The Evolution of Genius: Every Night, I Get Smarter!-Chapter 49: Bigshots
Chapter 49: Bigshots
The next day, as I waited patiently for my new car, I decided to tackle some important stuff related to Limen.
After going through all the data and info I had, I made up my mind to quickly find another lab space for my work.
This time, I chose to rent it from a well-established and reputable company that’s been in the game for years.
On top of that, I reached out to Washtell, Lipten, Rose & Kratz, a top-notch law firm based in New York, for some expert legal advice and support.
It wouldn’t come cheap, but winning this was essential.
I made the call and heard a voice on the other end, "Good day, I’m Lawrence Hamilton from Washtell, Lipten, Rose & Kratz. May I ask who’s calling, please?"
"I’m Maximillian Sullivan. I’m calling to discuss an urgent matter"
"It’s a pleasure to speak with you. Please, call me Lawrence. Now, can you provide me with some more details on your situation?"
"Certainly. I’ve encountered a situation involving my research, and I’d like to seek your guidance and assistance with resolving it. It’s a matter concerning the theft of my intellectual property and the claim of ownership by another entity.", I said firmly with a hint of anger.
"I see. We can certainly help with such cases. To proceed, I will need to gather some information. Could you say something about your background?"
"Certainly, Lawrence.", I thought for a second, "I am a mathematician and a scientist. I have extensive credentials, having proven the Goldbach Conjecture and published papers in Artificial Intelligence and Electronics. Recently, I’ve been working on experiments related to monopole-like materials, and I had a significant breakthrough."
"Thank you for sharing your impressive background, Sir Maximillian. Now... I suppose that the matter has something to do with your recent breakthrough?"
"Yes. I’ve been doing research on monopole-like materials. And have made a breakthrough with a material that possesses 99% monopole properties. This discovery was achieved during my work at a laboratory rented from Limen Innovations. Regrettably, they have stolen my data and product, boldly claiming it as their own."
"Ah, I see. Well, Max, you’ve come to the right place. Let me assure you that if you choose to have a lawyer from our firm represent you, there should be no doubt in your mind that your case is in capable hands. You can rest assured that we will do everything within our power to protect your rights and address this situation. Now, let’s start by gathering the necessary information. Do you have any paperwork, correspondence, or documentation related to your research and experiments?"
"Yes, I have detailed records of my work, research notes, and even emails with my colleague discussing the development of this material. I have placed the data in an MIT library as soon as I realized what Limen has done."
"Excellent, Maximillian. This was a smart move. It’s a great start. Let’s focus on establishing your reputation and credentials in the scientific community, as it will lend credibility to your claim. We want you to feel safe with your case in our hands, and that means leaving no stone unturned."
"Agreed, Lawrence. I’ll provide any necessary documents to support my case. Is there anything else I should be aware of?"
"At this stage, we should initiate a cease-and-desist order against the entity involved and demand that they retract their claim. We’ll then gather all evidence to build a strong case. And, Max, as we proceed, share as much about yourself and your work as you can. The more data we have, the stronger our position. You should feel confident in our expertise and dedication to your cause."
"I appreciate your guidance, Lawrence."
"It’s my pleasure, Max. We’re here to serve and protect your intellectual property rights. We want you to feel safe and secure with our team handling your case. Rest assured, we’re fully committed to helping you rectify this situation."
Then be added, "Sir. Maximillian, could you please hold on for a moment? I want to contact someone about it."
"Sure, no problem."
After a brief pause, the lawyer continued, "Alright, Max. We’re going to schedule a meeting for you to discuss the next steps. Please bring along anyone who’s been involved or witnessed your work on this project. We want to get a comprehensive understanding of your case."
After we have scheduled a meeting for the day after tomorrow, the call ended.
I gathered my notes and headed for the Discrete Math class, the only one that I still needed to attend.
As I was about to enter the class, I heard someone calling out to me, "Maximillian!"
I turned my head and saw Dean Bush looking in my direction, holding a letter in his hand.
He had a well-groomed appearance, with salt-and-pepper hair and a neatly trimmed beard.
I had a surprised expression and quickly greeted him, "Dean Bush, good morning."
"Good morning, Max. I have some information for you, but before that, could you create an email address for yourself, and send it to me? It seems all your messages are being sent to mine." He had a slightly amused yet comical expression on his face.
"Of course, Dean Bush. I’ll sort that out, but what were the emails about?"
Dean Bush beamed with pride, "Well, Max, it’s quite an accomplishment. You’ve received invitations from both Princeton University in the U.K. and Harvard to give a speech."
He looked as if he was the one being invited.
"Do they want me to give a talk about the Goldbach Conjecture?"
"They don’t have any specific requirements, Max. You’re free to choose the topic and talk about anything you’d like."
I nodded, understanding the situation. Dean Bush then added, "Oh, and there’s one more thing," and handed me the letter he had been holding.
Curious, I asked, "What is it?" But the Dean just gave me a smirk and said, "Well, check it out."
I looked at him with a suspicious expression, opened the letter, and from the top, it read:
Dear Maximillian Sullivan,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been nominated as a candidate for the prestigious Abel Prize, awarded annually by the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. This accolade recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of mathematics.

The Abel Prize Committee will conduct a comprehensive review of all nominations and announce the laureate in due course. We wish you the best of luck in this prestigious endeavor.
Warmest regards,
Chairman of the Abel Prize Committee
Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters
After some time, Dean Bush said, "Congratulations, Max."
I shot a look at him and said, "No need to congratulate me yet, Dean. I haven’t taken home the prize... not just yet."
Then I threw in, "By the way, Dean, you know if there’s a shortcut to grab that PhD quicker?"
The Dean looked at me and chuckled, "Haha, right, why didn’t I suggest it earlier? Of course, you can expedite the process. You’ll just need to pass the exams, but we can arrange that. I’ll send you an email with more details later."
I expressed my gratitude, saying, "Thank you, Dean." He smiled and replied, "No, thank you, Max." With that, he bid me farewell.
I proceeded to attend the class, sitting through it, and found that the lecture covered Graph Theory, a basic topic from Discrete Mathematics.
It didn’t present much of a challenge for me.
However, I had this class with Olivia, which made it more enjoyable, despite the simplicity.
After the class, Olivia and I headed to the campus cafeteria to grab a bite to eat.
But, just as I was about to bite in my burger, I received an unexpected phone call on my business number.
"Maximillian Sullivan, Dreamland Net. Who do I have the pleasure to speak with?"
The person on the other end introduced himself, "I’m John Kennedy from Microsoft. We’ve been following your work closely, Mr. Sullivan. We are interested in your GAI Weather application."
I was curious, but not surprised. There was no reason to lose my mind just because someone from Microsoft has called me.
"Thank you, John. So... what does Microsoft want with my Weather Prediction Software?"
Olivia looked at me with a cute, quizzical expression while continuing to eat, clearly intrigued by the mention of Microsoft.
