The Void's System-Chapter 110: The Dungeon Hunt
Chapter 110 - The Dungeon Hunt
The blazing banners of the academy exchange event fluttered in the morning wind, each emblazoned with the sigil of its respective school. The massive training field outside Lumina Academy had been transformed into a ceremonial ground. Students from across the continent stood in rows, uniforms gleaming, mana crackling faintly around the stronger ones.
Zane stood among the group representing his academy, shoulder to shoulder with Sera and Adrien. Valerie stood across the field with her own cohort, her gaze a cool storm whenever it brushed past him. But Zane ignored it, keeping his eyes ahead as the crowd quieted.
A tall, battle-scarred instructor with dark robes and piercing amber eyes walked up to the platform at the front.
"Welcome to the Inter-Academy Exchange," his voice boomed through a magically enhanced speaker orb. "I am Instructor Dareth, and I'll be overseeing the first trial. Pay attention—this is not a game."
He raised a hand, and behind him, a projection shimmered into view—an image of a stone dungeon entrance wreathed in thorny vines and pulsing with eerie violet light.
"The first trial is a Dungeon Hunt. Each team will be sent into a separate, procedurally-generated monster dungeon. Your goal is simple: survive, explore, and slay."
Whispers spread among the students.
Instructor Dareth continued. "A monster dungeon is a living ecosystem of magical beasts, traps, and shifting terrain. The deeper you go, the more dangerous the environment—and the greater the rewards. Monsters scale in difficulty. At the deepest floors, you may encounter dungeon bosses or anomalies. Do not engage them unless your team is prepared."
He turned, letting the image cycle through glimpses of twisted creatures, puzzles, and narrow corridors. "Your scores will be based on total confirmed kills and depth achieved. The academy with the highest score at the end of the trial will earn prestige, resources, and the right to lead the second event."
Zane glanced sideways at his group. Adrien looked excited, lightning dancing along his fingertips. Sera's expression was focused, her fingers drumming on the hilt of her dagger. Zane, however, felt a familiar cold hum in his chest—the system was stirring again.

Nyx's voice echoed playfully, "Time to sharpen your blade, little shadow. Let's show these students what a Void Chosen really looks like."
Zane exhaled slowly. The trial hadn't even started, and already the stakes were rising. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
And somewhere across the field, Valerie smiled to herself—knowing that soon, she and Zane would be in the same dungeon.
But not on the same side.
