Chapter 76: "Have you met Ahmet?”
Chapter Seventy- Six
"I learned you went away to rejuvenate. I did not know you would be back so quickly. Who are you?" He asked Demir but before he could answer, he went on "Don’t tell me you came back because of him." Markus continued as he eyed the other man though his tone didn’t sound like he was angry.
Like hell, she cared if he was.
"Shut up." She told him but the man was like a toy with a key in his brain, controlling him to get on everyone’s nerves, and by everyone, she meant hers.
"I’m Demir." He introduced himself flatly.
It was as if he had never asked about the other man who he was at all. Markus simply ignored him, turning his attention to Asli instead like he didn’t care who he was.
"I’m coming back from my villa," he said, his tone light, almost casual. "Ahmet now knows that his shipment is stolen and is tracking down the missing one."
Her eyes flicked to him, sharp with suspicion. Why would he mention Ahmet all of a sudden?
A beat passed before she remembered that Markus didn’t know about them. Of course, he shouldn’t know about them.
However, if he was telling her about it, then it meant she was supposed to know the cargo was missing. Why was he reporting to her that it was missing? Did he also think she was the thief? Or could it be...
"You stole the cargo?" She rudely asked and his arms crossed over his chest like she had done.
Markus stayed silent and his eyes remained steady and judgemental. The longer he did not respond, the more the frustration built up inside her. She clenched her fists and her nails dug into her palms painfully.
Funny, she thought, how she had not felt this angry when Markus casually mentioned to Demir that he was her fiancé.
But now? Now, her blood was boiling, and the thought of him being the one who stole Ahmet’s shipment without him knowing drove her to the edge.
"It was you, wasn’t it? You stole it!" she spat, her voice thick with fury.
Markus shrugged, an almost bored expression crossing his face. "Yeah, and? What about it?" He tilted his head. He glanced at Demir, who stood silent with a flicker of confusion on his face.
She breathed out angrily. He stole the Cargo yet, Ahmet treated her like she were the thief?
’No he didn’t.’ the tiny voice was back. ’You have been stealing it so it would be alright for him to think you did even if it wasn’t you.’
"How does that mean anything? Your father had wanted you to do that but you were sick so he asked your husband to step in for you." Was it that Markus didn’t fear death or did he have his brain taken out during his birth?
"Stop calling yourself that!" She snapped and tried walking away but Markus followed. She needed to get away before she did anything she’d regret. If she killed him now, her father would question why she did that and most importantly, he would be furious because he wasn’t done using him.
Markus’s voice echoed after her, sharp and mocking. "You should be thanking me!"
Her feet froze mid-step, but only for a second before she spun around, fury lighting her face. "Thanking you? Did you just say I should be thanking you?" Her words shot out like daggers. "Screw you and your cousin!" She pointed directly at him, while her finger trembled with rage, and the venom in her voice was clear that both men could sense her explode.
She took another step, the anger not inside her, but then his voice cut through the tension. "Have you met my cousin?"
Her body went rigid and her feet planted to the ground as the words lingered in the air, waiting to be answered.
She didn’t turn around, but her hands balled into fists at her sides.
"Shit." She cursed under her breath, her mind spiraling as she resumed walking, trying to ignore the gnawing feeling in her chest.
She could sense their questions though none of them uttered any. ’Why had she reacted like that? Why was she so pissed off that Markus took the shipment?’
It wasn’t like she could admit to them that Ahmet had accused her like she was the one behind it and even pointed a gun at her. If she told them that, what were the questions that would follow?
Her stomach twisted as the next set of questions hit her thoughts.
’How did you know Ahmet suspected you? How did she know that Ahmet was angry that she took it?’ She would have to even answer the question Markus had asked. Had she met his cousin?
It wasn’t like she could answer that without digging herself deeper. And if she stayed quiet, they would just start to wonder why it bothered her so much that Ahmet’s shipment was stolen.
She quickened her pace, hoping to outrun the truth— if only for a little longer. She heard their footsteps behind her. She knew she couldn’t run from this. frёewebnoѵēl.com
"Did he contact you concerning it?" Markus asked again.
Avoiding the question was just as dangerous as answering it. How did she even tell him ’screw you and your cousin?’ She should have ended it with him without involving Ahmet. Why did she seem to lose her composure around him or when Ahmet’s name was mentioned? These brothers were going to be the death of her.
She needed to say something. Anything that wouldn’t make any of them suspect her. She stopped walking, her back to them.
She could feel the weight of their gazes, even without looking at them. She forced herself to turn around, facing Markus head-on and avoiding Demir’s gaze. She wasn’t about to let them see any crack in her facade.
"My fight is between your cousin and mine alone." She spat, "I don’t need anyone doing anything for me, especially not when it concerns him. I started stealing his goods for a reason. Stay out of it!" She held her breath and watched Markus’s reaction. She hoped this was enough. But she knew it wasn’t. The man was a walking disaster.
"Well, I don’t know whatever the reason was you started doing that but you should have told your father it was your duty alone. He ordered me to." Markus told her.
She didn’t flinch, though his words hardly registered since she was busy thinking if he was suspecting her, and when it did, she let out a faint sigh of relief, happy that he wasn’t forcing her any further.
He didn’t seem suspicious of her answer and she inwardly sighed in relief.
Now, it was Demir’s turn to fold his arms together when she finally passed him a glance. It was written all over his face, that he wanted to know who Markus was exactly.
Asli sensing that, quickly spoke before he could say anything more. "He’s Ahmet’s cousin. Yes, the Ahmet." Her tone sounded tired yet almost too serious, as though dropping a name like that would explain everything.

Do you also think Markus lost his brain before he was born? What do you think her reaction would be after she finds out all this time Markus knew about her and Ahmet and was just having messing with her?
