Extra's Path To Demon King-Chapter 131: Attempt on Spying
Chapter 131: Attempt on Spying
How all 5 creatures showed fear towards the Ashen flames of the sword caught everyone’s attention. Thorian slashed at the creature’s body without putting too much strength into it. Since he had stopped supplying mana to the swords, he could feel the ashen flames slowly losing their strength. He could easily deduce from this how disgustingly energy-consuming the sword is, but now he would need to see if the effects of it were truly worth it.
"KRAAA-AAARGH!"
When the casual swing of his sword hit the body of the tough creature, it shrieked loudly in fear and in pain. Everyone focused their eyes on the point where the flames had struck. And they all showed utter shock, and the man in question, who made such swords, bathed in that feeling of awe directed towards him from everyone.
The part where where the flame had struck, the whole section of it, slowly burned and turned to ash, the flame only hit a small part of its body, but for a creature which is known for its extremely high defense and durability, for it to have its outer skin broken down so easily is indeed a matter of great shock. Thorian clenched his fists, holding the sword in excitement.
’Damn, its worth it, far more than worth it.’ he stated internally in excitement.
The moment the first test was over by Thorian, the others hurriedly picked up one weapon each who were at the front of the lines, they all tested each of the effects from the sword, individually, one after another. The ones who had already tested the weapon, especially Prince Thorian, wanted to immediately buy swords of multiple categories, but Axel instantly shot down his offer. One person can only buy one sword each today.
So, he asked what the price of each weapon was. But Axel did not answer, he told him amiably that he would reveal it after everyone was done testing. Many people joined in later on, news travelled really, really fast. But he did not let anyone else test out the swords after a total of 50 people had done the testing. And only those 50 could buy the swords from him. If they have enough money to buy them, that is.
Axel ideally wanted to sell exactly 50 of his swords to the 50 people who tested them each. He declared loudly to everyone, "Alright, to everyone, the price of each of my swords will be 25 mana crystals."
Hearing that each of the students showed varied expressions, from understanding to a small frown, or annoyance, maybe. Some were even surprised, considering the quality of the weapon, even 30 mana crystals would be a fair price.
To give a bit more context on this, most of the small operations in the academy can actually be done with just one mana crystal or less. The body of a 1st-tier beast is valued at 5 mana crystals when selling to the academy, a 2nd-tier beast is priced at 10 mana crystals.
Most of the normal weapons on Archon Grade tier 1 are priced at 15-20 mana crystals. So, for most, 25 mana crystals are a pretty hefty amount to pay for a mere artifact. But considering its effectiveness of it, that price could actually be considered cheap.
In the end, it wasn’t an unreasonable amount; in fact, no one even dared to object to that price, while some were coming from poor backgrounds, but they had saved enough money to buy the sword without too much problem.
Thus, they all ended up buying the swords, there was not a single one left. Unsurprisingly, many people who were unable to attend the testing and thus were unable to participate in buying the runic swords, came forward, wishing to know when he would sell again. he gave a vague answer to them that he would announce it later on.
He closed the shop for that day, and everyone who brought the swords rushed towards private training halls or the beast forest of the academy, wanting to test them on the beasts right away. News soon spread wide and far that the one and only Axel Nomrad were selling the best type of runic weapons within Archon Grade Tier 1, the whole academy was in an uproar at the ridiculous claims of the abilities possessed by the weapons, but when the exaggerated rumors were actually proven to be true, it was that moment that Axel’s popularity and importance reached its peak.
It became the source of another political imbalance, considering how many talented individuals were already in this generation coming from the Suncrest Great Kingdom, but the already tipped balance seemed to be going even higher towards imbalance. The descendants of the higher echelons of the other 2 kingdoms became tense at that. But other smart ones used that opportunity to create a good connection with Axel himself, hoping for future trade. Which is completely within his own right to be able to trade with other organizations, even outside the country.
Students from the other sections also became interested in buying his rune-engraved weapons. Another significant event happened later that very day of his first selling his weapons. A furious 4th prince appeared right on his door, and the moment he opened the door, the guy punched him in the face straight while putting a good amount of strength behind it, completely catching him off guard. He didn’t expect to be punched by him like that and scowled in anger.
"Don’t you think I deserved to at least know when you were to sell the weapons?" asked Lucien with visible annoyance.
Axel stood up and glared at him, "You know very well why I didn’t tell you that, and didn’t Lumina deliver my message to you properly? Or are those words too hard to understand for you?"
"Yes, yes, I know, and yes, I am thrilled for the fact you are going to make a personal weapon for me, but I still feel sour that I couldn’t put my hands on an initially-made sword of yours. Words about your weapons are reaching out to everyone like a literal wildfire."
Axel snickered in response, "Oh please, considering how rich you are, just buy one weapon of mine from someone else. That’s it, problem solved. Don’t overcomplicate things."
"Tsk, Ungrateful Bastard." Lucien said in disdain.
Axel snorted and did not say more, The 4th prince left his apartment after that. After the guy left his apartment, he activated his runic eyes and scanned his room carefully, he narrowed his eyes at a certain section, of course the bastard didn’t come merely here to complain, the bastard left a chuck of his compacted mana here, hiding it thoroughly, right in front of him at that, and he didn’t even realize how the guy was able to be so discreet about it.
Axel used his own mana to destroy all traces of it, the chunk of compact mana left by Lucien couldn’t exactly spy on him, but it can detect the changes mana wave and activity within this apartment as a whole and that itself could send back that info to Lucien, and considering the cunning bastard he was, he would no doubt be able to infer a lot just from that history of mana activity alone.
