This Necromancer Just Wants to Plant Trees-Chapter 2003 - 580 Matthew’s Potential
...
Matthew once thought his somewhat arrogant words would be acknowledged by Isabelle.
However, she merely responded with coldness in her eyes:
"Heavenly Mage is not something that ordinary people can aspire to."
"I’ve spoken many times about your shortcomings."
"You are not extreme, not mad enough, too moderate, too kind, even somewhat cowardly!"
"You lack the decisiveness and courage to risk everything for reincarnation and the drive and selfishness to ignore the destruction of the World."
"Your Strength and growth mostly come from external sources...those things that do not belong to you."
At this point.
She gave Matthew a subtle look.
Matthew shuddered in his heart.
But he quickly returned to normal.
Since Isabelle could discern his identity as an extraterrestrial visitor, she could naturally perceive the existence of those two supreme authorities.
Perhaps this was the fundamental reason why she viewed him differently.
"So, do you think I cannot become a Heavenly Mage?"
He asked.
Isabelle was silent for a few minutes, her tone still cold and hard, but the content she uttered had changed slightly:
"I don’t know."
"In the World I recognize, you don’t have the slightest possibility."
"But I will soon be leaving, and no one knows what Aindor might become."
"Moreover, the fact that your current Strength comes from outside is worth viewing from two sides. On one hand, it shows that you highly depend on external Strength, while on the other hand, there actually exists good news—
which is that there is still a lot of potential within you waiting to be dug."
Those powers sleep deep within your soul, constantly waiting for your summon."
If one day you can uncover them, you may indeed experience genuine transformation."
In my view.
That is truly ’legendary’!"
Internal potential?
Strength deep within the soul?
Matthew vaguely perceived something but felt he couldn’t grasp it.
He couldn’t help but ask:
"Do you mean mental Strength? Or emotional Strength?"
Isabelle replied:
"Both."
"For different people, the answer varies and I can’t provide you with more precise guidance."
"But I can give you a reference answer—"
"Throughout these years, in your growth journey, the one time you were closest to unearthing your potential was when the Lost Paradise ascended."
"At that time, I felt your truest Self and the powerful potential inherent beneath that Self."
The Lost Paradise ascension?
Matthew thought of Jassiliven and Peggy, thought of the sky full of Divine Fire, thought of the resolute fight and the eventual release in surrender.
It was actually one of his few impulsive actions.
But in Isabelle’s view.
Was that the true Self?
Matthew repeatedly savored Isabelle’s words, which could be the last guidance left by his mentor before leaving the Multiverse.
He wouldn’t simply absorb Isabelle’s philosophy.
Yet, his teacher’s words were not short of incisive viewpoints.
Naturally worth pondering.
Amidst his thoughts.
Matthew suddenly asked the question he had long suppressed:
"So, when the Lost Paradise ascended, did you really intend to kill me?"
Isabelle slowly shook her head:
"I’ve explained this issue."
"Under my watch, no one is allowed to become a god!"
"As for eliminating you, who were also in the Lost Paradise, that was just a secondary act."
"Of course, I also wanted to see if that Singularity Cannon could trigger the anger within your heart, but afterward, I was both disappointed and relieved."
"Disappointed that you didn’t rebel, but chose to endure."
"Relieved in the fact that since you could endure such humiliation and threats, it indicated you had higher aspirations."
"Failing to evoke your potential was my problem; I should have given greater stimulation. Maybe that could have forced your Strength out..."
"However, I became too busy afterward, and when I had time, the situation no longer allowed me to drive you away."
"Because now the Alliance actually needs some young people to step up."
"Such a pity..."
Goodness!
Matthew listened with beads of cold sweat.
Truly, this mentor of his was quite the oddity!
In order to force out the potential she believed he had within him, she even thought of various ways to torment him!
"But what if he gets played to death by you?"
Coco curiously asked.
Isabelle indifferently said:
"Then go die!"
"You wouldn’t think I care much about him, would you?"
"Only if he continuously shows potential and survives various challenges does he qualify to continue being my student."
"If dissatisfied, he can choose to rebel or die by my hand."
"I personally don’t reject any conclusion."
Matthew’s scalp tingled.
However, Coco bluntly said:
"But if you really don’t care about him, why are you following him around like a nanny now..."
Snap!
A fair hand struck down from midair.
The Great Fairies turned back into a paper figure, and their mouth was also sealed!
"What Bale said indeed makes sense."
"Fairies certainly are incredibly annoying."
Isabelle hummed softly.
"Time is about up."
"Before becoming a Heavenly Mage, become legendary first, let me see how much of those two supreme authorities’ Strength you can exert."
After saying this.
Her figure quickly dissipated.
Leaving only the paper figure Coco helplessly stuck to Matthew’s thigh.
Rub-rub~
Matthew tried it out.
To use "Dimension Shift and Correction" in this area consumes too much mana.
