The Scheming Ex-Husband's Courtship-Chapter 23 Why Didn’t You Take Good Care of the Child
Chapter 23: Chapter 23 Why Didn’t You Take Good Care of the Child
Every single word from Chen Jiehui was shockingly unexpected, as it was said that the second young master of the Mu Family was famously indifferent and unsociable, treating even his own father as if he owed him money. His curt response upon greeting him was proof enough of his aloofness, and Chen was secretly relieved that he wasn’t completely ignored and humiliated.
Moreover, there were always rumors circulating that he was GAY, with never a woman seen close to him.
But now, the interaction between him and that female college student looked simple yet not so simple, which made one can’t help but let the imagination run wild about what their relationship could be.
In fact, Gu Qili was just repeatedly saying the same sentence to him.
"I want to go back to school to review this weekend, is that okay?" she asked in a negotiating tone that was as low as the dust, since tomorrow was already the weekend.
"No," came Mu Shuoqian’s arrogantly lofty reply, leaving no room for discussion.
"Is it okay?" freewebnøvel.coɱ
"No."
"Please, just this time!"
"No."
In the end, Gu Qili finally shut her mouth, inevitably feeling a bit stifled. There was nothing in their contract about restricting freedom; why should he always force her to do things? Resigned that he had the controlling power in their agreement, she could only swallow her complaints and remain silent.
Gu Qili walked ahead with a frown, inadvertently crashing head-on into a cleaning cart ahead, causing the plastic bucket filled with water on the cart to shake violently and spill some of its contents.
The cleaning lady exclaimed, "Oh dear," and quickly looked at her, "Young girl, did you hurt yourself?"
Gu Qili’s knee had hit the cleaning cart’s metal handle, and the pain was so acute that tears were swirling in her eyes. After the pain subsided, she turned and glared fiercely at the man standing aside as if nothing had happened, clearly seeing yet not bothering to warn her.
"It’s okay, auntie," Gu Qili waved her hand, "Sorry for spilling your water."
"It’s fine, the young girls nowadays are all frail. You look like you’re just in junior high, sigh, your father really should take better care of you," she added with a sigh of blame towards Mu Shuoqian, as if he had not fulfilled his fatherly duties.
Gu Qili struggled to hold back her laughter, while Mu Shuoqian’s face was visibly turning green.
She was dressed as a student today, ponytail and A-line skirt, looking just like a junior high student. Mu Shuoqian, probably from stomach pain and his overnight business trip, looked particularly haggard. Although, to say they were father and daughter, the lady’s judgment was really questionable.
Soon, a person appeared to vindicate Mu Shuoqian; a nurse who had been eying him for a while, encouraged by a colleague, boldly approached him with a lovestruck gaze, thinking that he looked even more handsome than a celebrity.
"Handsome, can we take a selfie?" the nurse asked while holding her phone, her face blushing.
Gu Qili thought to herself, are girls nowadays this direct, asking for selfies with handsome guys, and phone numbers from the striking ones, disregarding that this man was accompanied by a woman? Whether or not she was his wife or girlfriend, at least consider their relationship - such straightforward actions were truly eye-blinding.
Mu Shuoqian displayed complete indifference, simply ignoring her request.
"Let me take the photo for you," Gu Qili offered, winking at the nurse, wondering if she really didn’t look like his wife, permitting such blatant disregard from others.
The nurse was overjoyed and about to hand her the phone when a distinctly large hand intercepted, grabbing the phone, turned sideways, extended an arm, and with a release of the fingers...
"Ah." The nurse covered her face, watching in horror as her phone fell into the cleaning lady’s bucket of clean water, sinking to the bottom quickly.
Several onlookers were stunned.
Gu Qili found herself being dragged away by a powerful arm.
