The Beautiful Boss's Personal Bodyguard-Chapter 387
Chapter 387: 387
"Where’s Mo Yan?"
Old Man Mo was sitting in the courtyard sunbathing on a chair, still in his languid posture. He opened his sleepy eyes to look at him and said, "She’s asleep inside. She came back this time to discuss something with you."
"Let’s talk about that later. I have something I want to ask her now."
"Hey, you’ve come back, and the matter I’m talking about is exactly what she wants to discuss with you. Come here, I’ll tell you, it’s definitely good news."
Looking at the sincere expression on Old Man Mo’s face, and thinking of Mo Yan who had taken a plane just to come back and sleep, Ye Tian still managed to suppress his longing for Tang Su, retreating step by step back into the yard, standing next to Old Man Mo, "Does she have news of Susu?"
"I don’t know about that, but the thing she wants to discuss with you is more important than that."
"Then it’s not important."
Ye Tian’s firm tone caught Old Man Mo off guard, but the old man didn’t get worked up, still lying on the chair, looking at the sky, unhurriedly saying, "The smog today isn’t too severe, got to sunbathe before I grow mold!"
"You still have the leisure for that."
"Aren’t you leisurely enough to go out and have fun with my granddaughter?"
As Old Man Mo opened his eyes and saw Mo Yu following behind, he knew what was going on. Plus, Ye Tian reeked of alcohol, so he figured that not only did the two go out for fun, but drinking was definitely part of it.
Ye Tian’s face changed slightly as he muttered, "It’s your granddaughter who came to me first, not the other way around."
"Hmph, does it make a difference? At the end of the day, you’re the one with my granddaughter. Whether you sought her out or she sought you out, what’s the big difference?"
Ye Tian waved his hand, "Don’t beat around the bush with me. If you’ve got something to say, then say it...ugh."
"The rest of that sentence is ’If you’ve got a fart, let it out’?"
Ye Tian wanted to say "yes," but felt it wasn’t right, so he didn’t, "Just get to the point, will you?"
"Mo Yan went abroad this time, just got back."
Ye Tian was taken aback, I know that, then waited for him to continue, yet the old man just stayed silent, squinting at the gray sun.
Won’t you speak?
"Hey, kid, do you think the sun in Angola might be better?"
How the hell would I know what the sun in Angola looks like...hmm? Ye Tian’s mind started to race.
"Old Man Mo, you better not be saying I should go..."
"I have that in mind, but I need to get your opinion first. Hey, Yu, go, go play with your sister in the room."
Old Man Mo called Mo Yu into the room, inevitably getting rolled eyes, but he had thick skin and didn’t mind. He just saw that Ye Tian obviously was uncooperative, which somewhat displeased him.
"Kid, don’t think I’m bullying you. This is an opportunity for you, do you know how many people are eyeing this spot? Do you know how many can’t even fight for this position? I’m arranging this for your safety and so you can bring back greater merits to serve as your talisman. How can you not appreciate it?"
"Hmph, you’d let me have it if it’s such a good opportunity? Old Man Mo, don’t think I don’t know anything, I see right through your little schemes. Forget it, I won’t talk to you anymore. I’m going to find Mo Yan. You always try to trick me, you old rascal."
As Old Man Mo watched Ye Tian about to leave, and heard what he said, he slammed the armrest of his chair, "Hey, you ungrateful brat!"
Just as Ye Tian was about to enter the house, Mo Yan and Mo Yu, the Mo sisters, appeared at the doorway.
Mo Yan gazed at Ye Tian, who was wearing a somewhat disheveled black coat, her eyes flashing with a complex look, but it was fleeting, and she soon regained her usual composure and steadiness, "Come with me abroad. Think about it, and once you’ve decided, give me your answer. I’ll take care of the arrangements here; you just have to tell me whether you’re coming or not."
Ye Tian wasn’t in a hurry to respond, but instead took a moment to ponder the situation. Why had Mo Yan hurried to send him away as soon as she got back from abroad?
"Let’s talk about this in a couple of days, you’ll be staying here for the New Year anyway. I have just one request, let me see Susu. No matter her condition, I must see her. You were the one who said you could cure her. Don’t forget what you promised about the best medicines and offerings from a certain country. It’s been a month now, you either avoid the topic or flee the country. What’s the meaning of this? Give me a straightforward answer!"
"Why are you being so fierce? What’s the big deal about having a wife!" Mo Yu blurted out.
Ye Tian ignored him and continued, "We had a deal, I risk my life, and you save people. Now you’ve abandoned me here, so am I supposed to fend for myself? Fine. It’s just my rotten life, but Susu is different. Can’t I even take one look at her?"
Mo Yan shook her head, "No. The poison she was exposed to last time has eroded her central nervous system, and she has forgotten a large part of her memory. It’s crucial not to see familiar people from the past, to remember familiar things. You were the most important person in her life. If she sees you now, or accidentally catches sight of you, her condition could worsen dramatically and her life would be at great risk. I hope you can understand."
"Cut the crap. You use these tricks from TV dramas to deceive people and you’ve almost got them down pat. You’re clearly stalling for time."
"You don’t believe me?" Mo Yan’s eyebrows arched, and she crossed her arms over her chest – a gesture common to confident people but also indicative of a lack of confidence.
Ye Tian couldn’t be sure of her thoughts, nor could he confirm if Tang Su was indeed as she described, suffering from memory issues. In fact, the possibility had already crossed his mind. Liu Haiju had told him about the possible nervous system issues, which could lead to memory deterioration or outright memory loss. It appeared that Mo Yan’s words were half-truths.
"You say she can’t see me, then I won’t approach her. Can’t I just take a distant look? Or you can show me the footage of her treatment. I’ll just watch, I promise I won’t speak to her!"
Ye Tian’s cautious attitude collapsed at that moment; he subconsciously believed Mo Yan’s words. Or rather, he preferred to believe that Tang Su was alive and well at Mo Yan’s place, receiving treatment, slowly recovering, even if it would take some time. But life was being restored, and health was improving bit by bit.
