’m using my instincts, my experience honed from sparring with father"

Kailen’s attention almost drifted to the dairy probably containing secrets about his parents that he could only unlock after getting to the ascendant stage. However he shook his head.

Heck , from a closer look,it seemed as though he was enjoying the fight with the older man. However he could end it at anytime. It sounded absurd.
