Yarra's Adventure Notes-Chapter 1476 - 262 You Know What to Do
Chapter 1476: Chapter 262 You Know What to Do
"Uh, you’ve misunderstood a bit," Pannis, startled by Nellie’s suddenly raised voice, scratched his head and said, "I certainly didn’t mean that I was tempted by the idea of agreeing to let him possess my body and then spare you—that’s just too stupid and doesn’t fit my image."
"Your image is that of an idiot. It would be fitting for you to be a bit more foolish," Nellie wrinkled her nose and humphed softly, clearly expressing severe dissatisfaction with Pannis’s self-assessment, "Can you blame me for misunderstanding? Why don’t you clarify what exactly it is that tempted you?"
"Well... how should I put this, when you mimicked Danacus and proposed that deal, I suddenly had a thought," Pannis said with a wry smile, "I was thinking, just if, and I mean if, Danacus really did revive and took over your body, would he agree to the trade if I proposed it?"
"And you say you’re not an idiot," Nellie frowned and spoke, "Didn’t you just say that deities choosing new bodies isn’t as casual as picking vegetables at the market? How could you forget that already? Even if you made that offer, and he really wanted to agree, it wouldn’t be possible."
"Yes, that’s true, he can’t do it," Pannis sighed, speaking softly, "But the fact that he can’t doesn’t mean you can’t." ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
"What are you talking about?" Nellie said sternly, "Are you asking me to help him possess your body?"
"Don’t joke, if he can’t do it, how could you possibly help him," Pannis shook his head, "I mean, although he can’t leave your body to take over mine, if he really did take complete control of you, he could extract your soul from your body and put it into another one."
"Don’t even think about it," Nellie’s complexion finally changed, she clenched her fists and spoke seriously, "This is my body, and I won’t let him have it. Moreover, you’re not unaware of what him truly controlling me would mean. If we really made that deal, the consequences would be more than either of us could bear. No, it’s not a question of whether we can bear it or not, it simply must not be done even if we could bear it; it would be a disaster for our world. I would rather die than trade my chance of survival for such a terrible catastrophe. Have you gone mad to have such a horrifying thought? If we did this, our beliefs, our perseverance, they would become the biggest joke."
"I know, I know," Pannis dropped his shoulders in dejection, covered his face with his hands, and groaned softly, "You should know why I would have such a thought."
Nellie’s breath hitched, her stern expression slowly faded, becoming gentler bit by bit. She softly stroked Pannis’s back and comforted in a soft voice, "I know, you’re considering all of this for me. For my sake, you’re even having such terrifying thoughts, but I too have my own principles, and I cannot tolerate living on in such a way."
"I understand, but at that moment, I was really a little tempted; I really started to think about what we could offer as a price to make him agree to the deal," Pannis lowered his hands from his face and spoke with a rough voice, "That’s why people say you should never test human nature. Human nature shouldn’t be tested; indeed, there is much truth to that saying."
"But in the end, you did resist the temptation," Nellie gently patted Pannis’s hand and said with a smile, "That’s why you acted immediately to prevent me from going on."
"It wasn’t me who resisted the temptation; it was you," Pannis sighed and said, "Because I thought, if I really did that, the person who would hate me the most, the first to oppose me, would be you. I don’t want you to hate me, and I sure don’t want to disappoint you again."
"You’re still the same," Nellie leaned on Pannis’ shoulder, lightly biting her lower lip, and said with a face full of happiness, "For my sake, you’d have such thoughts and then for me, you’d overturn your own ideas. You always place me above yourself."
"Because I like it that way," Pannis held onto Nellie’s extended hand and gently squeezed it, "Actually, aren’t you the same?"
"No, I’m actually very selfish," Nellie shook her head and said, "Like this time, I tricked you into coming here, wanting you to kill me, without considering your feelings at all. Thinking about it, it really was too much."
"That’s because you trust me," Pannis pressed Nellie’s rough hand to his face and said with his eyes closed, "Even though the request you posed to me was so cruel, at the moment I guessed that it was you who wanted me here, I was actually quite happy. Because I knew that you hadn’t blamed me for my previous mistakes and still saw me as the most trusted person in your life."
"I of course trust you," the two of them clung tightly to each other, and their lips met once again, but this time the kiss was not as intense as before, just a tender kiss that separated after a moment. Nellie licked her red lips and smiled, saying, "I have always trusted you from the beginning to the end, because I love you, Kyle."
"That’s exactly what I wanted to say," Pannis replied with a gentle voice, "Seeing you as more important than myself, isn’t that normal? You love me, I love you, we each see the other as the most important part of our lives. What’s wrong with that?"
"Of course not," Nellie smiled sweetly and nodded, "Indeed, it is a matter of course, nothing worthy of surprise."
"So, for your life, I can have thoughts that go against my own beliefs, and I can also let those thoughts fade away," Pannis affirmed, "Because I’ve missed out once already. This time, I don’t want to disappoint you again."
"Really?" Nellie turned her head, staring at Pannis’ face with her large eyes, unblinking, and asked with a curious expression, "Do you really not want to disappoint me again?"
Pannis didn’t answer, he just slowly closed his eyes, his clenched fists trembling slightly, revealing the turmoil within his heart. The clever Pannis of course knew the purpose of Nellie’s question, and could guess some of the reasons why she did this, but obviously, this did not alleviate the pain and struggle in his heart. Sometimes he even wished he knew nothing at all; that way he could really enjoy this reunion with his love as happily as he appeared on the surface.
When he opened his eyes again, the first thing he saw was a green arrow. Nellie held the Hunting Arrow in the palm of her hand and said softly, "You know what I hope you’ll do, and you know how to do it."
"But at least let me understand everything first," Pannis stared blankly at the Hunting Arrow and spoke bitterly, "That’s not too much to ask, is it?"
