Chapter 65: 142 (4)

Jumping out of a window, Vertere conjured a pillar to launch himself through the window that I shouted out from.

"Water dome!" Quickly, a sphere barrier of water formed all of the people that lived in the building.

"It’s shape is a bit odd because the room isn’t high but it will do for now, make sure that you don’t hit the water dome or else you will be left vulnerable!" Vertere shouted impatiently.

Hopping out of the window, I grabbed a ledge to break my fall.

Suddenly, Alleus dashed towards us with the vanishing step skill.

"Get down!" Grabbing us by the hair, Alleus forced us to the ground.

Suddenly, something invisible slashed through the apartment that I had just evacuated.

Toppling down, the building was starting to crash.

"Shit, we have to stop the fall!" I Grabbed Vertere, "Do something—!"

Suddenly, Alleus threw us away and moved out of the falling building.

"We have no time!" Gritted Alleus, "The water dome should have protected them, so they’re fine—!"

As the evacuated of the people who I saved began climbing through the rubble, another invisible attack had swished through the wind, killing them.

"Dammit!" I Slammed my fist, "Why did you stop me, I could have saved them!"

"Calm down, it’s too late now! We have to focus now on those who are alive, we can’t let their deaths stop us from stopping more unnecessary ones!" Vertere picked me up.

Grimacing, I began taking deep breaths.

After calming down, Ulna then shouted for Vertere, and so did Lieur.

"Alleus, take Vertere to them quickly... I’ll watch things here for now." I stared at the splattered blood across the fallen building.

Nodding, the two of them quickly disappeared off into the distance.

Watching the battle between Incus and Tigbone, my resentment for the author began to swell within me.

Incus then jumped back and summoned the fire hero sword, and shouted:

"Excaliburn!"

Covering my face, the explosion of flame was ginormous, I could never hope to dream of such strength.

Tigbone then dodged the attack and retaliated with an upwards slash.

Suddenly, Incus began dashing around the area, forming streaks of lightning around the place.

There was nothing but blue lightning as far as the eye can see... it was the only thing you could see, except for the demon Tigbone in the middle of it all.

Incus then began slashing Tigbone, it’s body accumulating a canvas of wounds.

Suddenly the demon slashed down, clashing blades with Incus.

The veil of lightning slowly vanished.

My eyes widened as I saw Incus was being pushed down to her knees.

That’s impossible, even if they’re around the same in terms of strength, she shouldn’t be falling down to her knees!

At the same time, everyone had finished with their task of gathering and putting a water barrier.

"Captain. What’s the situation, has it gotten better?" Lieur asked, as the rest of them jogged back to me.

"The situation right now is unclear, Incus has activated a skill called ’limit surge’ so the battle might end soon and it might not." I formed a fist before continuing, "But for now, all we can do is hope that does... and soon"

Pushing back demon Tigbone, Incus gently smiled.

"You’re right, we should end this soon. It’s bad to delay a demon’s death, especially if it’s a demon that’s as strong as you."

Incus then dashed forward, striking for every spot of weakness with the skill [Perception].

However the large skill gap between a master swordsman and an advanced one is much greater than that between an adept and advanced.

It was simply too vast.

Unlike last time, Incus had the help of Steinen and Dragonborn didn’t have the skill [Limit surge] but Tigbone does.

But that wasn’t the only thing she was cautious of, Incus was also wary of his unique skill [Movement copy].

’He mentioned that my movement’s weren’t worth copying, meaning that he can copy my techniques... thankfully, I limited my swordsmanship to the basic nine sword strikes.’ Incus then swung vertically upwards before slashing downwards.

Dodging the attacks, Tigbone’s face turned neutral. His interest was beginning to peak.

Stomping forward, Incus slashed horizontally before spinning and slashing horizontally again.

But her attacks missed again, but there was a trickle of demon’s blood sliding down the [Lightning hero’s sword] which was quickly dissipated by the lightning.

Deflecting a wide slash from Tigbone, Incus counted with four diagonal slashed.

Just a second before, Incus had commanded for the [Dragon scales armor] to stop Tigbone from moving, but come off once her swords were just a millimeter away from slashing through flesh.

"Ack!" Tigbone’s chest was cut in the shape of and X not just once but twice.

"You dare use such cheap tactics against me!" Tigbone grabbed the dragon scales and pealed them off of him before lunging forward and throwing a barrage of attacks.

It may have looked like random sword strikes, but it was actually masterful. The more blades a person wields, the more unrealistic and wild the swings look.

Blocking an overhead slash, Incus was forced into the ground.

Seeing that she was locked down, Tigbone quickly slashed with his other arms, the swords cutting like a scissor.

"Protect me, scales of dragon!" The scales then intercepted the attack, but it wasn’t enough to fully stop them.

With immense force, Incus was slammed on both sides of her ribcage.

"Urgh!" Incus winced in pain.

"Excaliburn!" Because Incus didn’t swing the [Fire hero’s sword], a massive explosion occurred instead.

Getting pushed back, Tigbone walked through the flame.

Incus did the same.

"This battle has drawn far enough." Tigbone then winded back his blades, torquing his body until the sound of his muscle stretching became evident.

"Now what are you doing this time—!" Interrupting Incus, she tried to jump away in the air but an invisible sword strike sent her flying away.

The attack slashed through her [Hero’s Armor], the [Dragon scales armor did protect her but the sheer force of the attack was too much and her ribcage had been cracked.

"Blurgh!" Picking herself up from a building she crashed into, she slowly began walking towards Tigbone.

Putting away the [Fire hero’s sword], Incus summoned the [Dark hero’s sword].
