Claimed By A Dragon Prince-Chapter 44: Taking the Lead
Chapter 44: Taking the Lead
Dimitri watched Tylan, after his father made his announcement, who had a gleeful smile on his face. Dimitri knew Tylan wanted to see him fail and humiliate him at the first opportunity. Dimitri not wanting to worry about that pyro dragon lead his mate to the dance floor. Lily was worried since this one of the few areas of etiquette she hadn’t studied. "Dimitri, I hate to break it to you, but I don’t know how to dance."
He lead them to a spot on the floor turning her to face him. They bow to each other before stepping close, clasping hands holding each other for the dance. "Then I guess you will just have to follow my lead." Dimitri whispered to her as they began to move moving with the crowd to a style of waltz she was not familiar with, but trusted him to lead her through it.
At first Lily was stiff and afraid to make a fool of herself, but Dimitri pulled her in closer and took control. He moves her body along his while spinning her into the steps, lifting her when required. She started to relax half way through the dance moving more fluidly with him matching his steps. Lily felt herself starting to enjoy the feel of the movement as he guided her into a lift and tip, pulling her in close to end the dance.
A round of applause broke out as they righted themselves seeing that they had been the only ones on the dance floor. Bowing to the crowd the Dragon King walks up to them clapping. "That was splendid! Truly! I didn’t know you could move like that with a woman. I am glad I was wrong, especially for such a charming woman like yourself." Dimitri was irritated at the comment, but Lily squeezed his hand tipping her head to the King.
"I try my best to help my prince dazzle his people when possible. He does have a kind, caring side which does he guard rather fiercely. Hopefully with me around you might be able to see more of it." Lily knew this would make the Dragon King happy as several people were listening to the interaction.
"Do take to the floor again before the end of the night. I do so enjoy the show you two put on for the crowd." Dimitri and Lily bow to him as he walks away, they themselves move to the prince’s resting area. Nina brought them both something to drink. "Thank you." Nina smiled then bowed walking back to her place. "I’m surprised your father singled us out like that. He seems to favor you more then I thought." frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
Dimitri took a sip of his glass looking about the room also seeing many looking their way assessing their movements. Turing his body to block the people watching them he leans down and kisses Lily sweetly on the lips. A few gasped in the crowd at the action of the prince showing affection to his mate as he usually had a cold, stoic demeanor. Lily’s cheeks pinked up as she realized what he was doing.
Pulling apart he kept her arm in his as he showed her to the buffet table full of various foods. "All of this has been tested so choose what you like." Lily walked along the table choosing a couple things as Nina came to take her glass. Dimitri found that she had similar taste in that she avoided salty foods.
They sat at a table nibbling at their plates watching the crowd as the crowd watched them. "Is this how you are always looked at or have we made a spectacle of ourselves?" Lily asked taking a bite of apple the juices leaking out the side of her mouth. Dimitri quickly reached up gently whipping the juice with his thumb bringing it to his lips to suck the juice off.
"We are making a spectacle of ourselves. I have been the "bad prince" for years and now they need to see that there judgements about me were made up of rumors and lies spurred on by the First Prince and he Queen." Lily was entranced by his action and what he said made sense. To turn the people around in his favor they had to see it with their own eyes to believe it.
Picking up a slice she presented it to her prince waiting for him to take a bite. He leaned forward biting all the way to her finger tips, nipping her slightly as he took his bite. Her breath caught at his brazen action knowing how many eyes were on them. "You are a dangerous man, my prince. Dangerous."
Dimitri smirked at her savoring the sweet fruit before Erik walks over to them. "Forgive me my prince, but there is disturbance at the front gates. Some one has been injured by a darkling dragon." Hearing this he stood immediately as did Lily preparing to go with him. "How bad is it?"
"The warrior is losing to much blood fast and our best healers are having a hard time capping the wound off. The Dragon moss they have isn’t adhering to the skin properly." Lily had been hearing about this ever since she arrived having asked Trinee to introduce her to a couple healers. They all had the same complaint, it wouldn’t stay attached tot he skin and would slide off.
Knowing she still had a fresh stock in her lab having cultivated it at the academy she quickly moved with Dimitri telling him as much. "Nina, I’m going to need help getting out of this dress. I have a change of clothes in my lab." Pulling out the key she always kept with her she opens the lab moving to one of the cabinets she had put a special lock on. Flaring her energy it unlocks the door popping open as the dragon moss was still intact.
Nina had already gotten to work unlacing the gown so when Lily stood it would fall to the floor. The crowd that followed her quickly turned around trying to give her a bit of privacy. Lily moved to the spare room off the lab grabbing her tunic and leather pants slipping them on then her socks and boots. She left her hair the way it was grabbing her black mid-chest jacket and her satchel to put the dragon moss in.
Coming out her prince had he dragon moss in his hands as Erik waited at he door. "Lets go. I tried not to take a lot of time." Dimitri nodded setting the the moss in her bag as she put the flap over it securing it with a belt. "Will this be enough?" "We will find out."
