The No.1 Anti-Fans in Basketball-Chapter 86 - 82: The Future is Yours (Combined)_3
Chapter 86: Chapter 82: The Future is Yours (Combined)_3
"Hoping they’ll enjoy the game," Hansen’s answer stunned everyone.
Was this still the guy who had previously idolized Bird and made bold claims?
Could it be that he was only capable of imitating Bird’s remarks?
However, as others were thinking this, Hansen’s following comments provoked another wave of boos from the crowd.
"After all, I am not the first to go on this time."
The reporters reflexively took a small step back; the aura of aggression was simply too overpowering.
"I’ve said it before, he’s the next Bird," Johnson laughed heartily at the commentator’s table.
The final started, and Pierce was the first to go.
Pierce, true to his reputation as a clutch player, performed even better than in the preliminaries under the pressure from Hansen and being the first to go.
He ended up scoring the second 20 points of the evening among those present.
When the final money ball sank, the venue erupted in violent cheers.
Since the NBA contest began in 1986 and had been held for 24 editions, only 9 champions scored over 20 points.
In other words, Pierce’s 20 points already gave him a 50% chance of winning the championship.
Pierce’s gaze towards Hansen was even more provocative as he stepped off the court.
Comparing mental fortitude? You rookie are still too green!
Hansen’s reaction caught Pierce by surprise again, as Hansen simply gave Pierce a thumbs up.
Good job, not bad for my first hater!
Pierce withstood the pressure, but Curry did not.
Hansen’s words, and also Pierce’s 20 points, were pressuring him, after all, he was just a rookie.
Although he was the same age as Hansen at 21, he didn’t have another soul living inside him.
Curry ended up with 17 points, missing out on the championship.
Next up was Hansen, the last to go.
As Hansen stood up, he was greeted with the familiar sound of boos.
At this rate, after playing for two more years, he would become the player version of "Stern," attracting boos wherever he went.
Hansen’s face still wore a smile, his demeanor relaxed.
The contestants this year weren’t very strong; Curry was there, yes, but he was still a rookie.
If peak Curry and Thompson had come together, he would definitely have felt pressure.
But now, his real opponent was more himself.
The fluctuation at the third rack in the preliminaries was also a reflection of his mental state.
He may have practiced a lot, but after all, he was not truly a machine.
Adjusting his mindset, Hansen moved to the right side of the half-court, ready to begin.
"Toot!"
With the sound of the whistle, his finals officially began.
At the first rack, his performance wasn’t as good as in the preliminaries. Out of 5 balls, only 3 went in, but fortunately, the last money ball was made.
The spectators, seeing this, showed anticipation, as it seemed Hansen’s performance could not always be stable, and Pierce had a chance.
But from the second rack onwards, their idea slowly vanished.
Starting with the third ball at the second rack and continuing all the way to the second ball at the fourth rack, Hansen was unerring.
The sound of the ball swishing through the net at the venue became a symphony of three-point shots.
He completed a streak of ten consecutive hits!
The fans at the venue were frenzied.
Hansen was born for the three-point contest!
By the end of the fourth rack, Hansen’s score had already reached 20 points!
As Hansen ran towards the fifth rack, he felt his troll-meter rising rapidly.
This is the feel! So satisfying!
At the final rack, Hansen scored 4 out of 5, fixing his score at 24 points!
This result could rank second among all three-point contest champions, second only to Kabono’s 25 points in 2008!
Seeing the last money ball bounce out, Hansen felt a slight regret, then turned around with a smile, raising his hands to greet the cheers from the fans.
He indeed attracted haters, but he could truly deliver.
This wasn’t a slap in the face, it was domination!
"Starting today, I am his fan, and no one can stop me!" Barkley shouted at the commentator’s desk, even pulling Kenny Smith’s hand to block in front of him.
Kenny Smith was laughing heartily, Barkley’s prior acts were all akin to those of a fan.
At this moment, the other contestants also gave Hansen a round of applause, an acknowledgment of a convincing loss.
Apart from that opening statement which was quite arrogant, Hansen then high-fived Curry and gave a thumbs up to Pierce; his conduct was very [magnanimous].
Shortly after the match ended, a ceremony was held to present the trophy for the three-point contest.
After receiving the champion’s trophy, Hansen also made an acceptance speech.
"I want to thank my coach, Mike Brown, whose three-point training is probably the most rigorous in the league."
Mike Brown, who was on vacation at home, suddenly sneezed; he probably didn’t expect to be the first to be thanked by Hansen.
The audience was also somewhat surprised; after all, from previous news, it didn’t seem like Hansen and Brown got along that well.
But this made them all the more appreciate Hansen’s magnanimity.
"Next, I’d like to thank the fans here." Of course, Hansen had to thank the fans; they did contribute a lot to his troll-meter.
"Your presence is our greatest motivation. This trophy belongs to every single one of you."
As Hansen finished, the venue erupted in applause.
Despite Hansen’s flair for drama, he was genuinely skilled.
"Finally, I want to thank one more person."
Hansen looked towards the contestants as he said this, briefly glancing at Pierce.
Pierce was slightly stunned; he suddenly had the illusion he was about to be manipulated.
Fortunately, that was quickly proven to be just an illusion, as Hansen soon skipped over him and turned his gaze towards Curry.
That guy was definitely doing it on purpose!
Pierce’s teeth grated audibly.
Looking at Curry, Hansen was sincere:
"Stephen, the future is yours."
Just like the boy from Akron, you deserve as much praise as LeBron James.
Thunderous applause filled the venue.
Although both Hansen and Curry were rookies, Hansen was now the three-point champion.
This was a champion’s highest praise for a newcomer.
