Chapter 379: Pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins

"Yes," Esong replied to Ramslin’s question.

"No." she said at the same time.

They both looked at each other and Ramslin stuffed the toy cat into Justin’s hand. "When you press it, it goes I meow you."

Justin immediately pressed the cat toy and it said, "Meow, I meow you." in a small childish voice. He laughed and looked up at Scarlet, shaking the toy cat and he pressed it again.

"I will text you so that we can meet up later to discuss a few things. Bye friend and friend’s husband." Ramslin’s laughed menacingly because he knew that Esong could not stand him.

As he walked away with joy at irritating Esong, the I meow you continued over and over mixed in with Justin’s childish laughter.

"What a nuisance." Esong said with a dark grimace on his face as he watched Ramslin walk away with a spring in his step. As he looked at the back of the man that he convinced himself was his love rival, Esong wondered if there was a way to get an ordinary person to join the mecha warriors for a few weeks. It would not hurt to force the singer into a training session that would leave his body so weak and incapable of moving for a while. If that happened, the man would not come around his wife unnecessarily. "Wait, why is he texting you?" he asked Scarlet.

"Because he is my friend." she answered. It was certainly a better answer than my work colleague from the underworld.

If she had looked up, perhaps she would have seen the scowl on his face at her admission.

"Friend." he said testily.

"Mmm." she replied casually, "By the way, you are going to have to take Justin home personally because I need to head to London immediately. I got a message from Mr. Bell and he wants to see me because something could be ripe in the farms."

"Mmm." He answered. It was more like a deep growl which forced her to look up at him.

She noticed the scowl and asked herself, what is wrong with him?

"Give him some porridge before he runs off to play with his friends. And, let him take a bath, he didn’t bathe in the morning. Oh, and don’t let him leave the castle with any toys or live animals. If he does, none of those things return. He keeps giving them away as if he is Santa Claus." If she lost any more ducks, rabbits or chicken because of him, she would put him on a diet of broccoli and beans.

But Esong was looking forward, his eyes concentrating in the distance. His thoughts seemed to have traveled far and she did not know if he had heard a single thing she said. She pinched his arm and nudged him while calling his name. "Esong, Esong, are you hearing me?" She waved her hands up to catch his attention.

"I heard." He said.

Scarlet would ask him why he was sulking suddenly but she had a bigger task waiting. He would tell her about it when he was ready, but if she had to guess, it was related to Ramslin.

"Okay, bye." She stood on tiptoe and kissed him on the cheek.

She bent down and did the same for Justin, kissing him on the forehead.

"I will see you later baby. Behave for your dad, and don’t scare the cats in the castle." He had a habit of grabbing them by the tail which drove them mad with fury as she forbade them from scratching him.

"Yes mommy." He smiled adorably.

She could not trust the little rascal but she had to take him at his word.

Tion was already for her with other guards and immediately after exchanging greetings, they set off for London.

They used a new route, one which she had not taken before. Rather than drive, they tightened their seat belts and the cars moved on their own as if they were sitting on an escalator.

"What kind of road is this?" She asked Tion.

"It’s a gravity belt road, the wheels of the cars have to retract and the car must escalate on it’s own. We upgraded the cars in your absence. This is a quicker means of getting to the other city but it’s more expensive, the toll to use it is five hundred star coins per week."

"Woah." she said, taken aback.

That was a steep price at the moment especially for the those who were not comfortably wealthy. Anyway, the ordinary roads existed as well and they could always use those ones.

The gravity belt road cut the journey into half and Scarlet soon found herself in the farms. She was welcomed at the gates by minister Rodney and Bell. Both men wore proud smiles which filled the entirety of their faces indirectly sending the message, ’we have done something great.’

"We took your advise and got small open cars that transport workers and visitors in the farms." Minister Rodney told her.

"The golf carts." she said.

He nodded and waved his hand outward showing the replicas of golf carts but these were more robot like, larger and higher, looking more like mechas on eight wheels than the ordinary cars as she intended. For some reason they had the word golf cart painted on them directly. That was not what I meant when I explained golf carts to them, she thought. Come to think of it, golf is not a sport in this world. She had another idea for an expansion of the gaming city.

Still, she climbed aboard and experienced a tour of the farm, with Bell acting as the tour guide. He would not shut up, and he pointed out all the farms, waved at workers they came across, shouting their names. He knew everyone here it seemed and everyone knew him.

Does he realize that it’s not my first time here? she asked herself when he pointed out the orange farm and told her that they were still harvesting oranges to date.

"Here we are." he said after a thirty minute ride that felt more like a three hour ride.

"We started out in green houses during the winter as usual." he explained. "Oh, and we have increased the number of green houses to twice what we had."

Even before he informed her, she had already seen the new rows of green houses mixed in with glass houses.

"I could live here forever." Bell declared.

"Feel free to do so, build a little house of wood with the necessary amenities and you never have to leave." she told him.

She smiled beautifully thinking in her mind how much she would just love to keep all the experts here because they were doing a very big and very wonderful job. Half of the agricultural experts from the capital had moved here already.

"Tell me when you want to do it and I will fund the bill." she added.

Excited, Bell led the way into the gigantic glass green house. Instantly, Scarlet was drawn in by the unusual beauty of the place. It was filled with pumpkins, most of them large, round and orange. Some were green while others looked yellowish, but they were all around. They were on the ground, on the side, hanging from the ceiling attached to vines that were coiled around wood. It was a pumpkin explosion and she took a picture immediately.
