Chapter 171: Mysterious Helper
"Help here!"
"We need to move them there."
"The situation is not looking good."
"Many students are heavily injured or poisoned!"
The teachers were having a hard time keeping everything in line. Some of them were already on the battlefield, trying to handle the beasts.
However, it was still hard, considering the students who were supposed to take down half of the enemies ended up getting beaten so hard. If only the poison didn’t exist, the situation would have been much better.
When Auric and his team reached the camp, they didn’t expect that the situation would be this bad.
"What’s going on here?" Auric gasped, looking around. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"I’m afraid that we have been defeated." Ellia shook her head helplessly.
"I see my mother there." Milinda pointed to the left. "Let’s go there and ask her about the current situation."
The group agreed and immediately walked to Professor Vienna.
"Mama!"
Professor Vienna was startled and raised her head. "You are back?"
"Yes! I’m fine." Milinda nodded with a serious expression. "But the situation here doesn’t look that good."
"70% of our forces have been routed. We don’t know about the casualties yet, but it seems to be around ten." Professor Vienna frowned.
"Still, 70%?" Ellia frowned.
"Yes. About 45% of them are poisoned. The poison has made the situation worse."
"What is the situation? Are the seniors poisoned?" Auric asked.
"That’s the thing. I’ve noticed that only those with a juvenile-form avatar or lower get poisoned." Professor Vienna shook her head helplessly. "The senior students are doing their best to form another line."
Auric crossed his arms, thinking, ’As expected, they’re unable to produce a high-rank poison for the time being. Even if they use the ruins, it shouldn’t be enough to create a much more powerful poison.’
Auric continued with another question. "Can the senior students cure themselves of the poison?"
"According to some of them, their energy can overpower the poison and expel it. They’re less reactive."
Auric nodded in understanding. His theory was correct. If the enemy wanted more potent poison, they would need higher-level ruins.
It would be hard to get such ruins, not to mention the danger they possessed. At the same time, the fact that there was no such poison yet meant they either didn’t have the resources to do it or they intended only to use this level of poison.
By poisoning the freshmen and sophomores, they could create a gap and cut off the chance for students to increase their strength.
This was something Auric couldn’t allow.
Professor Vienna asked, "Can you fix them?"
Auric could use his chaos element, but he had just exhausted his unique element energy earlier. Even if he tried to recover, it would still take a toll on him if he tried to help them all.
The best he could do was to use other elements to help with the treatment.
"I can, but..."
Professor Vienna misunderstood the second part. She thought Auric was worried that his information would be revealed. But Auric just wanted to tell her that it would take time for him to recover.
Nevertheless, Professor Vienna said, "Don’t worry. Thanks to the principal, I’ve made arrangements. The tent will be completely isolated for your use. We will bring the people in and out and use anesthesia to make them unconscious. You will heal them and act like a mysterious person that the principal has brought from the outside."
"That’s..." Auric rubbed his cheek. It was unnecessary, but it might not be a bad arrangement.
"I understand. Let’s do it that way. How about I start in two or three hours from now?" Auric asked. He could use this time to create a mysterious persona. People would think that a few hours was indeed the time it took for the expert to fly to this city.
At the same time, this amount of time was required for Auric to recover as much energy as possible.
Professor Vienna said, "Let’s do it in three hours. In the meantime, you should get some rest."
"No. We are—mmff!" Auric’s mouth was suddenly covered by Ellia’s hand. Ellia said, "Yes. He will get some rest. However, the rest of the team will continue to fight the beasts."
Ellia was considering Auric’s energy. He had just exhausted his energy, so he shouldn’t push himself.
"By the way, where is the principal right now?" Milinda asked.
"The principal is heading to the front line to kill as many beasts as possible. The situation has become so unpredictable, so he doesn’t want more students to die. He’s probably somewhere on the battlefield, rescuing students or killing beasts."
Ellia nodded. "In that case, we should go as well. We’ll leave him in your care."
Ellia immediately pushed him toward Professor Vienna before leaving.
"That’s..." Auric scratched the back of his head. It looked like he was stuck in his role.
...
On the wall, the battle continued, but not in the same direction as people expected.
The people couldn’t help but widen their eyes when there was a powerful fireball that managed to neutralize the wind sphere. If it were not for this fireball, the commander would have died.
Fortunately, he managed to survive. He was knocked unconscious and his right arm was gone, but he would wake up after some treatment.
Mr. Popo and the Lightning Emperor raised their heads, following the gaze of the overlord beast.
"I hope I’m not too late for the party." A man’s silhouette appeared in the air. "It’s really the correct decision to jump off the ship early."
They didn’t know who this man was, but they knew he should be the reinforcement that the commander was talking about.
Looking at the overlord beast, Arnie said, "You should go back where you belong."
Roar! The beast showed its answer by controlling its energy, ready to strike down Arnie.
"You should have listened..." Arnie sighed. A black golem appeared behind Arnie, but this black golem was not made of metal like Maya’s opponent. It was made of rock.
The beast unleashed its attack, trying to take Arnie down.
Bam!
The wind sphere hit him head-on, but everyone could see that Arnie was completely uninjured. The golem moved to his front at the last moment.
A part of its body crumbled, revealing its true form. Arnie’s golem wasn’t made of black rock. It was made of molten rock.
Arnie put two fingers on his forehead. "It’s been a while, but I guess I should do what I’m supposed to do. Avatar Fusion, Model, Magma Golem."
The avatar flowed into his body as Arnie’s body burst into flames.
"Magma Bloom." Arnie snapped his fingers, a massive amount of energy condensed into glowing magma in the sky and splashed in all directions.
The beasts that were hit by the magma burst into flames. The part that was hit directly melted.
With just a casual attack, Arnie actually annihilated over a hundred beasts.
The overlord beast was trying to stop him, but he had just used a casual attack earlier. He had more than enough power to stop the overlord beast’s attack.
Arnie was trying to make a point that there was no point in attacking this city. As long as he was here, the overlord beast couldn’t take it down. More and more beasts would just die here.
The overlord beast didn’t plan to retreat just like that. It pounced toward Arnie and slashed him with its claws.
Unfortunately for the beasts, the claws went through Arnie’s body and the slashed part recovered as if nothing had happened. On the other hand, the overlord beast found its claws melting because of the magma.
Roar!
The overlord beast was trying to show dominance, but its voice had become unsure. It was uncertain whether it could handle Arnie or not.
...
Near the ruins, Maya was fighting two people at the same time. Both of them were at the same level as her, making it even trickier.
When the man came with his sword from the front, Maya had to use her claw to block that attack.
The woman who came later approached Maya from behind and attacked her.
The dark energy clashed with her fire energy, but the fire ended up burning it because Maya had to concentrate most of her power on blocking the sword.
"Kh." Maya gritted her teeth as the dagger slashed her back.
However, she struck back the sword and pushed it back before turning around and hitting the woman. The woman tried to block it with her dagger, but the dark energy erupted and turned into multiple claws and struck her arms and torso.
"Kh..." The woman gritted her teeth, enduring the pain. ’What is going on with this woman?’
She couldn’t comprehend. Both of them engaged Maya in close combat because it was their specialty.
After the first strike to her shoulder, Maya shouldn’t be able to move very well. Yet, she actually managed to take them both at the same time.
When the man came after her, Maya would strike back and injure him. The woman would come from the opposite direction to injure Maya.
After that, Maya turned back and hit her from behind, which allowed the man to strike her from behind.
Maya just left enough energy to somehow stop an attack so that it didn’t kill her. The rest of the energy was used on her attack.
That was why the woman was confused. Both of them were women. If she was that injured, the woman believed that she would be taken down in just three minutes.
Injuring the other party was the least of her worries.
Yet, Maya’s eyes simply turned bloodshot and started engaging them in a fight as though she believed she would win.
Her body was covered in wounds, and her outfit was already dyed red. Yet, the intensity of her attacks hadn’t decreased.
Meanwhile, the two people from the mysterious organization ended up covered in injuries.
People might actually laugh at them if they knew what happened in this battle.
’How can this be? There are no traces of wounds on her, so she shouldn’t be the type of person who would fight to the death...’ The woman simply couldn’t comprehend Maya.
Her body looked smooth. Normally, people who used to receive injuries would have a few scars on their body, but she could see none of it on Maya’s body.
Of course, it didn’t mean Maya wasn’t a fighter. She had fought even crazier back when she was an adjudicator. The reason she was known as the black witch was when she went on a mission and got trapped by the enemies.
When she was rescued, the rescuers found Maya standing among a group of corpses. Her body was covered in blood and injuries, but the black energy was trying to make all the blood go away. Though the wounds were healed by high-level healers. She took care of her body with the power of money after all.
Nevertheless, if it was a fight that they wanted, Maya would give it to them.
Still, after being away from active duty, it looked like she had gotten a bit rusty.
"Haaa." Maya suddenly spun her body, causing the dark energy to spin like an expanding blade, knocking the two opponents back.
She never thought that this much was all it took for her to become short of breath.
Noticing Maya’s condition, the man shouted, "She’s going down. Don’t let her catch her breath!"
Maya gritted her teeth, looking for another opportunity.
However, there was no response from the woman.
Instead, another voice echoed. "Ganging up on someone... Shouldn’t you feel ashamed?"
"Who?! That’s..." The man widened his eyes. He didn’t even realize where this mysterious person came from, but the next thing he realized, his partner was already lifted up by a single hand, not moving anymore.
She was thrown to the ground like garbage.
"You..." Maya widened her eyes, recognizing the person. However, not even in her wildest dreams would such a person come to this place.
Seeing how his partner was defeated in an instant, he realized that this mysterious person was much stronger than any of them. He was trying to escape, but a few light beams pierced through his knees, his torso, and his head, killing him instantly.
It wasn’t even an equal match.
The mysterious person then walked to Maya. "It looks like the city has become noisy. I don’t like where this is going..."
The mysterious person tapped Maya’s shoulder. A golden light suddenly enveloped her body.
"!!!" Maya raised both arms, looking at the injuries on her hands that disappeared at a speed visible to the naked eye. When she raised her head again, the mysterious person had already gone.
"..."
