Rex accepted Linthtia's departure and headed back inside.

People stopped training to greet him, and he only responded with a small nod.

He headed back to the top floor, ascending with a step at a time, and when he reached the chamber at the very top, his legs gave out. Clutching his chest, he gritted his teeth in pain, "Viora already healed me completely, but some pain persists…"

He headed back to the top floor, ascending one step at a time.

Once he finally reached the highest chamber, back to where he was earlier, his legs gave out suddenly. Clutching his chest, he gritted his teeth to fight the pain, "Viora healed me back to health, but some of the pain still lingers..."

Firstly, the pain from the Gradual Penalty was still rising with the nearing Blood Moon.

It treated his pain tolerance as if it were nothing, as if he were someone vulnerable.

Unlike the usual, the pain was similar to when it was the first time he was gravely wounded.

Like his body was normal and young all over again, unaccustomed to pain.

Additionally, the limitation backlash from the Inevitable Death was also taking a toll on him, all because of his own failings. He forgot to absorb blood first—before using the Inevitable Death, and because of that, he was suffering from the backlash.

Even though he was completely healthy physically, his insides were suffering.

No amount of healing could ease the pain other than time.

Fortunately, in this tower, he has time.

"Increasing my mastery over life energy should help me with the limitation. Maybe, I wouldn't even need to care about the backlash. Might as well get used to utilizing the Dark Auctoritas Echo here before I get out too," Rex leaned his head back onto the wall, resting for a little bit. "Maybe I should also try and utilize the normal techniques from the Mortal Realm here. Some of them might work."

As he rested for about ten minutes, he saw a flash of memory.

How he devoured the chorus-bearers and fought against the Singing Lady directly.

It snapped his eyes open as he recalled what had happened.

"He… He managed to take control of me," Rex uttered in realization before his face hardened, recalling how—in the moment of weakness, the Invincible Apparition was able to take charge of his body. "I can't let that happen again. I don't know what he'll do when he's in control."

In snippets, Rex recalled the fight. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

He recalled how the Invincible Apparition's approach was in fighting the Singing Lady.

As much as Rex disliked the Invincible Apparition, mainly because of its form, he could not deny the brutal effectiveness of its strategy. Using all five chorus-bearers as lures—for the Singing Lady, turning one into a Werewolf, devouring three to gain an Echo, and leaving the last as a distraction was both ruthless and sadistic.

Rex wouldn't be able to think something like that.

Firstly, he didn't notice the chorus-bearers, and he would not use that kind of brutal mind games. Mainly because he'd hate it if someone used that kind of thing on him, but he was also not in a good condition to think like that.

All of his mind games are deliberate and precise.

On the contrary, the Invincible Apparition's mind games are more spontaneous and eccentric.

Then again, it works perfectly.

The Invincible Apparition managed to go toe-to-toe against the Singing Lady, overpowering her powerful Spirit Genesis with the help of the Puppet Resistance passive skill, and almost winning in the end before Kei Xun stepped in to intervene.

"I can feel this weird feeling," Rex reached for his chest. "A satisfied feeling from unleashing him for the first time in a long time. I know that it could be bad—especially since he did not care about anyone other than himself, but I feel lighter."

"As if there's a knot inside me, and it's becoming loose thanks to this." He rubbed his chest.

Just then, a voice echoed inside his mind.

'To whom am I talking…?'

'Do you even know what this sensation was?'

'So, you haven't killed a God and you don't know anything about the stages.'

It was Kei Xun's voice.

At the moment, the Invincible Apparition was the one she was talking to.

Only now did Rex remember how he had talked with her.

"She knew about the Invincible Apparition," Rex thought, his brows furrowing in response.

"Her question clearly showed she knew about the Invincible Apparition, it was quite obvious. The System told me to reach the first stage—before I could know more about the Scions... Is there a correlation between the first stage of invincibility and the Invincibel Apparition?"

Rex wasn't quite sure.

But he was about seventy percent sure that there was a correlation.

"Perhaps, I should merge with the Invincible Apparition somehow?" He contemplated, clearly troubled—if this was the case. "I am afraid that if I merge with him, it is going to be harder to be in control. I don't want that, not when a lot of things are at stake right now…"

No matter what angle Rex took to see this, he didn't like the idea of merging.

It sounded like a big trouble.

However, that might really be the case to reach the first stage of invincibility.

"Even if I want to, how do I do that?" He leaned his head back, sighing heavily. "I don't know—and I can tell that asking the System would be futile since it was the one—who told me to reach the first stage first before learning anything about the Scions."

"What does this have to do with invincibility?" Rex scratched his head in frustration.

Being invincible meant being all-powerful.

An entity so strong that it wasn't threatened by anybody.

Or rather, nobody could pose a threat to it.

A state that even the Gods couldn't reach

Since he could even pose a threat to the Lunirich Gods, the Gods are also not invincible.

Considering Kei Xun talked of killing Gods, it's logical.

Someone who has a chance to reach absolute invincibility like the Scions must be higher than the Gods, so killing the Gods is nothing. And from the way she phrased it, the other Scions must have killed some Gods already.

Rex chuckled to himself.

Never did he expect there was a point in his life that he'd address Gods light like this.

Now it's basically confirmed, I'd end up a God if I go down this road. \\

But what choice do I have?

Regardless, he couldn't think of the reason why being invincible must involve merging with the other side of him. Having two sides fighting for one body—would surely be an extreme disadvantage, so it should not have any correlation with the path to invincibility.

But he couldn't think of anything other than that.

"I'll figure it out eventually," Rex shook his head and focused on the moment. "For now, I'd train first."

"Y-You..." April's voice suddenly rang, hesitant. "You also talk to yourself, too..."

Rex glanced at her and saw her standing a couple of steps away from him.

"How long have you been there?" He asked.

"Almost from the moment you got back," She answered firmly. "I thought I was the only one, who talked to myself when I am alone. I didn't expect you to do that, too. Great Elder always told me that it's a sickness for the intelligent."

"Not really a sickness. Just a habit of someone who has no one to talk to," Rex replied dryly.

Grabbing the edge of the wall, he tried standing up on his own and almost failed.

April was quick enough to support him before he fell.

"Where's Linthia?" She asked, finding nobody else here other than them. "Is she downstairs?"

"She left." Rex's face hardened. "She has her own journey to walk on."

"I see…" April nodded in understanding.

Considering that Linthia got crippled by Kei Xun, she certainly felt burdened to stay, April knew that much over the days she spent with Linthia. Other than her high regard for Rex, she's also headstrong and wouldn't listen to anyone but Rex.

However, inside, April was secretly happy.

'Alone with Lord Rex…' She thought with an excited smile. 'That means I can watch him train, like... every day.'

"Help me back to my spot, I'm going to continue my meditation," Rex said.

Just like that, Rex and April spent their days inside the Forsaken Tower training rigorously.

It wasn't intended, but the two gladly accept the opportunity given to them.

Every single passing day inside the Forsaken Tower was spent cultivating their Soul Artifacts, absorbing as much life energy as they could to progress into the next rank. Both were always feeding their Echo, taming it more and more by the day.

Although a day is still twenty-four hours, nothing has changed.

As always, the sun would still be on top of them since time flowed differently here.

Rex, along with the others inside the tower, didn't need to bathe or eat, their bodies were in a hibernation state since outside, barely much time passed. One day outside equals around ten years inside.

So their bodily functions will remain the same.

It'd be great if that also included their stamina, but they could get tired.

Knowing the time ratio, Rex was planning to train for ten years inside.

That'd be one day outside, and that's perfect.

He didn't stay longer because there wouldn't be a point.

Regardless of how much life energy the tower has, the progress would get too slow.

Rex must enhance his progress using the Nightfall Stars he accumulated, but since he used a lot of them—during his initial battle against the Singing Lady, they will run empty soon. Once he ran out of Nightfall Stars, he'd train his mastery over life energy and Spirit Genesis before eventually leaving the tower.

Nobody could go inside, but the people inside could go outside.

So, they could leave anytime—not that they wanted to, of course.

His goal is to reach the Master Immortal Spirit 5 on his Red Dawn of Kaiser and Aegis of Moon Sentinel.

For now, he wouldn't touch the Mask of the Banished Eclipse and only focused on those two.

Being the only two people residing on the upper floor, Rex and April naturally got close.

Since their progress was overwhelmingly fast, they needed to take a break once in a while, and during that time, they spent time talking about everything. Starting from lighter topics, food, hobbies, and other things.

April initiated the conversation first, feeling that Rex wasn't happy in the least.

Despite bumping into this kind of opportunity, he never once smiled.

She realized that Rex barely reacted to anything now that the situation had calmed down.

It was almost as if he were a robot, detached from any emotions.

Naturally, April can't have that since they were going to be together for years.

She started small, asking Rex about his exercises, meditation technique, and martial arts.

But soon, the conversation developed into a more casual topic.

History, firearms, hobbies, and even favorite food.

Since the System's Shop also sells food, Rex let April taste the food from his realm.

He even decided to try some food from the Spirit Realm.

Both were beginning to feel the shift in the fourth month, when Rex surprisingly exhausted his resources already. He couldn't continue quickening his growth with Nightfall Stars, only the tower's raw life energy could help.

He was already a Master Immortal Spirit on both Soul Artifacts now.

Recently, he was even able to consolidate in his new rank and get used to it.

From the Alpha Quest, he got a lot of rewards.

Mostly, he got another Red Selection Ticket, three million gold, a lot of exp, and even more Nightfall Stars. All of those rewards were already halved from what he should have gained, since he failed to devour the Singing Lady.

It can't be helped, so he has to make it work.

Naturally, being at level 49, he broke the level 50 mark and was rewarded for it.

On top of those rewards, he also obtained a Genesis Amplifier.

April told him that a Genesis Amplifier is rare, but not that rare.

It was used to enhance the existing Spirit Genesis, giving a small boost to its power.

But what she didn't expect was to have the Genesis Amplifier with a hundred percent purity.

Such a thing was extremely rare, and it could even influence the power of the Law.

Rex saved it to use it later after he trained more in controlling his Spirit Genesis.

Even through those rewards, he still exhausted them by the early days of the fourth month.

At that moment, his progress was slow.

It was mainly because sustaining his strength at the Master Immortal Spirit rank was rough.

So, he has to change up his routine.

"Say, what about training your Soul Artifact's form?" April suddenly suggested.
