Chapter 74 - 144 (5)
Feeling something wrong, I stepped back and shouted:
"Vertere reinforce the dome—!"
Just as Vertere raised his wand, the dome had been breached and an arc of blood was a meter away from my face.
"Scales, block the attack!" I extended my hand with a thrust out of muscle memory.
Damn it, what am I thinking! I don’t have the dragon scales armor with me right now!
But suddenly a small wall of scales appeared in front of me.
"Lieur!" Alleus screamed in horror.
Turning my head to the side, Lieur had protected Alleus, Vertere, and Ulna with her body.
Running down to Lieur, I bent down to my knees and commanded for the dragon scales to wrap around her but my face grew pale as I realised...
Her body had been completely severed, I was too focused on her to notice that her bottom half was several inches away.
"Vertere, heal her right now!" I shouted, grabbing Lieur’s bottom half and tried pushing her back together.
Turning my head to Vertere, I shouted once more but this time in outrage:
"I said heal her right now!"
"I can’t damn it! She’s still unleashing the barrage of attacks, if I let this water barrier down then all of us will die!" Vertere’s veins pulsed as the sounds of something hitting harshly against the water barrier echoed.
"Captain..." Lieur said faintly.
"Don’t talk, focus on staying strong." I gripped her hand.
"Captain..." She said once more.
"I said don’t talk you fool! Focus on staying away—!"
"This is the end for me..." Lieur reached out her other hand and brushed it against my face.
"No no no, don’t say that!" I bent down even lower, "...Please, I need you with us."
"I’m sorry captain but this is the furthest I can go." Leiur’s other hand fell but I caught it.
Gripping both her hand’s I gritted my teeth.
"You can go even further! We can go even further—!" My mouth jittered as I struggled to comprehend these mixed feelings that were dwelling inside me. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"At least I was useful to you... captain." Lieur’s head then dropped to the side, as her hand gradually turned cold.
I suddenly felt something warm fell down my face and that something tasted salty as a portion of it fell into my mouth.
"H-Huh, what is this?" I touched the substance and looked at it.
Is this what it means to cry?
I despise this feeling.
Gritting my teeth, there was nothing in my mind except for the hate that I have for the author.
I will fucking kill the maniac who killed Lieur.
Picking up Lieur, I commanded the remaining dragon scales armor that I had to hold Lieur together.
Alleus was caressing her gently, her face filled with tears.
Vertere was gritting his teeth but his eyes was moist.
Ulna on the other hand was looking away.
The onslaught of blood arcs then stopped, as Incus had pierced through Deinae’s chest.
"Blurgh." Blood then fell down her mouth, "You have not won—"
"Excaliburn." An explosion of flame then eviscerated Deinae as chunks of her body flew in all directions before splattering into the lagoon.
It’s finally over.
"Evecles, I command you to kill—!" Deinae’s voice echoed, as her chunks began crawling back to each other.
"I will not die here!" A portion of Deinae’s head had repaired itself.
Incus walked and looked down on Deinae and began stomping, forming a splash with every stomp.
"Just hurry up and die already."
As she stomped on the ground, a figure had appeared behind her made of blood with the blood rendering sword in hand.
Swiftly twisting her body, Incus slashed at the blood made figure.
But The bloody figure had already swung the blood rendering sword.
"Vertere! Barrier!" I shouted.
"Shit I don’t have enough mana!" Vertere trembled.
Damn it, there would be no time to drink and cast a barrier... even if he pulled out a mana potion from his pouch, would it really be enough?
Gritting my teeth, I swung the fire hero’s sword with all my might.
"Excali—!"
"Wind of terror, scream your gale!" Ulna conjured a vortex of wind, gather the water made of mana to prevent the crimson sky splitting slash from getting to us.
"Blurgh..." Ulna fell to her knees as her veins pulsed the color blue, "Not yet...!"
"Open your mouth!" Vertere pulled out his vials of mana as well as the big potion of mana and forced it down Ulna’s throat.
But her veins continued to pulse even more, and the bloody figure kept slashing.
"Shit!" Rummaging through Ulna’s cloak, he forced down her mana vials and big mana potion down her throat, "Keep drinking!"
Coughing profusely, Ulna’s veins then burst.
Fuck!
I can’t lose another person now, not especially after we’ve all been through... not again.
Damn it.
"Alleus, hold her." I gently gave Lieur over to Alleus.
"O-Okay."
Grabbing a vial floating on the water, I filled it with water and forced Ulna to drink.
"Just drink." I grimaced, continued to feed her water with a high purity of mana.
Suddenly, she began puking and collapsed down to her knees.
She had held on until Incus had burned all of the blood from Deinae.
Shaking Ulna, Vertere shouted:
"Wake up! Come on, this isn’t the time to fall asleep!"
Drinking the puked on water, he conjured the healing barrier over Ulna.
"Please please please, don’t let it be too late."
The healing barrier then cracked before shattering completely.
"I can heal her, I just have to drink more!" Vertere scooped a handful of puked on water.
Gritting my teeth, I kicked him down with a splash.
"It’s already too late Vertere. There isn’t anything we can do for her... she’s already dead." I said, gritting my teeth.
Standing up, Vertere punched me on the face.
"Shut up you rotten bastard! You don’t know that!" Vertere continued throwing punches.
"Just look at her Vertere... she’s dead." I sighed, catching his fist.
