30 -0030: Pure Youth

Su Yiyi covered her ears, scared by the thunder.

Long Fei was in a predicament; he didn’t know where to put his arms, held them in the air for a long time, and, tired, eventually put them down, draping them over Su Yiyi’s body.

Su Yiyi bit her lip, her voice somewhat choked, “I still remember when I was little, before my mom remarried.

Whenever it thundered outside, she would hold me in her sleep just like this.”

Long Fei patted her body, comforting her, “Don’t cry now, from now on Brother Long will protect you, and no one will be able to bully you!”

Su Yiyi sobbed twice, “But what happens when Brother Long gets married?”

Long Fei laughed, “Silly girl, when Brother Long gets married, you’ll be getting married soon too!

By then, naturally, there will be boys who like you to protect you!”

Su Yiyi rubbed her little head against him, “Yiyi won’t marry, Yiyi will follow Brother Long all her life!”

God dammit, people often talk about soft girls.

Long Fei never understood this term, but today he finally experienced it.

Su Yiyi’s body was slender, seeming fragile and boneless when held, easily arousing improper thoughts.

He took a deep breath, forcibly calmed himself down, and simply ignored the girl.

After the thunder outside died down, a heavy rain began to pour.

Cool breezes blew in, making Long Fei feel much better.

Su Yiyi, too tired from her ordeal, slowly began to snore softly through her little nose.

Long Fei quietly left, covering her with a blanket.

He lay on the ground, unable to help but praise himself, thinking that he was indeed like Liuxiahui, impervious to temptation!

Unfortunately, no reporters spread his story, otherwise he would have been renowned for ages.

When daylight broke, the heavy rain stopped.

Long Fei, who hadn’t covered himself with a blanket, actually felt a hint of coldness early in the morning.

He opened his eyes, went outside to wash up, lit a cigarette, and took a drag leaning against the railing.

Today was Sunday, and Little Tiantian still had to attend her tutoring class.

He Yan got up early, dressed her, wheeled out the electric moped in the yard, and prepared to take her over.

Little Tiantian’s big eyes spotted Long Fei and greeted him, “Uncle Long!”

Long Fei smiled at her and waved his hand.

He Yan was a bit strange today and didn’t speak to Long Fei.

After leaving the house with Little Tiantian, she rode off on the electric moped.

Long Fei scratched his head, not knowing what the problem was, suddenly feeling very awkward.

After finishing his cigarette, he changed his shoes, went inside to fetch his bowl and chopsticks, planning to turn them in and then buy some breakfast for Su Yiyi.

The girl hadn’t slept well last night and was now sleeping soundly.

Long Fei locked the door from outside and walked down the street for a while, feeling something odd.

Along the street, many shops that hadn’t been open were now unlocking their doors, busy cleaning up.

Long Fei returned his bowl to the dumpling shop and curiously asked the owner, “Why have all the shops on the street suddenly opened?”

The owner laughed, “Don’t you know?

The students are starting school in a couple of days; of course, the stores have to open for business!”

Long Fei slapped his forehead, too busy to even remember the days.

If his family’s situation were better, he’d be going to school here too, not working.

He bought two breakfasts and, upon his return, Su Yiyi, the lazy bug, still hadn’t woken up.

Her blanket was half off, revealing her fair, delicate legs, her little face rosy and looking as if dusted with powder.

Long Fei sat on the bed, smiling at her little face, and pinched her nose.

She frowned, turned over, and murmured, “Brother Long, let me sleep a little longer!”

Long Fei instructed, “Get up, I bought breakfast, it won’t taste good if it gets cold!”

Su Yiyi stretched, rolled over, opened her big eyes and teasingly said to him, “Aren’t you afraid of fattening me up?”

Long Fei laughed, “Is being fat that bad?

Look at you, so skinny, you don’t even have any flesh on your bones!”

Su Yiyi pouted, then turned over and sat up.

She didn’t get out of bed but leaned over the table to take a look.

A common northern breakfast, tofu pudding with deep-fried dough sticks, and two small dishes.

Su Yiyi didn’t wash up, just grabbed a dough stick and took a bite, her hair all messy, not at all ladylike.

Long Fei looked at her but felt that girls, at times like this, were somehow prettier.

There was a natural laziness about her that was very endearing.

“After you finish eating, shall I take you back to school?”

Long Fei sipped his soup, not wanting Su Yiyi to waste more time with him.

She was in her last year of junior high and had middle school exams next year.

Su Yiyi made a face and changed the subject, “Where did you buy this tofu pudding?

It tastes better than the one at my school!”

Long Fei laughed and knocked her on the head, “Don’t change the subject.

Focus on school, and I’ll take you out to play next week.

If you’re not well-behaved, I won’t see you again!”

“I know, I know!”

Su Yiyi took another bite of her dough stick, pouting, “All you adults are the same, even more nagging than my mom!”

Long Fei was amused by her naughty appearance, thinking any girl had her charming side.

After they finished eating, Long Fei tidied things up and stepped outside to smoke a cigarette.

Su Yiyi changed into a skirt inside and then followed out, pouting at Long Fei, “General Long Fei, Princess here has finished dressing.

We may depart now!”

“Little imp!”

Long Fei laughed and pinched her cheek, then went inside to grab the snacks he bought for her the day before.

Once downstairs, Long Fei hopped onto his bicycle to ride her back to school.

The Number Eight Middle School was not far from Binhai University; just three street corners away.

This area was part of Southern Suburb of Binhai City, surrounded by urban villages, though seeming a bit more rundown.

At the school entrance, quite a few students were coming in and out.

Long Fei stopped by the side and let Su Yiyi off.

He looked at the old teaching buildings inside the school and curiously asked Su Yiyi, “What is the standing of your junior high in Binhai City?

Can it be ranked in the top three?”

Su Yiyi sighed, “Not the top three, it’s the third from the bottom.”

“What?”

Long Fei frowned and smiled at her, “So, does that mean you’re a poor student?”

Su Yiyi protested, “How could that be?

My grades are very good.

It’s just that junior highs are still divided by residential districts, and since my home is over here, I ended up at this middle school.”

Long Fei asked, “So, do you feel confident about your middle school exams next year?”

Su Yiyi looked up with confidence, “Of course, my goal is to get into the high school division of Number Two Middle School.

It’s the best high school in the entire city, way better than the high school division of our Number Eight Middle School!”

“Ambitious!”

Long Fei patted her on the head and told her, “Alright, I’ve got to go.

Call me if you need anything.

I’ll also make time to come see you!”

Su Yiyi waved her little hand in farewell.

She skipped back to school with her hands behind her back.
