Chapter 850: Resolve backed by achievement

While Wu Long was studying the formations, ritual and the knowledge contained within the Vault, Cai Yin didn’t break concentration the whole time as well.

Gradually, she came to terms with having those negative emotions, realizing it wasn’t ‘taboo’ to harbor them. Rather, it was normal. And at the same time, she could not let them control her.

In order to do that, she had to face the causes of that anger, resentment, and hurt.

Those causes, were painful memories that birthed them, and the sense of insecurity and betrayal that she tucked into a tight chest and hid away at the bottom of her Soul Sea.

She also had to forgive herself for being manipulated.

Anyone would tell her it was not her fault, since it began when she was a child, with special techniques of a Soul Cultivator who wished to control her. But it wasn’t a rational problem to begin with, and thus could not be solved by rational explanation.

Someone who was manipulated would always blame themselves first and foremost, deep down in their consciousness, after they woke up to the manipulation and broke away from it. Even more, perhaps, than they blame the actual manipulator. It can be perceived as weakness, stupidity and failure of oneself.

Being around the Wu Family allowed Cai Yin to seep into comfort, running away from all that. And that was exactly what Wu Long wanted, since she was not strong enough yet, her mental state was too unstable to handle facing all of it.

Now, however, the time she spent in warm and soothing atmosphere allowed her to recover enough strength to face her demons.

As she focused on taking control of her Soul Sea, not just hiding the storm that ravaged it away from her eyes like she did before, but becoming the master of it, she also meditated on the Soul Dao through meditation techniques of Soul Cultivators, since in her case such deep meditation on one’s emotional turmoil could directly leak into harmful Soul Power into her surroundings.

And it wasn’t like Soul Techniques did not help her more easily face her problems.

At one point, though, she suddenly realized that she did not have to deny part of her memories spent under the supervision of her Teacher. That she did not have to erase them, but to accept them as part of her past, as part of the process of forgiving her own ineptitude of being led by the nose.

The main challenge in her Soul Cultivation at the moment was the Form Creation step, a step where she had to give her Soul Power an actual form, a shape that would solidify its existence, and allow it to manifest in the boundary between the material and immaterial of the outer world.

Right now, her Soul Power looked like strands of formless translucent smoke of whitish color, a sign she could not condense it into a shape.

However, as she accepted her memories as part of her past, and started to come to terms with what happened, a single memory came into her mind.

It was of the first time she succeeded in actually controlling her Soul Power that raged uncontrollably before, driving people around her mad.

At the time, she was sitting in a meditative pose in the Tingren Kingdom’s Royal Palace Garden, and the dance of two colorful carps in the pond captivated her, allowing her to focus.

On the 6th day of the opening of the Secret Realm, Wu Long’s eyelids twitched and opened, as he turned to the side where Cai Yin’s figure was floating mid-air in a meditative lotus pose, and then a look of anticipation appeared in his eyes.

More and more of the translucent smoke-like energy started appearing around Cai Yin, starting to rotate around her and gradually form into two masses.

The masses very gradually came together, and became vague shapes, which bit by bit started to become more and more detailed, and more solid-like.

And then, finally they took an actual shape.

Two fish, the decorative carps that could be seen in almost any palace or mansion of nobles, but colorless and translucent, slightly resembling the look of soap-bubbles, but more ethereal and made of purely whitish almost ghost-like energy, giving off a profound feeling.

‘Incredible’, Wu Long marveled at the sight, as he could feel the pure Soul Power which took form and manifested. But what surprised him, was that she was actually able to give them such almost life-like appearance already.

Of course, there were still parts where they were vague, and if one looked closely, it really did look like a soap bubble with the details of the fish scales, gills, and fins completely missing, having only overall shape, excessively smooth to be an actual fish.

But the fact she came this far right away, was already an insane amount of progress. The most he was hoping for was a vague shape of something, of course, he didn’t know what it would actually be.

What also surprised him, that she gave shape to two at once. freёweɓnovel.com

Most true Soul Cultivators, as rare as they are, start with one entity, and only gradually increase the number as they get more experience and increase their cultivation. Not to mention, one had to have enough Soul Power to form them, as these two life-sized carps were all the Soul Power that Cai Yin had.

Hong Yue and Gong Liwei who were also meditating took notice of the phenomenon, looking with surprise at the surreal sight of two translucent ghostly carps seemingly swimming around Cai Yin as if they were in water.

There were even light wave patterns appearing sometimes as they moved.

The two carps then started swimming faster, and with a flick of their tails, swam back heading to Cai Yin’s forehead, creating a brief flash of light at the point of her Niwan Palace in between her eyebrows when they disappeared leaving only slight wave patterns behind which faded shortly after.

They then appeared within her Niwan Palace, in the skies above the Soul Sea which was still in turmoil.

And as soon as they sank into the Soul Sea, a formless wave of Soul Power spread through it, the entire raging storm and bubbling from within becoming frozen in time, and then slowly starting to transform into a completely still surface, a tranquil sea, with two fish swimming in a circle.

Cai Yin’s eyes opened, a glow of whitish energy from within them mixing with a tranquil and joyous look.

Her pose changed as she put down her legs which gently floated down to touch the floor. And this time, she was not able to hold back, beginning to hop up and down on the spot with a joyful giggle.

“Hahaha… ehehehe, s-succeeded! It worked!!!”, her eyes then turned to Wu Long, full of excitement, meeting a gentle and congratulating gaze which was genuinely happy for her.

“Congratulations, Fairy Cai Yin”, he smiled with a nod.

Her eyes filled with joy, while she seemingly melted inside from that gaze. And a certain resolve solidified in her mind, riding high on the success of what she achieved. She knew that it was not the right timing now, within the Secret Realm, but she already knew the first thing she wanted to do after coming out of it.
