The Extra Seeks Chaos-Chapter 254: The Next Morning
Arin opened his eyes.
Instantly, the sun peeping through the window hit him, making him squint his eyes a bit.
"What the hell?" Arin muttered.
To be honest, he didn't even know why he said that.
He just knew that something was off.
He was yet to get up from the bed, so he continued staring at the window.
After a few seconds...
"Seraphine..."
"What the hell is it?" Seraphine asked, her tone laced with anger.
Arin furrowed his brows. "Huh? Why do you sound angry?"
"What?!" Seraphine replied with a question. "Are you just playing dumb, or...?"
Arin sighed. "I don't understand what you mean."
He got up from the bed and stretched his arms. "When you're ready to talk, I'll be here to listen."
Seraphine just mumbled incoherent words, but Arin didn't bother to ask her anything again.
"Though, I still feel like something's off, but I definitely feel good, that's for sure," Arin muttered to himself.
He felt like a lot of things were off, but he just couldn't pinpoint any one of them.
Suddenly, as he was stretching his arms, his eyes darted towards the window.
"Hmm, that's one of the things that's off," he muttered, staring at the window.
Roxanne wasn't in the room. If not, she would have been standing in the window as usual.
"Hmm, where could she be?"
Arin quickly freshened up and wore his cloak and mask before leaving the room and exiting the building.
His eyes kept darting to the left and right, searching for Riya and the others.
He knew that they weren't in their rooms because he knocked but there was no response from any of them.
"Hey, Tessa," Arin said to Tessa telepathically as he continued walking towards where the villagers were carrying out their daily activities.
They were all smiling even more than before, and from the look of things, there was a certain conversation going on.
"Ah, yes, we did a feast yesterday till early this morning," Arin murmured, just remembering.
A small frown formed on his face. "Hmm, the last thing I remember was getting dragged by Fang to the bonfire. After that... I can't seem to remember anything else."
"There's no way you would remember anything else!" Seraphine suddenly exclaimed in his mind.
"Look, just tell me what you're talking about instead of talking in bits," Arin said.
Seraphine growled. "You dumbass. You were dr-"
"Hey Arin. How are you feeling now?" Tessa suddenly said in Arin's head, making him unable to hear what Seraphine said.
Her voice sounded concerned and carried a bit of urgency, making Arin raise a brow.
'What is going on with everyone today?' he thought.
"Yes, I'm fine. Where are Riya, Ethan and Leon?"
"We are all in the meeting room. We're helping Fang arrange a few things."
"Alright. I'll soon be there," Arin said.
Finally, he got closer to where villagers were present, but then, he began receiving smiles from the majority of them.
'Maybe they're still grateful for our help against the Beast Tide,' Arin thought.
But he quickly demolished that thought as soon as he heard what one of them said.
"Hey, it's the comedian!"
"No, he's a dancer, not a comedian."
"Nah, I preferred the songs he sang more than his dance moves."
"Yeah, that's true..."
Arin's expression instantly changed to that of confusion.
'Wait, what?'
'Okay, I think I remember dancing and showing off some moves from Earth. They found it funny and called me a comedian.'
So, Arin completely understood why they called him a dancer and comedian, but...
'Singer? I sang? When? I don't remember singing...'
Just to confirm, Arin decided to ask Seraphine.
"Hey, Seraphine, did I, perhaps, sing last night?"
Silence.
No answer.
"Ugh... Seraphine, just answer me."
There was still no answer.
'Fuck it.'
Arin decided to ignore it for now and head towards the meeting room. Leon would definitely tell him anything he wanted to know.
After a few minutes, he arrived at the meeting room.
And as soon as he entered...
Stare...
Except him, there were five individuals in the room, and the intensity of the stare he was receiving from three of them was absurd.
'What the hell did I do?'
Without saying anything, Arin sat down on one of the chairs, his gaze fixated on the papers that were on the table.
It seemed they were helping Fang who was also present, sort out a few papers.
"Hey Chaos," Ethan broke the silence. "You never told me you were such a good singer."
Immediately Arin heard this, he decided to ask his question directly.
"Okay, somebody, tell me what's going on," Arin said, his gaze sharp.
Riya turned to look at him, her brows raised.
She wasn't wearing her mask, but well, the others had already seen her face before.
"Wait. You don't remember?" she asked.
"No," Arin replied shortly.
Fang sighed, but she did not say anything.
Leon was just smiling and staring at Arin... A kind of smile that felt like he was telling Arin that they were both in the same shoes.
"You got drunk," Tessa said.
Arin scoffed. "You're joking..."
Tessa looked at him.
"I'm not joking," she said to Arin telepathically. "I have no reason to joke about something like that."
At this point, Arin's expression became serious.
He could hear it in her voice... She was not joking.
"After getting drunk, you began singing this strange song..." Riya said.
'Oh shit. Maybe I sang a song from Earth,' Arin thought.
"But apart from that," Ethan said, both his expression and his tone filled with anger. "You joined Fang and Leon..."
Arin instantly furrowed his brows as he realized what Ethan was talking about.
"You don't mean..."
"Yes, that's what I'm talking about," Ethan said. "You joined Fang and Leon and was preparing to shove your right arm into the bonfire. What the hell did the three of you see in the bonfire?!"
Arin resisted the urge to facepalm.
'No wonder the last things I remembered were dancing and the villagers laughing at me,' Arin thought.
"Well, it's not like I'm the only one who got drunk. Stop making it sound like an offense," Arin said as he folded his arms.
The feast was meant for everyone to enjoy themselves, so it wasn't really like he committed a crime or something. Still...
'I ended up getting drunk, huh? That alcohol was really nice.'
Arin couldn't be bothered enough about it.
As for Fang, even though she was present, it looked like she wasn't even in the room.
She was just silent and was staring at the papers like a child who got scolded by her parents.
Well, she got scolded by Ethan.
If not for him, she would have lost her right arm.
Arin and Leon's own would just heal at once.
"Alright," Tessa said. "That aside, we're done recording the numbers of Beasts that were killed and the number of Beast cores that were collected."
Fang nodded, finally looking up.
Her usual demeanor had returned.
"Thank you all for your help. I really appreciate it," she said with a smile.
They all nodded in response.
With that, they left the room and Fang went her own way.
"I can see that Roxanne is with you," Arin said to Riya, noticing that the bracelet was on her wrist.
"Yes," Riya said as she pouted. "Just know that she'll be spending more time with me from now on."
Arin smiled. "You two are really close."
Riya giggled.
"Alright, Arin. I'll be with Miss Riya," Tessa said.
Arin nodded as he watched them both walk away. "Okay."
"It seems they want to have their conversation now," Seraphine said.
"Yeah, sure looks like it."
"So, what do you intend doing now?" Seraphine asked.
Arin began walking towards the village gate as he replied:
"Bazooka... I wanna summon Bazooka."
"Alright!" Seraphine said, sounding excited.
Arin ignored the smiles from the villagers and found his way to the village gate before leaving.
He entered the forest.
"Hmm, I should look for an open space with less trees. If I summon him now, the trees would be an obstruction."
With that, Arin began walking further into the forest, searching for the right space to summon Bazooka.
"This might be a long search," Seraphine said.
"Yeah, but we'll eventually see an open space," Arin said. "That's for sure."
*********
Vake was seated in the carriage as it levitated, his arms folded.
A grin formed on his face as he glanced at the glowing red orb beside him.
"Almost there..."
His gaze returned to the trees in front of him. He was in a forest, and thankfully, this forest had a small path where carriages could pass.
He began swinging his legs impatiently, but his grin was slowly widening after all, with the orb, he could tell that he was very close.
And now...
"Finally."
His eyes locked on a boy with a black mask walking through the forest as if he was searching for something.
Vake unfolded his arms and cracked his knuckles.
"Time for some beating..."
