The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife-Chapter 491 - How long have you been there?
Chapter 491: Chapter 491 - How long have you been there?
"Tell me first," Sabrina said anxiously, but Robin was adamant. If he didn’t have her word, he was not going to tell her for fear that she would tell Aria about it.
"No. Promise me first."
"Fine, I promise." Sabrina gave up and spoke. Robin took a deep breath before he announced,
"Robert is the father of Giselle’s unborn child."
He was not amazed to see a blend of shock and excitement in Sabrina’s eyes. "What?"
Robin explained it with his usual calmness. "When I found out, I didn’t want Aria to know, so I couldn’t tell you."
A sudden realization hit Sabrina at the moment, and she said, "I knew it was strange for Pete to not be able to find out anything. I was even beginning to think that he was affected by old age."
"Hahaha," Robin laughed, and Sabrina suddenly got serious.
"So what is the plan?" She knew that Robin would not just take the decision to keep it from her at the time for notice.
Most certainly, he must have something cooking up. "I already gave Robert a timeline. Please trust me on this."
"So are you going to tell him that she’s pregnant?"
Sabrina hoped that this wonderful news would help Robert to decide sooner, but Robin had other plans.
"No. That’s his punishment for acting rashly, but he confessed being in love with her."
"That is the best news ever. I can’t believe that he’s in love with her, even without knowing that she saved his life. I can’t wait for them to get married. I feel so happy, my king." The excitement in Sabrina’s voice made Robin happy as she suddenly asked,
"So, are we still going on a vacation?"
Robin pursed his lips together. "I think we should wait until this issue is resolved. I want to see how Robert handles this. He must be smart in business, but he seems dumb in relationship matters."
"Perhaps it’s because we kept the truth from him."
"What truth, mom?" Robert asked from the entrance. Sabrina stiffened slightly, wondering for how long he has been there.
It was a weekday and was also night, so no one expected Robert to pay his parents another surprise visit. Sabrina was also not so thrilled to see him today, hoping that he hadn’t heard too much.
"Robert, how long have you been there?"
Robert ignored his mother and addressed his father. "Dad, do you really think I’m so dumb? Do you think it’s fair that I don’t know the woman who saved my life?" He asked with a bitter expression.
Robin wanted to withdraw his words but thought against it. It was good that Robert was eager to show appreciation to the woman who saved his life, but,
"It isn’t, but her wish is our command."
Robert’s teeth were gnashing together when he didn’t seem to be making headway with his parents. They provided him with everything and showered him with so much love, but why were they keeping something so vital from him? Robert could not understand.
"Why do you make it so hard for me?" The pain in his voice caused his parents’ hearts to sink, but none of them could say any comforting words to him.
"Giselle was sick today. I wanted to be there for her, but each time, I withdraw because I’m afraid." Dejection laced his voice, he felt miserable.
Robin would have indeed told him and cautioned him to keep it a secret, but he was also afraid that that would be the driving force for Robert to chase the woman he wanted.
A man should be bold and go after what he wanted, daring the consequence. That was Robin’s resolve, and he wondered why his son was so different.
However, it made sense to him. When he had gotten married the first time, he had treated Sabrina badly because he thought Zayla saved his life.
But it was good that Robert wanted things to be done this way. Nobody would get hurt in the end.
"You don’t have to be afraid to follow your heart. If the woman who saved your life doesn’t want you to know, it’s because she wants you to be happy."
"But I want to know. I will never be happy until I find her."
"And Giselle?" Sabrina asked. Robert paused. Giselle’s presence every morning was like a ray of sunshine.
Her voice rings in his head every day, especially in his lonely nights when he wishes to have her by his side.
It has been very difficult for him to hide his feelings, and this secret was only messing up his life. For his parents keeping something so huge from him, he no longer felt welcome to the villa.
"I wanted to spend the night here, but I changed my mind. Good night." Before either Robin or Sabrina could stop him, he was gone like the wind, just as he had appeared.
Robert sat in the car not knowing where to go. He wanted to drive to Giselle’s house to have a talk with her, but something he couldn’t lay a finger on kept preventing him.
In the end, he decided to chat with her on WeChat. ’Hi, did you take the test?’
He waited for ten minutes, but there was no response as Giselle usually will. Mostly, it took seconds for her response to come in.
Thinking that she might be sleeping, he called her directly. It would be like her boss trying to check on her.
The phone was answered on the first ring, but it didn’t seem like she was sleeping. She was rather sorrowful, and Robert’s heart sunk. "What is the problem, why are you crying?"
A dozen flowers had been delivered to Giselle a while ago, but it ended up making her cry more, as she wished they were from Robert.
"I’m just watching a sad movie," she lied, but Robert caught through, instantly saying,
"Give me the title. I will like to watch it too." Her mind went blank, as no sad movie title immediately came to mind.
