The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra-Chapter 333: Healing and Forgiveness
Chapter 333: Healing and Forgiveness
Healing was such a slow process, but no matter how slow it was, it would never be bothersome. It would all be worth it.
As such, two months had passed by. It was as though what happened over the last few months was nothing but a fleeting dream. Its aftermaths, though, were what woke up everyone, proving it happened.
After a few weeks of settling and dealing with the organization’s remnants and giving the last conclusion to the case, the empire and the world seemed to be getting back on the original track and continuing with their normal lives.
It also applied to those heavily involved, like Rave.
Trailing through the familiar hallways, a white-haired omega suddenly stopped. His eyes were glancing outside, his gaze filled with reminiscent thoughts.
Rave had come into the palace solely to investigate and find his parents. Also, in some way, he had taken refuge in it, knowing how he would be safe inside from the danger that would come his way.
And now, years later, he stayed for a completely different reason. Rave didn’t resign as a royal attendant. Obviously, this was because of a certain someone, always begging for him not to leave. Of course, Rave knew that even without Arren pestering him, he would stay.
In his years in the palace, his memories were fleeting, and even more so with his attachments. Those couldn’t even be compared to the memories he had in just a few months.
Rave took a deep breath and shut his eyes slightly. Thinking of the past few weeks, where he also underwent a change after talking with Ms. M, Rave also had a lot of realizations about himself and the future he wanted to pursue.
After all, Rave has been a bit confused lately about what to do next after his long-time goal has been realized. That was his lifetime goal. Rave thought he would pursue this goal his whole life.
Suddenly, it was over. To be honest, Rave also knew he would come to this conclusion.
Exhaling, Rave opened his eyes again, looking in front of him. At some point, someone had already stopped, not far away from him. Like him, he seemed to also be looking outside, and after sensing Rave’s gaze, he turned around and met his gaze.
Their eyes stared at each other; both seemed to have a lot to say to each other.
In the bottom of his heart, Rave had the urge to move and finally engulfed his whole being with the embrace of the other. Yet, reason and reality conspired to stop him.
Both had the same feeling at that moment, wanting to do something but not daring to.
They were only a few steps apart, but it was as if a kind of force was pulling them apart, making their feet freeze where they stood.
The two only stared at each other, no one moved.
"Long time... no see." Levin’s voice was the first to break the silence. His greeting was a bit old-fashioned and also sounded awkward.
Rave swallowed and nodded. Indeed, it was long time no see.
In the past two months, this was their first meeting.
"You went to see His Majesty?" Rave then asked, as though desperate to lengthen their conversation.
For some reason, Rave had the feeling, it would be their... last meeting for a while. His heart skipped a beat at that, though, something squeezing it painfully.
Levin bit his lower lip and exhaled before nodding.
"I did..." he paused as he swallowed, calming himself. Slowly, a small smile appeared on his lips. "But I’ve been told His Majesty is not here."
Levin also made his tone more lighthearted, just like how he smiled, attempting to dispel the awkwardness between the two. However, both knew his smile was fake.
Rave didn’t say anything to expose him. Instead, he, too... tried to smile. That in itself was not normal.
"Yes, they left a week ago," Rave informed the other; his tone was light.
Levin nodded, as if enlightened.
In fact, Levin knew that the monarch wasn’t in the palace. It was only an excuse. An excuse to see someone... before he leaves.
"You..." Rave stared at Levin; his tongue was suddenly tied as he couldn’t say anything. Even if there was a lot he wanted to say, he just couldn’t say it.
He hated this.
Again, no one spoke.
A few minutes had passed, and Rave took a step forward; Levin hadn’t made a move. It was as if... He was just mesmerized, waiting for Rave to approach him.
Soon, as they were facing each other, one step closer, their eyes never left each other. They were silent, but their eyes weren’t, not for a second.
"Do you..." Rave swallowed, his lips quivering. "...like me?" There, he said it. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
As the words fell, Rave’s heart quivered, anxiety creeping into him.
Rave knew he would not forgive himself if he had not asked this. His courage was low, but the shouts in his heart were louder.
Levin’s eyes widened slightly; he didn’t expect this.
However, it was only a split second, and he answered without any hesitation.
"I like you." Levin’s tone sounded so sincere and honest; his eyes were ever more so as he stared at the white-haired omega in front of him. His hand moved, raising as if wanting to touch the omega, but it stopped.
He then continued and confessed. "I like you, Rave. I really do."
There weren’t any flowery words, only heartfelt ones.
Hearing this, Rave’s lips trembled ever so slightly, and the corners of his eyes glistened. It was such a sincere confession. It was supposed to be a joyful occasion, but his heart felt so heartbroken.
"Me too," Rave responded, biting his lips, as if wanting to stop himself, but it was as though his heart already contained this feeling, and it surged. "I like you too."
It was more like a whisper, but Levin could hear it clearly. Shocked immediately filled his face; it was completely unexpected for him.
However, just like Rave, with the happiness was a bittersweet feeling.
Rave read it, without hearing Levin’s voice.
Suddenly, he couldn’t look Levin straight in the eye anymore. Rave lowered his head, and the top of his head leaned against Levin’s chest. He didn’t want Levin to see the unreasonable tears forming in his eyes.
Again, Levin’s hand moved as if wanting to embrace Rave, but it shook between stopping and going along with his heart.
Ultimately, he stopped. He didn’t deserve it.
This love... Levin didn’t deserve it.
"It’s not you," Levin heard Rave murmur. "Why are you tormenting yourself? I’m... I’m not mad at you." Rave’s words sounded mellow but had a certain firmness to them.
Levin shut his eyes and lowered his head.
Truthfully speaking, Rave was right, just like everyone else around him. However... It was Levin’s heart that couldn’t accept this. In some part of his heart, Levin was also blaming himself. To all the things that his parents did, to the blood that was running in his veins.
After knowing the heavy crimes his parents committed, even for the person he loved. Suddenly, Levin felt the same mark of a sinner was branded on him. Rave or the world might forgive him and say it wasn’t his fault, but Levin hasn’t forgiven himself yet.
Levin couldn’t get away from the accusation against himself.
"Dumb. Fool." Rave spouted, almost cursing like Arren. It seemed he was also being influenced by the future empress.
For the first time in this conversation, a genuine smile appeared on his face, making him feel amused.
He nodded and directly admitted it, not refuting Rave.
As silence pervaded them again, Rave made a bold request. At least, in his personality, it was already a bold request.
"At least, hug me." Rave bit his lips, shutting his eyes. "Don’t be such a cow—" His next words were muffled as Levin embraced him... engulfing him in such a tight embrace.
Rave also responded a second later, hugging Levin ever so tightly, cherishing the few moments.
Both knew... This time, it was not for them. Maybe... The heavens would pity them and make them reunite.
However, at this moment, the two didn’t think of anything else—of the problems or of the separation.
At that moment, they were in love. Heartbroken, but in love.
