Fake Marriage To The Richest Tycoon-Chapter 97: Shouldn’t have brought him home
Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Shouldn’t have brought him home
"Ah! Fuck!" Shentu Jing cursed.
The moment he moved just a little bit, the "bed" he was lying on broke, and he tumbled off, dropping into a swimming pool!
SPLASH!
Qin Zhuzhu was listening to some happy music when something dropped from above, right outside her window, into the pool.
It was strange, but she felt very happy today. The weather was very nice too. The birds seemed to understand her mood, as they started singing happily.
Qin Zhuzhu picked up her phone and dialed a number. Shentu Jing pulled himself out of the pool, rubbing the water out of his eyes. His clothes were all wet.
He looked up from where he had fallen, squinting his drowsy eyes against the sunlight.
That was about ten meters high. Which person had put him on the awning to let him suffer such a miserable fate?
Shentu Jing was fuming. Water burst upwards as he hauled himself up onto dry land.
"Hey, Brother Peixuan, can you do me a favor?" she asked, a little nervous.
"Oh, it’s my sister-in-law! Say, what do you want me to do?" Peixuan Ruxi’s tone was cheerful as always.
"I’m no longer your sister-in-law. Don’t call me that," she said, watching from her window as Shentu Jing crawled miserably out of the pool.
"Why do you say something so heartbreaking?" Peixuan Ruxi exaggerated on the other end of the line.
"Shentu Jing and I are over," she said firmly.
"But he really likes you," Peixuan Ruxi sounded disappointed.
"But it was fake. We were just trying to cheat and please his grandfather. Hey, don’t go off topic. I called you because you’re the only one who can do it. My uncle is in Shengjing."
"You want me to pick up your uncle? Sure!" he was quick to reply.
"No, wait! That’s not what I mean. I want you to—no, my uncle wants to ask you to investigate Jiang Wubai for him," Qin Zhuzhu quickly corrected herself.
Peixuan Ruxi was silent for a few moments. Qin Zhuzhu knew that she was in a very dangerous situation. She was asking for help from the King of the Underworld. The King was known for being cruel and very calculative.
"Please?" she added.
"Okay. But my services aren’t free!"
"What do you want? I don’t have enough money if it costs millions or thousands," she laughed.
Because an apartment in Shengjing cost a few thousand to near a million, Qin Zhuzhu was going to become broke again until she could find a job.
She should have rented a cheaper apartment, but there was no time to search for one.
"Don’t worry. I, Peixuan Ruxi, don’t lack money. Hmm... Maybe I’ll tell you when I need it. For now, you owe me one."
"Alright. And there’s another thing I would like to know."
"What thing? Say it!"
"Um... Shentu Jing, he..."
"Hahaha, you finally found out that your husband is Shentu Jing! That’s great!" Peixuan Ruxi laughed cheerfully.
"Why is it great?" Qin Zhuzhu sensed that he wasn’t telling her something.
"Because you are entangled with him! You like him, right? Don’t deny it."
"What? No way!" But Qin Zhuzhu was too quick to deny it, and she realized that she might have sounded fake.
Ugh, why was it so difficult? ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
"Stop going off topic. I want to know about him. Is he really...?"
"Crazy? Insane? Got girlfriends and affairs?" Peixuan Ruxi completed her hanging sentence shamelessly.
"All the things he told you are true, including about himself. Only his identity and family were kept hidden from you. Sister-in-law, it’s not good to pry into his family’s business. They are very nasty, trust me. You don’t want to know," he discouraged her.
When he mentioned the part about having no girlfriends or affairs, Qin Zhuzhu felt an inexplicable wave of calmness wash over her, as if a heavy burden had been lifted.
"Brother Peixuan, I understand. Could you please not tell him that I asked about him?" Qin Zhuzhu didn’t want Shentu Jing to know, as she felt a little awkward. After all, she was supposed to have nothing to do with him.
"Sure. You obviously care about him, yet you won’t let him know. Why torture yourself so?"
Qin Zhuzhu went silent at his statement before denying it.
"Hey, since you are free today, why don’t we meet up? I have something to say to you in person," Peixuan Ruxi suddenly offered.
"What is it?"
"Something that you have been investigating." Then Peixuan Ruxi hung up.
Something that she has been investigating? Seems like there was nothing to hide from the King of the Underworld.
She put her phone down and looked out the window. Shentu Jing was nowhere to be seen. Did he leave so soon?
Breakfast was almost done. The food was heating up in the oven. She walked over to her small living room. She stepped on some puddles of water on the way.
Hmm... I don’t remember spilling water on my floor.
Suddenly, a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist tightly, startling her.
"Ah!"
She was then pressed against a muscular chest, soaked with water.
Because the floor became even wetter, she almost slipped, but that pair of strong arms held her steady.
"Putting me high up there was a good idea, Little Pearl," he breathed in her ear.
Qin Zhuzhu’s pounding heart calmed down when she heard that familiar voice. How did he get in?
She looked over her shoulder to give him a cheeky smile.
"I’m sure you must have sleepwalked there yourself," she laughed, trying to clear the tense atmosphere.
"Really? Then it’s really a coincidence that I happened to sleepwalk all the way to your apartment and up the roof," his voice was low and dangerous.
Qin Zhuzhu wanted to cry. She felt like she had brought disaster upon herself by bringing him to her apartment. She should have left him on the streets next time.
"It’s a coincidence, pure coincidence," she said to appease him. The Shentu Jing right now had become more fearful and dangerous than ever because she knew his real identity.
