Captive Mate BL-Chapter 530: + - +
Chapter 530: +Chapter 530+
Rosie started for the door after the call, she needed to inform Mafia King Asher about her next steps. The Mafia King had been really nice and accommodating in the past weeks, and it seemed like their alliance would still continue for the time being. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
When she got back to Asher’s study, there was one less person in the stately room, everyone seated in grim silence as she entered.
"I’ll be leaving shortly," She reported, a bit absentminded. "Davian and Lake should be back by tonight, I’ll be waiting for them when they do."
Caspian brightened up at this news, he knew that Lake would be returning early but he didn’t know the specifics. The near future might be looking grim but this was something for him to look forward to.
Jael rose to his feet without prompting from Asher, the designated mover for Rosie at that point.
"Thank you," Rosie nodded, she didn’t address anyone in particular because her appreciation was to everyone. They had made the lonely period she had to spend alone tolerable.
Caspian wanted to leave a message for Lake but he decided against it, he would eventually get to see his friend and he knew that Lake was about to be very busy.
"You’re welcome to visit anytime," He gave her a small smile, watching her leave with Jael in tow.
"Worried?" Asher’s teasing voice broke the tense silence after the door closed behind Jael.
"Naturally," Caspian sat up, if it was serious enough to put an end to Lake’s honeymoon, of course, he was worried.
"There’s no need to be," Asher pressed a light kiss on his jaw, "It’s just going to be a nuisance for the next couple weeks."
Caspian wasn’t convinced. He appreciated Asher telling him about it but he had never seen anything get his mate on his toes like this.

Rosie went right to Patty after leaving Asher’s study, the Beta was in the kitchen anteroom as usual, her pretty face serious as she tapped away on her laptop.
Patty looked up when they walked in, rising to her feet. "What’s going on?"
"I’m leaving," Rosie said, walking closer.
Patty frowned, thinking that Rosie meant her apartment, "Is that safe?"
"The mansion is." Rosie corrected, "Lake and Davian should be back by tonight." She kept repeating it to everyone to better adjust to it by the time night came.
That morning had started out normally, it was only early in the afternoon and everything had flipped on its head.
With Patty and Jael’s help, packing was over in no time, Jael driving her over to her Mafia King’s turf.
The mansion was mostly empty save for the men who guarded it constantly, regardless of if their Mafia King was home or not.
"Thanks, Jael," Rosie murmured. It felt like she had known him all her life and not just shy of a month.
Jael handed her the bag she took to the shooting range. "Keep this close," He replied gruffly.
Rosie took the bag with a nod. Jael didn’t need to keep playing bag boy because Davian’s men were all too eager to help her move her few bags into the mansion.
The situation was too tense for lighthearted jokes so they just silently parted ways. Rosie stood on the stairs as she watched Jael drive out, her pale eyes staring at nothing.
She shook out of it and made her way into the mansion. She had been here enough times that she knew her way around. It was spotless which was expected, keeping an eye on the cleaning service was part of her duties.
Rosie crossed the foyer with a spring in her step. They might be on the cusp of a battle with the High Council but Lake and Davian were returning so she had a difficult time seeing only the negatives.
Her things had been placed in a room in a different wing, unpacking was something she could do anytime so the first thing she did was do a quick check of the mansion. It was really big though so even a surface check took a little over an hour.
Everything looked to be in place, her survey ending in the kitchen. It was empty, completely. The fridges and shelves had been emptied out before Davian and Lake left for their vacation.
Even though it was completely empty, not even a speck of dust on the counters, Rosie could easily picture Davian and Lake in the kitchen. Davian would be scowling over the stove in an apron while Lake would be happily sprawled over the counter.
Rosie caught herself smiling, wondering why she had constantly turned down the offer to live here all this time.
She still kept the satchel that held her gun close, settling down to order groceries to fill up the kitchen again. Maybe she could convince Davian to bake her something with blueberries in it.

Davian muffled a sneeze in his arm, frowning at the open windows. If he were sneezing, then Lake would be a few minutes away from freezing into a block of ice.
He closed some windows, to reduce the airflow, returning to Lake’s side. The first rays of the sun were already peeking out, soon it would be completely bright and he would have to lose this perfect solitude.
Although, Davian got back on the bed, he didn’t go back to sleep, far from sleepy. Instead, he went over things in his head.
Lake rolled right into his arms, his sleeping mate bundled up so tight in the blankets that he considered reopening the windows.
He could get up and get a head start on packing up their luggage, but he was greedy, so he would sit tight and wait for Lake to wake up, then explain things before getting to work.
Davia would rather do all the heavy lifting alone but he knew that it would be next to impossible to convince Lake to let him do all of the packing. That wouldn’t stop him from trying regardless.
