The Boss King actually disguised himself as a novice village chief?!-Chapter 80 - 74 This is the Magic World I Was Foolish
80: Chapter 74 This is the Magic World, I Was Foolish
80 -74 This is the Magic World, I Was Foolish
Lind had undergone transformations in his body after taking the Magic Potion for the first time.
His body became as strong as a bear, and his hair grew at a rate as vigorous as flames, the golden strands gradually lengthening much faster than when he was a commoner.
He scratched at his half-long hair to keep it from obstructing his eyes.
Although he still remembered the etiquette of the Old Nobility, such as more delicately styled hair signifying elegance and wealth, the smooth golden hair was a pride of the Armand Family.
However, as the last heir of the Armand Family, Lind preferred shorter hair, most importantly, it shouldn’t block his vision.
Longer hair softened the contours of his cheeks, and even though Lind felt far from the image and demeanor of an elegant noble, it seemed the long hair indeed softened the sharpness of his face.
Lind looked at the Undead in the government hall; they all had very similar appearances, which was an interesting phenomenon.
Most people weren’t skilled at creating faces in games, and playing their favorite character in the game often meant directly using someone else’s face data, which was the most efficient way.
Lind sat in his Lord’s chair and started handling the daily governance like a Lord.
He was indeed a Lord, but the subjects who came to report weren’t so reliable.
The Undead that ended up taking up sentinel duties were frantically searching for traces of Calamity, also incidentally securing Star Dragon Ridge from various potential dangers.
Their method of scouting was so thorough that nothing could remain hidden; everything would inevitably be discovered one by one.
Lind had never mentioned a reward, but the Undead were very enthusiastic about the information they gathered, whether Ace Aimu found the Mad Wise Ones’ village, thereby starting the farming gameplay, or Long Live Sister Li accidentally discovered the Wanderer, thus ushering in an equipment upgrade, and now the Two-Headed People’s Magic Potion, they knew that each piece of information could yield unexpected rewards.
The rewards that could never be predicted were the real motivation.
“My Lord, I have information to report!” An Undead rushed forward impatiently, “We found hoofprints!”
Hoofprints, which had been mentioned several times before.
“And two bodies!”
Another Undead stepped forward and said, “It was a massacre.
It was evident that the slain had no capacity to resist, and the bodies had been dead for several days when we found them.”
Lind leaned forward slightly, not hiding his seriousness.
“Which direction?”
“From the Ghost Claw Tree, then along the creek that runs south past Star Dragon Ridge, all the way east.”
Someone’s expression changed slightly upon hearing about the creek but held back, deciding to wait a while longer to report.
Opportunities always existed, and one shouldn’t risk being muted by the Lord and miss out on subsequent missions.
The mentioned area of activity was similar to the routes where Lind had encountered hoofprints before.
Previously, the Undead’s range of movement wasn’t so extensive, and they didn’t encounter each other, so all was well.
But the situation was different now, the ambitious Undead wouldn’t miss a potential enemy.
No matter if they could defeat them, they would still stir things up.
Now it was pretty much confirmed that the other party was acting on some pattern, moving along a specific route at certain times.
“You did well on this,” Lind paused, then said, “I will investigate this and should have results in a few days.”
Having such a formidable enemy nearby was unsettling; he must act swiftly.
The enemy was at least at the Great Knight tier, a level which the Undead were not yet ready to confront.
Conveniently, he also needed the Heart of Calamity from a Great Knight tier.
There was no mention of rewards, and there was no need to elaborate further.
To the Undead, this was just part of a chain of quests.
Since Lind was interested in this matter, there would definitely be further developments.
The main challenge was perseverance.
The red-haired Undead who had been waiting for a chance finally stepped forward, “Lord!
There might be something very dangerous around us.”
“Dangerous?”
“Yes!” The red-haired Undead spoke with considerable gravity, “We went to the Ancient Battlefield and then inadvertently entered the foggy area to the west.”
Fog, covering the west, is a place no one should approach unless seeking death.
Only the Undead, those who do not value life and care not for death, would plunge headfirst into such deadly regions.
“What happened next?” Lind only knew of the fog’s existence.
It was said that the fog had been there for decades, in a world where the average lifespan was merely thirty to forty years—a span that already covered several generations, enough to tell a young child it happened “a long time ago.”
The apocalypse had only just begun a few years ago, but to everyone around the world, it felt as if a century had passed.
“When we first entered, we could see nothing and lost all sense of direction, but there was a high temperature leading us closer, which we thought might be a signal to find our way,”
Lind looked at the other with a speechless expression.
“Then, as we moved forward, we discovered there was water,” the red-haired Undead said with a surprised expression, “a vast lake, boundless and with water so dark and unfathomably deep.”
Lind studied his face for a while before finally confirming that the red-haired Undead’s shocked expression was indeed genuine, not just a natural demeanor.
Their similar “siblings” kept increasing in number, and identifying their identities was already challenging for the Undead at Star Dragon Ridge.
“We tried to get closer because it felt very hot inside.
Then, we were suddenly struck by a burst of flames and died,”
The red-haired Undead was frustrated.
“That place has been there for a long time, even longer than the apocalypse,” Lind felt it was necessary to remind them, “Focus on the development of Star Dragon Ridge for now.”
“Yes!”
It wasn’t that Lind didn’t want to be proactive, but it was clear that whatever was hidden within that fog was very powerful, definitely stronger than a Senior Grand Knight.
Agaist such a formidable foe, even if 3000 undead came to Star Dragon Ridge, it would be useless.
The reason the enemy hadn’t emerged was likely due to their indifference, as it’s quite normal for long-lived species to sleep for decades on end.
“My lord, we have discovered a canyon entrance in the east.”
“Dragon Tooth Canyon,” Lind nodded, “A towering canyon that has risen from the ground, situated at the Red Dragon Foothills.”
He casually shared some geographical knowledge, “It’s said that a divine-level Red Dragon fell, crashing in the eastern wilderness of Star Dragon Ridge.
The Red Dragon’s body transformed into foothills, and its roaring mouth towards the west became the entrance of the canyon.”
The geological shift wasn’t nearly as thrilling as the tale of the Red Dragon’s fall, but looking at the expressions of the Undead, it was clear they were captivated.
“Is there a chance we could get a dragon egg?”
Wanting to be a Dragon Knight, huh?
That seems unlikely.
The most famous Dragon Knight in the world is one of the Knights of the Apocalypse, subordinate to the Sun’s Testament, sculpted into the doorframe.
Dragons are not creatures that bear offspring through eggs.
However, obtaining a Flying Dragon’s egg could be possible.
Despite many Flying Dragon Knights in human history, the prerequisite would be to have a lifespan of a couple of hundred years to raise the Flying Dragon.
“So, does that mean there might be numerous Calamities hidden there?”
“Maybe?” Lind said, “Since the apocalypse, I haven’t left this region.
Still, I remember the afternoon when the gods and the dragon’s blood dyed the sky red.
Every evening since, the sky still seems to be stained with the lingering blood.”
An Undead raised his hand, “So, is it possible that the red sky at dusk could be a natural phenomenon?”
The other Undead all turned to look at him simultaneously.
The Undead shrank back, “Alright, this is Magic World; I was foolish to ask.”
