Chapter Fifty- Six

"Grey told me," he said, his voice firm. "And don’t call them our friends. Those animals have no claim to that title." He paused, his gaze intense. "Yes, I invited you to the meeting, but I had no idea they had a plan."

As he finished speaking, he raised both hands in a calming gesture. His right hand still grasped the gun, while his left palm faced her, open and empty. The movement was meant to show her his withdrawal, but her expression remained skeptical, doubt etched on her face.

Did she think he’d truly pull the trigger when he pointed the gun back at her? His hand had instinctively gone for the weapon when he noticed she was reaching for hers. But did his intentions even matter when she pointed hers at him?

"Those are just words. You don’t have any proof that you are innocent!" Asli sneered, and her tone scathing. His eyes widened in incredulity, as if he couldn’t fathom that she’d actually think he’d deceive her.

They were both getting on each other’s nerves, and she was so close to firing her gun. He knew she was insane. He knew she would shoot him.

"I’ll shoot you back if you dare! If I wanted to do anything to you, I would have done it days ago when I made you wear the lingerie I chose. If I were that lowly a person, I would have done it when you collapsed. I could go on and on." He tried to tak a long breath before he continued.

"I don’t have to spike your drink to make you want me to touch you. And if you forgot, you did just that. You begged me! I don’t care if you’re offended because I choose not to sleep with my gender. If it is then go ahead and shoot me!" He yelled on top of his voice and he was surprised she hadn’t shot him yet. She had mentioned they only saw her as a woman.

He saw her as a woman because she was one. Would he have gone all the way to save his fellow man? No. So if it made her angry that he saved her because she was a woman, then she should go ahead and pull the trigger.

"I knew where you were heading because I had been there recently. I brought you here for your safety." He added.

"How am I not sure you did all those things so I could trust you and..."

"Yeah, sure." Now, he was really tired. "You know what? Come and see me if you find me guilty after your investigation. Until then, I hope you and I never meet again." He turned his back at her, heading towards the door and reaching for it.

Never meet again? "Like hell, you think I’m gonna allow that. You’ll see me whenever I want you to." Any other day, he could swear he would’ve been excited.

But not today. He was exhausted from this fight. He didn’t know whether it was the fact that she didn’t believe him or it was because she thought he’d do that her or to any girl.

"Make me!" He dared her. Not expecting her to do anything. He only just said it because it sounded right. However, out of nowhere, she rushed towards the door and shut it as he opened it to leave.

Oh, so help him God if she was going to continue with the attack, he wouldn’t know what to do with her.

He turned to completely face her since she did not back away after closing the door and as he did, their eyes locked and held for a few seconds, neither of them willing to look anywhere else.
