Chapter 1166: Chapter 1171: Determining One’s True Heart 7
"If you’re unwilling, I will never forgive Bai Jingqing. We brothers will become enemies, and it could even turn into a fight to the death. Is that what you want to see? Think it over." With those words, Bai Ruiqing strode away.
Bai Qianqian felt weak, on the verge of falling. She propped herself up with a hand against the cold ceramic tiles, just managing to stay standing.
Upon emerging from the hospital room, Bai Jingqing spotted Bai Qianqian. He hurried towards her, but his injuries prevented him from moving quickly. In his haste, he almost fell.
Bai Qianqian came to her senses and rushed over to support him. Seeing his wounds, she became anxious and her heart ached. "Why did you come out?"
"I wanted to check on Ruiqing. What happened to you? Are you crying?" Bai Jingqing asked anxiously, holding her face in his hands.
Bai Qianqian shook her head, and Bai Jingqing, pursing his lips, said, "Let’s go in."
Bai Qianqian assisted him back to his hospital room.
Bai Ruiqing watched their retreating figures, hatred flashing in his eyes. He turned back into his room, slamming the door shut with a resounding bang.
Bai Jingqing and Bai Qianqian looked in his direction, their hearts trembling at the sound.
"Damn, who does that? Who slams a door so loudly, nearly scaring me to death." Huangfu Ye emerged and saw Bai Qianqian. He immediately said, "Little Qianqian, you’re here at last. Please convince my second brother not to go see Bai Ruiqing. That guy’s like a madman right now. If you go, wouldn’t be surprised if he stabbed you to death."
Bai Jingqing’s expression darkened and he glared at Huangfu Ye. "Shut up."
Bai Qianqian’s face was equally bleak - Bai Ruiqing’s earlier words had unsettled her deeply.
Bai Qianqian helped Bai Jingqing back onto the bed. Huangfu Ye said, "Why should I shut up, Qianqian? I went to see Bai Ruiqing yesterday. That boy...he’s hell-bent on killing his brother. Really. He’s an ingrate."
"Have you had enough? That’s my brother, and I won’t let you speak ill of him. Ruiqing’s just not thinking clearly at the moment, but I believe in his inherent goodness," Bai Jingqing replied, furrowing his brows.
"He’s trying to kill you and you’re still defending him!" Huangfu Ye found it unbelievable.
"If you were in his shoes, if you were Ruiqing, what would you do?"
Bai Jingqing responded with a question. It was impossible for him to resent his brother, considering he himself was at fault for this predicament. He was willing to bear Ruiqing’s rage, but the unjust treatment on Qianqian was what hurt him the most.
Huangfu Ye, "..."
Don’t ask him that question; it gave him a headache. Upon secretly contemplating, he too would want to mince Bai Jingqing and feed him to some small animal...
"I’ll tell you this: I might resent you, I might go crazy, but in the end, I’d forgive you, because you are my sibling, my brother!" Huangfu Ye earnestly answered.
Bai Jingqing nodded, "I put faith in Ruiqing. He’s just in the early stages of anger. He’ll come to understand eventually."
Huangfu Ye, "..."
Why did he think that would be exceedingly difficult?
"Little Qianqian, since you’re here, I’ll leave my second brother in your hands. I’ll go back to shower and change clothes, and I’ll return tonight. Someone will bring you food, so don’t worry." With that, Huangfu Ye winked at Bai Qianqian before taking his leave.
"Did you not sleep last night?" Bai Jingqing asked, sitting down with Bai Qianqian and lightly caressing her cheek with concern, the dark circles under her eyes indicating a sleepless night.
Bai Qianqian nodded, "I couldn’t sleep."
"You’ve been wronged. You shouldn’t have had to bear all this."
