The Beautiful Boss's Personal Bodyguard-Chapter 403
Chapter 403: 403
"Ding-a-ling!"
The grating sound rang throughout the entire underground space capsule, even more piercing than the air raid sirens on the streets.
"Yo ho, you’ve got the guts to press it. Not bad at all, much stronger than that fellow surnamed Zhang."
Ye Tian had the door to the space capsule locked tight; no explosives could blow open the eighty-centimeter-thick titanium alloy steel plate. It could only be opened from the outside with a key obtained from the highest-ranking officer. Ye Tian was clearly playing for keeps.
After a bout of tapping, the computer screen quietly flashed with a white cursor, a sign that data was waiting to be exported.
Ye Tian’s physical condition wasn’t too bad, but after significant exertion, it still took a toll. He pulled out two adrenaline injections from the medicine box and stuck them into his vein, feeling his strength return as his spirits lifted considerably.
"Did you come here for these data?"
"Doctor, you’d better keep your distance. Your taekwondo must be black belt level, those muscles on your legs aren’t something an ordinary person could achieve."
When searching himself just now, Ye Tian had carefully felt his own legs, causing her face to turn red.
"Do you think all this is worth it?"
Ye Tian leaned back in his chair, legs on the table, a position that could ease the pressure of blood on his toes and reduce blood loss somewhat since the bandages were not omnipotent. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"Some things are not understood by outsiders. How do you know these actions are not worth the consequences? Many things can’t simply be explained by whether they’re worth it or not."
"But you don’t need to go to such extremes to solve them!"
Ye Tian opened his eyes, looking at her somewhat playfully, "You’re probably thinking I’ve caused you trouble. Bringing you here technically warrants dismissal, and there’s a good chance you’ll end up in prison, right?"
Chen Ting began to feel somewhat helpless at these words. The reason was simple: her every thought seemed to have been seen through by this man, and she was beginning to regret why she had to encounter this former pride of the Dragon Team, as it was simply seeking her own doom. What was the point!
Seeing Ye Tian watching the computer screen unblinkingly, Chen Ting walked over curiously, only to be met with his suspicious gaze, "You don’t need to be so wary of me, you’re the legendary pride of the Dragon Team, are you really afraid that I’ll make a move against you?"
Ye Tian nodded, "Yes, I truly am afraid. You don’t know. When I was in Tianhe, I took in a girl about your age whose family had all died, killed by me. But I’m such a wretched person, you know? I thought since she was so pitiable, why not be charitable, not for my sake but for the sake of accumulating merit for my children. So I took her in, but in the end," Ye Tian shook his head, his expression pained, followed by a nonchalant demeanor, "Let’s leave it at that, you can guess the outcome."
"She stabbed you, didn’t she."
"Look at you, clever."
Ye Tian glared at her and then focused back on the blinking cursor on the computer screen, "This lousy computer of yours really ought to be replaced; why is it taking so long for the data to come out?"
"That’s your personal issue. Whenever I use it, it works just fine."
Ye Tian didn’t bother with him, clicking the mouse again to refresh, but the cursor kept blinking, with nothing popping up.
Suddenly, Ye Tian realized that the network had been cut off. The alarm system here was connected to the network system, and the dismantling of the network was even faster than tripping the breaker.
Damn! Ye Tian leapt from his chair and hurried to another computer to start a tense flurry of typing. The computers here had an internal network, each connected independently; every person had to establish separate links. The possibility of internal traitors always exists wherever people are, thus it was structured to prevent data leaks and hacking as much as possible.
Watching Ye Tian typing intently, Chen Ting suddenly thought that this man looked quite handsome when he was serious, of course, if his shabby clothes were replaced with an Armani outfit, and if the stubble on his face was shaved clean.
The screen displayed "Connecting" and Ye Tian breathed a little easier, indicating that the internal network of the computer wasn’t down; as long as he hurried, he could still manage to extract the data he needed.
Waiting, watching, finally with a "ding," Ye Tian saw several portraits of individuals gradually unfold across the screen, from top to bottom, five people, with details about them next to their heads, including birth, family, spouses, and all relevant family matters – every little thing displayed on this screen.
However, the further down he scrolled, the more astonished he became. Of the five people, he recognized at least two, one being Old Man Mo whom he had dealt with many times. That ever-smiling, kind old man who vied with his own granddaughter for the TV.
He was one of the masterminds behind this plot! How could this be! Impossible! Ye Tian’s mind suddenly seemed unable to keep up. Slowly, he started to recall the whole affair from his time in Huaizhou, to his confrontation with Lei Bao, the sudden appearance of the Mo Family sisters, and later Mo Yan abandoning him in Tianhe for slow tempering, to finally being left in Beiping and up until he was caught here. They had countless opportunities to end him... to bring him to justice, but why did they allow him to live until now? Was it really just to make him suffer more, to endure more hardship? Play with me?
Ye Tian’s mind truly couldn’t handle it, especially when he thought of Mo Yan, and the care his granddaughter and the old man showed him on normal days, it gave him a headache. If it were a stranger, he wouldn’t hesitate to chop down the fiercest of adversaries, but faced with these once-familiar faces, Ye Tian really... couldn’t bring himself to do it!
"What’s wrong?"
Noticing something seemed off with Ye Tian’s emotions, Chen Ting slowly approached, and upon seeing that he indeed hadn’t noticed her, she finally assuredly reached forward, eager to see who on the computer screen could shock this legendary figure from the Dragon Team to such an extent. The result surprised her too – whether it was any of these individuals, they were all unreachable figures for her, looking at their military ranks, the lowest was a Lieutenant General, prominent figures from both military and political spheres were on that list.
