Chapter 132: Acceptance of SIN

Of course, Axel himself could isolate that with his own mana, so that it would detect no changes in the surroundings, Lucien would realize he had been compromised sooner or later, and Axel didn’t have that patience. Lucien needed him because his value was increasing as an individual asset day by day; as such, he couldn’t do anything to disregard him. The reason why he instantly destroyed it was clear: it was a warning not to ever do such a thing again.

Axel would not be taken seriously if he continues to compromise, because no matter how intelligent Lucien thinks he himself is, as a dragon bloodline holder, he unconsciously values those people more who hold more strength, and he does not even realize that fact.

The bloodline effects of another 7 ruling species are too strong on a human; as such, it’s hard to realize consciously what is affecting you and what is not. It’s entirely possible that Axel himself was being passively affected by the demon bloodline within him, but the effects were likely very minuscule at the moment, since the purity of his demon blood is a bit too low for it to do anything significant. But that will change drastically as it purifies more and more with him growing stronger.

For those reasons, Axel always tried to never back down against Lucien. If he were a mere Runecaster with no actual combat strength, he would not have been taken seriously by the prince. He sighed to himself, now it was time, time to face his demon phantom again.

Everything was ready, though there was still one weak point which he wasn’t able to cover up. Which is that he would not be able to bring any of his runic swords with him into his secondary aspect chamber. So, he would have to fight it hand-to-hand, and he didn’t really have much experience in that regard. Axel preferred to always fight with a sword in his hand; it only seemed natural, as if that was just how it was supposed to be.

It almost felt wrong fundamentally to fight without his sword, he frowned to himself, What is this? Is it a negative effect of the ’runic swordsman’ skill? There is no guarantee that he would always have a sword in hand. So, learning to fight without any weapons is also very much necessary.

He looked around his room, where he was sitting in a lotus position, ready to enter his secondary aspect chamber. He brought enough potions and all the other necessary things in case he vomited blood after being defeated, similar to before, which he was pretty sure would happen again this time as well. It would be a wonder if he could defeat that demon phantom of his anytime soon at that.

Opening the Nexus Panel and uttering the magic words, he was at the front of his ominous and majestic-looking Sanctum. The gigantic gates opened as he stepped inside with some obvious hesitation in his heart.

He again saw the wretched view of his Demonic Aspect Chamber, countless dead bodies, a red sky with blackish clouds hovering above it, a crimson river flowing right beside all of this, unending in its length, unfaltering in its flow. The smell of fresh blood permeated every single particle of the air. Axel frowned as he looked all around him in the sky; there were no traces of that ever-so-hateful and mind-bending scarlet radiance.

But his frown eased in the next moments, uh, yes, that’s right. This is the starting point, he was never able to see the scarlet light, he would only be able to see it in the next uphill section. Surprisingly, Sin was right there, he could see him, a bit far away, he was observing the river of blood intently.

He walked forward slowly, activating his runic eyes, which were now usable even within his 2nd aspect chamber. As he reached a certain distance from it, the phantom looked back at him, a devilish grin on its face, and the same glowing runic pattern as him on its eyes, Axel scowled internally even though he had fully expected such a thing to happen, but looking at its grinning face, it still pissed him off very badly.

Sin stated with an amusing undertone, "So, you finally dared to step back here? It took you longer than expected. It seems I gave you quite a bit of trauma to work with. Oh, sorry, no, not me, it was the scarlet light which ticked you off."

Axel snorted in derision, "Then, you also know I can fight without needing to see it?"

Sin turned towards him, the amusement in its eyes becoming even greater, "Uh, yes. The Energy Sense is non-aspectual, but I can use it as well. So, I doubt it makes too much difference."

It added this time on a serious note, with no trace of amusement in its voice, "But if you think avoiding the scarlet light is the way to overcome it, you are so very, very wrong."

"You do not get rid of obsession by avoiding it, but rather by accepting it, confronting it, and embracing it," revealed Sin. freewebnøvel.com

Axel mocked, "Oh, please, the last thing I would do is take advice from a wretched demonic existence like you? That would be the biggest joke if I began to believe your words."

Sin smiled and shook its head, hearing that, and did not say anymore, as it kept looking at him, waiting for his next move. While Axel dismissed the thought entirely, since demons were the incarnation and accumulation of all the sins and negativity of the world Will, that is how they came to be, from what he knew.

But despite not believing its words even a bit, he had no choice but to consider it; there might actually be some hidden truth to it, after all. He sighed and asked, "So, should we go to that section? From that place where the scarlet light is visible again? Or simply start here?"

Sin chuckled, "You need to overcome me first, the first part of your first sin, the sin of obsession."

For some reason, those words ticked Axel off more than he would expect; he wasn’t sure of the reason why, and right then and there, he attacked the phantom with all his power he could muster. Sin also changed its posture and tackled the attack with relative ease.

Bang, Bang.....Bang.......Bang.......

Their fists clashed against each other relentlessly, with surprising maneuverability, Axel avoided many blows sent by Sin since it was quite big, Axel snickered internally, yes both of them were using the runic eyes, but there was one thing about Sin which was different from the phantoms he fights in his runic chambers challenge. They were proficient with every capability from the very start, as they were but animated figures, copies of him.

But Sin was sentient to a large extent from what he could tell, so even though it was using his mutated runic eyes, it could not use them as well as he, heck, not even close. Not to mention, the runic eyes it had were being powered by the demonic energy instead of mana, and that energy doesn’t power the runic eyes as it was supposed to, hampering its functions. Which makes it more burdensome rather than being helpful in the battle.
