Despite of all the confidence that she exuded, her mother did not feel the same way. Something needed to be done, arrangements needed to be made, they could not just rely on Scarlet’s word to save her from the flames should someone set a fire. She definitely needed to have a talk with Esong about how he would approach the situation if it arose. He was one of the family and now was the time to get on board and cover for his wife if need be.

Carolyn too was heavily uncomfortable with the situation and Scarlet’s easy going attitude did not give her much confidence. To her, what he sister had was not much of a plan. Financial records could be tampered with or faked, even fake witnesses could be bought with money. Just see the way Esong’s mother had done it all that time when she was diverting the child support he was sending for his son. Had her younger sister learned nothing in all the years she spent living away from their family in the seedier areas of the capital that were mostly crime ridden?

"I am still sticking to my story that you never saw my draft. Either that or I sent you to pick up a few documents for me and you dropped the draft. I know that you are confident about your plausible deniability due to the absence of evidence and lack of fore knowledge about what that bit.." She paused and amended her language because Halley was listening to the adults talk as she played with a doll in her seat. "Reya, what Reya planned to do with my draft but in the eyes of the law, you are an accomplice in a way. Mother, we need to secure her official old financial records quickly and also find our own witnesses who will testify to our version of the truth."

Fey joined in and suggested someone that she used to know who knew the right people for the job of becoming witnesses.

Dorian came over and Mega filled him in on the situation, so he sat down to brain storm as well.

"The witnesses are a good idea but you have to consider that for the sake of credibility their minds might be searched by high officials in the RGB. I think that idea should be abandoned completely. " He said.

"I can ask Markey to step in and help in that situation. If the Marley’s have fake witnesses then they will surely bribe their way into getting an official that supports their story. We should do the same before they get their way." Carolyn suggested.

"If you still have old friends from the school reach out to them and make sure that they are willing to testify to the fact that Reya was always jealous of you and would be willing to do anything to bring you down. This is the cause of the problem after all, jealousy; I am to be blamed since I gave birth to a very outstanding daughter. All my children got the best of my talents." Mega even in this situation, found a way to compliment herself.

Her husband smiled secretly while her children looked at her with disbelief.

Quiet in her seat, and contemplating, Scarlet watched her family plot possible solutions to counter any reaction that the Marley’s might have towards this situation. As she watched them, she couldn’t help but think that the old Scarlet was really lucky to have such a family. Even Carolyn who she wronged gravely by stabbing maliciously in the back was looking for a way to save her ass. They were willing to commit crimes like perjury all for her sake. What a wonderful family this was!

As she watched them, she smiled and thought to herself that she was lucky to have transmigrated into this body. The old deity knew what he was doing, she had blamed him falsely.

"Vindicated." She heard his voice in her mind.

A part of her had been expecting his response and she laughed softly. Over time, hearing his or Lythia’s voice had become a source of comfort for her. She was never alone, they went with her everywhere. She had a family that loved her and deities that protected her, was this how it felt to be loved all around?

"Why are you smiling?" Mega shook Scarlet and asked her.

" I am just happy because you are all going out of way to help me. Mother, I love you." She said in a deep emotional voice which came out more nasal than she intended, making her sound as if she was about to cry.

"Oh!" Fey gasped and pointed at her face.

Feeling lost, Scarlet touched her cheek and felt the wetness which was clear a trail of tears.

"Oh!" She gasped as well. She had not realized that she had become too emotional to the point of crying. This was embarrassing, even Elroy was laughing at her.

"Excuse me for a bit." She said.

Walking fast, she found the nearest bathroom and locked herself inside. Alone, she took a deep breath and allowed herself to calm down.

"What is wrong with me?" She asked herself.

Severus suddenly appeared next to her and he placed his paw on her chest, listening or searching for something. He was like a doctor listening for a heartbeat with a stethoscope.

"Is something abnormal about me?" She asked him. She was feeling as if her emotions were super heightened. It reminded her of the day she came into contact with the pure soul of a child. She could hardly control her emotions then than she was doing now.

"You have accepted them as your family completely and finally broken through the bottle neck that was stopping your soul cultivation from going further. Haven’t you noticed that no matter how much you have cultivated in the past few months nothing worked?" He responded.

She nodded because no matter how much purifying water, crystals, herbs or drops of Severus’s blood she used, she had failed to level up.

"Close your eyes, circulate your energy and cultivate for a while. Break through the bottle neck completely, it’s about time that you make it to the fourth level. We don’t have much time left before the small world competitions. " he told her.

Meanwhile, Mega had approached Esong who was sitting in the captain’s chair on the space ship. He was also engaged in a deep conversation with Markay that she had to fake a cough three times to get them both to turn around and recognize her presence.

"Mother." Markay said politely, ahead of Esong.

Mega was taken aback and so was Esong. He was confused as to why Markay who was not a son-in-law of the Su’s was coquettishly calling Mega his mother. Is this what the empress had told him during this visit to the capital?

His sly aunt sure knew how to find ways to ingratiate her son with the Su’s. She knew how important the family bond was to them and she had probably told Markay to use it as a way further in. He would not be outdone however because he was the actual son-in-law here.
