Chapter 82: Whole Other World
Lily looked around after he left her in the entrance way. She looked out seeing how far down it was not wanting to test her powers right then. She had used them and wasn’t sure about how it would effect her now. He must have sensed her low energy or he wouldn’t have taken her like that. Finding out Dimitri had a twin brother was shocking, but then hearing that he wished him dead, hurt more.
Until they arrived at the sight of the crater he had no idea his brother was alive or that the toxin was coming from him. Dimitri’s twin seemed not only to have adapted to his body but grown stronger with it, having abilities different the Dimitri’s. *Two sides to a coin.*
A balance is always supposed to be met and they were no exception. The cycle of the gods always continues in some way or another. But she had no intention of letting history continuously repeat itself with tiny variations. He life was not up to the gods to decide and she wasn’t one to give up a choice that was hers to make.
Moving down further into the cave she could smell something cooking and others speaking in hushed tones. She had to close her eyes to let them adjust to the darkness so she could see the shadows moving around her. They were so silent and calm they didn’t even touch her when she passed by. Walking over to where her mate’s twin was he was speaking with some of the other shadows who then bowed and left him.
"You found your way down. I wasn’t sure you would. Come." He gestured for her to follow him. He led her down another tunnel more a one person hallway that opened into a bigger cavern under ground. "Wow. Look at all that color." He chuckled hearing her childish reply. They continued until he went through another tunnel on the other side of the cavern going further down into the earth.
"Are you sure I’ll be able to breath down here?" He turned to her as she ran into him almost falling when he catches her. They are a breath apart before he rights her holding her up speaking softly to her. "I have lived down here my whole life studying these tunnels and making knew ones. At first yes it was hard, but more tunnels meant more air. Now we have air vents to let the exchange of air in. My people have worked hard on this. But they like myself have been afflicted with this toxin."
She stepped back after gaining her footing listening to his words. "So your not the source?" He looked at her annoyed, but sighed in frustration. "No, I am not. When my mother discarded me I was just in the radius of the toxin and was effected the most, but I did not cause this level of destruction." They continued walking Lily grabbed his arm so she knew where he was and wouldn’t trip again. He didn’t shake her hand away either.
Stopping at a door he opened it to reveal a modest room and what looked to be a bathroom through a curtain covered closet. "Feel free to clean up. I know my brother will take a couple days to get here. He’s only been allowed to approach the borders before. This will be all new territory to him. Take this time to see whats here. Don’t try to use your powers here they won’t work. It could actually hurt you."
He walked out closing the door, leaving her confused as hell about what he really wanted from her. Was she a captive or a guest? By the looks of the room she almost thought guest when she went to try and leave there was a servant waiting for her outside the door. *Guest with house arrest. Got it.* Going back into the room Lily figured she would make use of the bathroom after the rough ride here.
Her ribs were a bit bruised and she only had her research pack on her with minimal supplies. Pulling it out. All her samples were still safe and contained. Setting them down under a towel she checked her supplies seeing that her healing potion was still full and her bandage kit was still intact as well. The small brown bottle at the bottom still had meds in it so she popped the top downing two.
One was usually enough, but with her energy depleted like it was she needed a bigger bust. Knowing it might rock her a bit she breathed slowly before the first wave hit her almost dropping her to her knees. Lily made it past the curtain into what looked like a pool of continuous water carved into the wall. Her body was heating up so she only had so much time before the waves hit her faster.
She didn’t like using this method of energy rejuvenation but she was crunched for time and wouldn’t go anywhere defenseless. The next waves started to hit her as she stepped into the water, clothes and all. *Fuck this is gonna hurt.*
Her muscles contracted as they healed, stretching and filling, moving over her body causing spasms every where. She went further into the water needing the pressure of the water on her body. Lily could hold her breath for long periods of time and was relying on this to finish her healing process. The next few waves hit but if one looked at the pool they would only see ripples in the water.
Lily concentrated on her body’s need for energy calling it to her, aiding in her healing process. What she didn’t think about was the toxin wanting to rush to the energy the minute it was available. Remembering what Dimitri taught her about dragon’s breath and how he used it under water.
*Don’t be afraid of the fire. Embrace it!* Using her element of air she wrap a bubble of air around her face breathing in before breathing out white hot fire, evaporating the water as well as incinerating the toxin from the water. The energy quickly went to her as she absorbed it into her body gaining most of her functions back.
A hand reached into the water at that moment pulling her out as she came face to face with a pissed off Twin Brother. "What did I tell you about using your powers?! You could have killed everyone here!" The shocked look on her face said she hadn’t even thought of that.
"This land is depleted! Empty! Nothing left! And what is left is highly protected just to feed us. So when I tell you not to do something, understand there is a good fucking reason for it! Now clean yourself up some of the elders are demanding to meet you." A servant with a dress and shoes came in ready to help.
"I’ve got it from here, thank you." The servant didn’t leave as Lily went about peeling her cloths off realizing there were no under garments with this dress. Just a slip and and over dress of soft blue cotton that reached the floor. "Did you make this?" Lily asked the girl she shook her head unsure if she should answer. "Its okay tell who ever made it I love it." The girl smiled helping her roll her hair back then braiding it to one side pulling a few strands here and there.
Her markings showed more with this dress then with her everyday cloths. Putting the slippers on Lily looks in the mirror seeing a far different person then what walked in. Shaking that off the servant opened the door to lead her out. "By the way what is your name?" The servant looked back at her pointing to her shoulder which had an image of a sunflower on it. "Sunflower?" The girl nodded smiling at her. "Thank you for telling me."
Sunflower led her down the hallway they came through then turned to the left and went up a set of stairs for a while. As they went up windows were carved out so one could see out them. And what she seen was not what she expected. There was a whole city under ground with people and creatures living together in relative harmony.
As she passed each window she could see more and more of the underground city amazed that no one thought to look this far. What Lady Kyoka thought as a useless son is in fact a savior to the discarded souls of this world. They found their way here and were able to begin a new life without prejudice.
Reaching a large door to which two guards opened for them, the two stepped through to see a council of creatures all with their own imperfections. There were three in higher chairs then the rest that seem to preside over the rest. "Now that the accused is here we can proceed."
"Excuse me?" Lily was confused about what was happening. "Lily Wolfman, you are here being charged with endangerment to our settlement, negligence, and damages incurred, and are being tried for these crimes."
"Fuck my life." Was all Lily could whisper under her breath.
