Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System-Chapter 200: Humble Hero
Chapter 200: Chapter 200: Humble Hero
Luna took a trembling step forward.
She didn’t need anyone to guide her. The moment she heard Adam Waters say her name, something inside her clicked.
It was the same voice that had told her everything would be okay.
"...Adam?" she echoed, her voice barely a breath.
He turned toward her. "Luna?"
"Yes," she whispered again, her steps more certain now as she walked toward the sound.
The entire hall was silent, holding its breath. Even Nathan didn’t speak, watching closely as his daughter slowly crossed the room.
When she reached him, she paused. Then she reached out, her hands gently touching his arms, feeling the shape of his face.
She smiled, her eyes wet. "It’s you. It really is you."
Adam Waters looked stunned. "Wait—what’s going on?"
"I knew I’d recognize your voice if I heard it again," Luna said.
"That afternoon, I was terrified. You kept me calm. You hid me. You saved me."
Without waiting for a reply, she wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug.
Adam stood frozen, awkwardly patting her back with stiff hands.
"I...I’m glad you’re okay, but... could someone please tell me what’s happening?" he asked, genuinely confused.
Aurora took a step forward, her eyes watching everything calmly.
But before she could speak, Adam Price suddenly stepped up, his face tight with desperation.
"Oh, I see how it is now!" he said loudly, pointing a finger toward Adam Waters. "So this was your plan all along?"
Everyone turned to look at him.
Adam Price’s voice rose as he spoke faster, his tone now full of bitterness.
"You pretended to be some humble hero, but you’ve been working behind the scenes with Miss Dawn to steal my place! To twist the truth!"
Adam Waters frowned, still trying to process things.
"What are you talking about? I didn’t even know this was happening today."
"Lies!" Adam Price snapped, his voice echoing in the room.
"You always play innocent, but you’re the same snake you were back at the car shop. You drugged me and made me take the fall. I lost everything because of you!"
Gasps rippled through the crowd again.
"You show up now, after all this time, acting like some kind of savior. But I know the truth!
You probably planned that hotel rescue, didn’t you? Made yourself look like the hero while setting me up to fail again!"
Adam Waters stared at him, stunned. "That’s not true at all."
"Oh really?" Adam Price said, voice shaking.
"Then why did Miss Dawn invite you here? Why is Luna suddenly hugging a complete stranger like he’s family?"
Luna turned sharply toward the sound of Adam Price’s voice, her face no longer uncertain.
"Because I remember him," she said clearly.
"I don’t know what lies you’ve been feeding everyone, but this man—" she turned back to Adam Waters—"is the one who saved me. His voice never left my mind. It’s him."
Adam Price opened his mouth to argue again, but the crowd was no longer buying it.
Nathan stared at Adam Price with a sneer and said,
"So that is the reason why the prostitutes gave testimony that you were the drugged person...you were the ones who had hired them, and might have promised more money to lie, right?"
Colors drained from Adam Price’s face, and he tried to give a broken explanation, but Nathan wasn’t in the mood, so he waved his hand, and the bodyguards arrived.
The bodyguards moved swiftly, seizing Adam Price by both arms as he tried to retreat. He struggled, but their grip was iron-tight.
"Let go of me!" he shouted, eyes darting around the room for support. "This is a mistake!"
Nathan’s voice cut through the noise like a blade. "I have just one question, Adam Price."
He stepped forward, his face calm but his eyes burning.
"If you weren’t the one who saved Luna... then how did you know about the three knocks?"
The room went dead silent again.
Adam Price’s mouth opened, then closed. He hesitated.
"I told you," he muttered, "I was the one who rescued her..."
Nathan raised his hand lazily, and one of the bodyguards responded with a sharp slap to Adam Price’s cheek.
"Lying to me again?" Nathan’s voice was like ice. "Try one more time."
Adam Price winced, then finally broke.
"Fine! I was in the room," he admitted bitterly, panting slightly.
"I wasn’t the one who helped her, but I saw it happen. I saw the bodyguard knock three times before opening the box."
He struggled again, but the guards didn’t budge.
"After that, I... I pieced together what happened. I asked the prostitutes in the room later. They saw everything. They told me what that man—Adam Waters—did."
The crowd began murmuring again.
"And then?" Nathan asked coldly.
"I... I made sure that guy wouldn’t reach her," Adam Price confessed.
"I had someone stationed near the hotel. When Adam Waters came asking about Luna, they told him she was fine—that she had been rescued and taken home."
There was a long pause.
Nathan let out a humorless chuckle. "You’re smarter than I gave you credit for."
He looked Adam Price in the eye.
"If you’d used half of that cleverness in building something honest, you might’ve had your own company by now."
He turned to the guards. "Take him to the police. Identity fraud. Impersonation. Interfering with a rescue. Let the law finish this."
As the guards began to drag him out, Adam Price yelled wildly, his voice cracking.
"You all think he’s some saint?! He’s old! I’m younger, more talented! Luna can’t marry him—he’s already married!"
Gasps filled the room.
Luna stiffened.
Adam Waters looked completely taken aback. "Marry—what?"
Aurora’s sharp eyes flicked to Luna. For the first time, she saw unease—something deeper, more complicated in Luna’s expression.
She said nothing, but noted it silently.
The crowd was buzzing again.
A well-dressed woman leaned toward her friend and whispered,
"Imagine someone pretending to be a hero just to climb the ladder—disgusting."
Another man near the back sighed,
"It’s always the loudest ones who turn out to be fake. The real ones never brag."
A businessman in a gray suit muttered,
"And here I thought Mr. Price was the real deal. All he had was a stolen script."
A younger woman added, "So the credits he got from that story weren’t even his. Unreal."
Another elderly gentleman shook his head.
"Shame... you work all your life, and someone just shows up and steals your moment. Makes you question everyone."
A teen nearby whispered,
"I swear, the world’s full of imposters. Can’t trust anyone with a pretty speech these days."
Nathan turned slowly toward Adam Waters, his expression unreadable at first.
Then, with a deep breath, he stepped forward and gave a respectful nod.
"Mr. Waters," he said with sincerity, "thank you. Truly. I owe you more than an apology. I let an impostor steal your place and nearly your name. I’m sorry."
Adam Waters raised a hand, his voice calm and steady. "It’s alright. You didn’t know."
He glanced around the room, then looked back at Nathan.
"Now that things are cleared up, I’d like to take my leave."
Nathan blinked, startled. "Wait... you don’t want anything in return? Not even a reward?"
Adam Waters frowned slightly, almost confused by the question. "I didn’t help Luna because I wanted something. She was in danger. That’s all that mattered."
He paused, then added,
"And truth be told... Luna saved me first. That day, before everything, she showed me kindness. I just returned the favor."
The crowd, already stunned by his humility, broke into whispers again.
A middle-aged woman in a blue shawl said to the man next to her,
"He’s not just brave—he’s decent. That’s rare these days."
A teenage boy leaned toward his friend. "See? That’s how real heroes talk. No flexing, just facts."
Nathan stared at Adam Waters for a long second, clearly impressed.
"You’re an unusual man," Nathan said slowly. "Most people wouldn’t walk away without cash, status, or at least a news interview."
Adam gave a small shrug. "I’ve had enough noise in my life. I’m just glad she’s safe."
Luna, still quiet, looked up at him with unreadable emotion in her eyes.
Aurora watched it all with sharp, observant calm. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
"Let him go if he wants," Aurora finally said, her voice smooth. "He’s earned that choice."
Nathan gave a reluctant nod. "If that’s what you want... we won’t stop you."
Adam nodded, gave Luna a brief, respectful smile, then turned to walk away.
Nathan then turned toward Aurora and said with a smile,
"Thank you so much, Miss Dawn. If it weren’t for you, we might have led a wolf in our house."
Aurora, aka Miss Dawn, smiled and said,
"Its not a big deal. But what I am curious about is...what are you going to give Adam Waters? From what I know, you are the type of person who would reciprocate tenfold."
