Jade Pavilion.
Vincent Ward had just finished diagnosing a patient when he saw Carson Flores walk in.
Vincent Ward quickly stood up, smiling, “Mr.
Flores, you’re here!
I was just talking about you with old He.”
“Old He?”
Carson Flores was startled for a moment before realizing, and said with a smile, “Raphael Schneider?
You caught me off guard with that ‘old He’.”
Vincent Ward laughed, “Yes, Raphael Schneider.
He just called me, saying that everything depended on your help this time; otherwise, Leonard Reid would have definitely cleaned his clock.”
Carson Flores asked curiously, “It was nothing, really.
Vincent, by the sound of it, have you guys made up?”
Vincent Ward said cheerfully, “Yes, it’s sort of a mutual reconciliation.
Both sides were in the wrong in some way.
He said that you taught him a lesson, and from you, he saw the true demeanor of a great doctor.”
Carson Flores sat down across from Vincent Ward, chuckling.
“I was just seized by the moment.
I don’t even count as a doctor; I don’t have a single qualification certificate.”
Vincent Ward remarked, “A doctor who can save people is a good doctor.
The two of us had quite a chat, reflecting on our original intentions when we first pursued a career in medicine.
He has already committed to participate in a charity event for disabled children, offering free medical services for the next two years, traveling with the team, helping those kids.”
Carson Flores was mildly surprised, then immediately gave a thumbs up, “Good on you, old He!”
Vincent Ward looked at Carson Flores with admiration, “Raphael told me that you donated the 10 million consultation fee that Mr.
Reid gave you.
That’s truly admirable.”
Carson Flores said with a laugh, “Ah, we all pretended to be grand and high-minded before, right?
If I skulked away with the 10 million in the end, Leonard Reid might not say it, but he’d scorn me in his heart.
After all that posturing, it still boils down to taking the money.
If you’re going to put on an act, you might as well go all the way.
Look at the 5 million that Blake Simmons gave me; I happily accepted that.”
Vincent Ward chuckled, “Even if it’s just for show, you’ve got to be willing to go through with it.
Speaking of which, Mr.
Flores, did you stop by for something specific today?”
Carson Flores said with a smile, “Leonard Reid gifted me a ginseng root, and I was thinking of mixing up some medicine to give a senior some warming tonics.
I came to buy some herbs.”
Vincent Ward said with a laugh, “What do you mean buy?
Treat this place like your own home.
Take whatever you need.”
“Alright, then I won’t stand on ceremony with you, Vincent.”
Vincent Ward laughed heartily, “Good, don’t be shy.
Before, when Mr.
Reid was inquiring about you, I was afraid he’d trouble you, so I deliberately mentioned that I got to know you through saving Blake Simmons.
I heard that Blake Simmons is somewhat friends with him too, so it might ward off some trouble.”
Carson Flores nodded, “You’re thoughtful, Vincent.”
Carson Flores was selecting herbs when Rebecca Ward walked in.
Her eyes lit up immediately upon seeing Carson Flores, “Big brother Carson, you’re here.”
Carson Flores turned and smiled, “Just came to pick up some medicine.”
Rebecca Ward walked over to Carson Flores and watched as he confidently selected herbs without even needing to weigh them, and couldn’t help but praise, “Big brother Carson, you’re amazing.
You don’t even weigh the herbs?”
Carson Flores said with a chuckle, “For warming formulas, they don’t need to be that precise, plus I’m used to it.
The amounts will roughly be correct.”
Rebecca Ward blinked, “Big brother Carson, are you free tonight?”
Carson Flores nodded, “I’m free.
Why, something up?”
Rebecca Ward looked at him expectantly, “I have a classmate from Polgel, she invited me to dinner tonight and said she wanted to go to a bar afterwards.
I want to go, but grandpa is worried about safety.
Can you accompany us, big brother Carson?
It’ll be my treat.”
After thinking it over, Carson Flores replied, “As long as your grandpa approves, I don’t see why not.”
When Carson Flores got home, he mostly just chatted with the old man, played with his phone, and watched TV.
Honestly, it was pretty boring.
In the end, Carson Flores was a twenty-something year old; who wanted to hide at home after work?
Going out with Rebecca Ward would be like being an older brother looking after a younger sister.
Rebecca Ward was very happy and ran off to ask Vincent Ward for time off.
When Vincent Ward heard that Carson Flores would accompany them, he agreed immediately.
He had a lot of confidence in Carson Flores and, frankly, Vincent Ward was quite open to the idea of having Rebecca and Carson Flores be friends.
If Rebecca wasn’t just eighteen this year, Vincent Ward would even wish for Carson Flores to be his grandson-in-law.
After Carson Flores had prepared the medicine, he placed it in his car, then took a taxi with Rebecca Ward and her classmate to meet up for the dinner.
The meeting place was a hotpot restaurant, and Raelynn Howell, Rebecca’s classmate, was already there when they arrived.
Raelynn Howell was quite pretty and had makeup on, looking more mature than Rebecca Ward.
Raelynn Howell eyed Carson Flores and teased with a smile, “Rebecca, it hasn’t been that long since I saw you, and you already have a boyfriend?”
Rebecca Ward blushed, “Stop kidding around.
He’s our grandfather’s age-old friend, Carson Flores.
I call him big brother Carson.
It’s not safe for us two girls to go to a bar alone, so I asked him to accompany us.”
Raelynn Howell greeted with a beaming smile, “Hello big brother Carson.”
Quite worldly-experienced.
Carson Flores smiled and took a seat, “Eat and play as you wish; just pretend I’m not here.
I’m just here to be your bodyguard tonight.”
Raelynn Howell said with a smile, “Then we’ll feel very secure.
Shall we have a drink?”
Carson Flores chuckled, “Are you even of legal age to drink?”
Raelynn Howell stared at Carson Flores with twinkling eyes, “I’m 18 now, big brother Carson.
You’re not going to tell us not to drink, are you?”
“With hotpot, you’ve got to pair it with ice-cold beer.”
Carson Flores replied lazily with a smile, “I’m neither your parents nor your teacher, so what’s it to me?
Besides, I heard you’re heading to a bar later.
Why go to a bar if you’re not drinking…”
