Chapter 381: When to use the Wu name.

The rest of her trip went successfully and she left the farms and passed by the city council to receive an update from minister Maurey about the progress of the cities under construction. She shared her idea for the the golf course and asked him to expand the size of The Citadel.

Having been away for two days, the amount of work she had to cover had accumulated. As soon as she arrived at the castle, Precious started reading the meetings she needed to attend, the places she needed to visit and the dignitaries she needed to host. For an hour and a half, she and Fey went through documents Precious presented and she signed a few and set aside others for later.

Just when she thought she was finished, Precious said rapidly, "The Xenoans have also officially connected to the Blue star network. One of their ships is docked in London as we speak, they launched a satellite in our sky communication station last night. Minister Beord wants you to come up with a taxation plan for their foreign satellite because and I quote his words directly, "Allowing the Xenoans to launch a satellite in our house is like allowing your neighbor into your house to screw your wife for free. Not only is it an insult to the owner of the house but it’s also foolish. The satellite needs to be caged and their codes need to be shared so that they do not turn around to spy on us. They should also allow us to install a self destruct mechanism in the satellite so that we can blow it up if our empires fail to cooperate and become enemy nations. Additionally, we should also be granted permission to launch our own satellite in their empire. This is because ministers from the capital are already allying to bring down the foreign satellite because star net is a shared communication network of all planets that are under the Sun star and giving the Xenoans access to it is a taboo until they make an official request with the emperor." Precious put down her tablet and smiled at Chi Lian respectfully.

She scoffed and told the woman, "You do know that I could have this conversation with my brother from right here in the castle, right?" Why would she read his brother’s words to her directly and why had they been recorded?

Precious said seriously, "I do governor but your brother insisted on these words being officially transcribed and recorded so that the ministers in the capital can see from the record that we are not allowing the Xenoans to walk all over us and that as the minister for the Blue Star planets communication, he takes his duties very seriously despite having gotten the job because of his relationship with you."

Precious Carlzon’s words reminded Scarlet of the warning her mother issued once, reminding them aggressively to be professional in their engagements. They could not count on familial ties when doing their relationships, especially those who were working as ministers. She could see how seriously Beord was taking that warning.

"Thank you Precious, I will discuss the taxation issue with the city council and then forward it to the emperor. Draft up an official request to the Xenoans with the demands that my brother has put forward. Also draft an email to the emperor informing him that the Xenoans do not have access to star net, they will only be able to communicate with us on the Blue star through an application that is directly linked to their satellite. However, no communication with the ordinary citizens will be allowed until they come to an agreement with him that hopefully puts all our empires on friendly terms. Be sure to include your loyal governor, Scarlet Su. No, use Wu, Scarlet Wu and put my official seal on all the documents after I approve of them."

"Yes governor." Precious nodded and walked away.

Alone with Fey, they walked to her wing slowly, discussing some of the things that she still had to take care of. Then, her sister randomly asked, "Why are you now using Wu? Do you plan to change your name?"

"Not for now." Scarlet responded immediately.

It was not uncommon for women to change their surnames and take on the family name of their husbands. For women who married powerful nobles, not only was it a must but they also rushed to do it in order to attach the prestige of that name to themselves. She on the other hand was still using her family name rather than Wu. One of the reasons for this was that Emory had forbidden the old Scarlet from using the Wu name and threatened to take Justin away if she did. At the time, Justin was the only thing Scarlet could use to communicate or look for Esong so she obeyed Emory’s warning. Her second reason for not taking on the Wu name was because back then, the royal family too wanted nothing to do with her and she was afraid they would get rid of her if she did.

This was not the case anymore, but she would only take on the Wu name after Esong accepted her fully or when their marriage was real and more than the fulfillment of a contract. But in certain scenarios where using the name was beneficial for her, she would not hesitate to do so. Using it in this situation would evoke the emperor into recalling that they were one big happy family and no matter how much the ministers screamed, they should continue working toward one goal.

"Why use it then?" Fey nudged on curiously.

"It’s my husband’s family name, isn’t it?" she reiterated.

"Hmm." Fey answered, looking at Scarlet with deeply suspicious eyes.

Scarlet giggled and told her, "I am going to prepare pumpkins so unless you plan to be my assistant chef today, I would suggest that you go and rest."

Fey was reluctant to leave because her exhaustion she assumed could not be compared to her sister’s who had been working for four hours straight since they landed. Why should she rest when her boss was still working? If anybody dared to say that Scarlet was the laziest of them all, she would be the first to step up and defend her sister. What she did was more tiring than what the rest of them did. She dealt with the affairs of the entire empire, their planet, their family, her child and husband, her horrible mother-in-law, the foreigners, the royal family, business, security and so much more. They were wrong, Scarlet worked harder than anybody else. freewёbnoνel.com

"Sister," Fey said in a small voice and she held Scarlet’s arm.

"Mmm, what?" Scarlet looked at her curiously.

"I love you." Fey said, declaring this suddenly.

"Ho!!" Scarlet said in surprise. "More than your rich business man?" she teased Fey, rubbing her hair gently like an older sister does for the younger one.

Who in the family did not know that Lloyd and Fey spoke on a daily basis?

"Sister!" Fey complained, pouted and stomped her foot.

"I am joking." Scarlet laughed and pulled Fey to the kitchen. "Come on miss assistant chef, we have work to do."
