Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Not for You

By the time Xia Xing received the news and rushed over from home, he saw Nan Yu with blood all over her hands, calmly telling the police, "They tried to kill me."

He followed her gaze and was shocked on the spot.

In the alley, nine burly men with severe injuries were lying down, and another one, terrified, was squatting in the corner, shivering.

At the outer edge, a thin man like a bamboo stick, covered in blood, couldn’t move and was leaning against the wall.

His face was ferocious, as if he wished to devour Nan Yu alive, and he was still saying, "Nan Yu, I won’t let you go, you wait for me."

And Nan Yu sighed and innocently told the police, "See, he still wants to kill me now."

The officer beside her stayed silent for two seconds and then said, "I’ve got a good understanding of the situation, if there’s any need for additional information, we will contact you."

Xia Xing came back to his senses, put away the complicated look in his eyes, and quickly walked forward, "Hello, officer, I am Miss Nan’s assistant, and this is her lawyer, Sun Lu."

He then pointed to the woman behind him wearing black-framed glasses, "She will be fully responsible for this case going forward. She will negotiate with you, and we will fully cooperate with any requirements you have."

Sun Lu handed her business card to the officer, then nodded at Nan Yu.

Nan Yu raised her eyebrows, surprised by the presence of these two people.

Only after getting into the car did she speak, "Assistant Xia, how did you come to be here?"

Xia Xing explained, "The police called President Huo’s office, and I answered it. I informed President Huo, and he asked me to come over immediately to handle this."

As he spoke, he glanced at Nan Yu’s pale face through the rearview mirror, "Miss Nan, are you alright?"

Nan Yu covered the ferocious wound on her arm and said softly, "I’m fine."

She thought of Sun Lu, who went to the police station to continue dealing with the matter, and said, "Assistant Xia, I can handle this matter myself; there’s no need to bother Lawyer Sun. Please ask her to go back."

Xia Xing drove in silence and didn’t respond until they arrived at the hospital. Before getting out of the car, he finally spoke.

"Miss Nan, you are now Mrs. Huo, and your affairs have a certain impact on the company. If this matter isn’t handled well, it could have a major impact, especially since it involves a murder case."

"You shouldn’t feel any burden; everything President Huo is doing is for the company and the Huo Family’s reputation, not just for you."

He paused briefly, his expression growing more serious.

"Miss Nan, I must say one more thing, please consider the Huo Family before you act in the future, and try not to cause so much trouble again."

Upon hearing this, Nan Yu’s eyes flickered, and she bit her lip, "I understand. Please thank him for me, and tell him that I will maintain a good distance from him, and I will also hide our marriage in the future, so as not to cause you any more trouble."

"This accident was my mismanagement; consider that I owe him for this. I will be careful in the future and will not make the same mistake again."

After finishing her words, she got out of the car and went into the hospital to treat the wounds on her hand.

Xia Xing followed behind her, still remembering the tasks entrusted by President Huo.

"Miss Nan, there’s another thing, President Huo heard that the old madam gave you two keys..."

Nan Yu suddenly stopped, her eyes slightly reddened, and she turned back to look at Xia Xing, trying to remain calm as she interrupted him.

"Don’t worry, I won’t be staying at those two houses, but I don’t have the keys on me today. I’ll give them to you another day."

Xia Xing responded, "Alright, Miss Nan."

He glanced down at Nan Yu’s delicate arms, now bloodstained, with wounds gaping open to expose the flesh and bone inside, looking extremely painful.

Looking up again at her pale yet determined face, he suddenly felt a bit choked up.

Had he been too harsh?
