Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts-Chapter 848: Truth
"It's called Innate Ability."
"Innate Ability?" This was the first time Selena and Sera had heard about this terminology. Meanwhile, Flora, who was raised to be the future sovereign, obviously knew what Nathan was talking about.
After all, she had studied Elysion Aquamoon, a person who could threaten the entire kingdom. And that was solely because he could make three death gods his lifebound familiar.
The ability that allowed him to possess such a unique qualification was called Innate Ability.
But it was precisely because she had this knowledge that she was more shocked than anyone else.
She couldn't help but trip and fall to her butt, her face turning pale. "I-Innate Ability?!"
"Do you know something, Flora?" Selena asked while Sera nodded, wanting to know about this so-called Innate Ability.
"Yes. However, there's not much information regarding the Innate Ability, due to how rare it is. Even in history, there was only one more person recorded to have an Innate Ability.
"In other words, if Nathan's claim is correct, he is the third person to have an Innate Ability in the history of this world.
"No one can really describe what an Innate Ability is other than the fact that it's something unique that you possess since your birth.
"For Elysion Aquamoon, his Innate Ability is known to allow him to contract multiple familiars into his lifebound familiars.
"It's thanks to that Innate Ability that his death power has become too strong to the point where no one can really fight against him. It's the power that brings him to the very top of the world."
"What?!" Selena and Sera dropped their jaws. They looked at Nathan, not expecting Nathan to have something this unique. Selena raised her head. "Then… is that Innate Ability related to how you're able to summon a beast familiar?"
Flora gasped. That was right. Innate Ability was the only one that could describe such a phenomenon.
"I don't know. I don't think it is, but there's no explanation about my beast familiars yet." Nathan shook his head while raising one hand. He formed a blank contract. "My Innate Ability is Soul Contract. I can make a contract with basically anything.
"Selena probably saw it first. I could use the wind element when defeating the teacher on that tropical island. At that time, I made a contract with the wind to allow me to use its power for a certain period.
"And this time, I used it on Absolute Ice Element."
"!!!" Selena's body shook.
"This…" Sera covered her mouth in shock.
"A period of time? Then, does that mean you don't have any elements right now?"
"Yes. The contract has expired, so I can't use absolute ice again. Of course, I can make another contract if necessary."
Flora squinted her eyes. "Wait. Is this Innate Ability that convenient? You just have to make a contract? But a contract is supposed to benefit two parties, right? What kind of benefit does the element get by having a contract with you? This must be the price you have to pay, right?"
"Ah!" The other two finally realized it wasn't as powerful as they thought.
Nathan nodded. "For the time being, I paid with my ena most of the time. I'm still experimenting with it myself, so I can't really explain much about the Soul Contract itself."
"For example? How much ena did you pay for the absolute ice?"
"Thanks to our current situation, I ended up paying less, but I was able to control an absolute ice element of that level for thirty minutes for 20,000 ena. I paid it with the ena in my body and, well, the magazines as well. I was able to extract their ena to a certain extent."
"20,000 ena?" Flora gasped. On the one hand, it didn't look expensive for someone at Arcane Level or even World Level, but for a Grandmaster Summoner like Nathan, it was a heavy price to pay.
Of course, they didn't miss what Nathan said earlier regarding the level of the absolute element. In other words, he could use even more powerful absolute ice with more ena.
"No, wait. Doesn't this mean you're able to use all kinds of elements?" Flora asked in shock.
"Yeah." Nathan nodded.
They all were dumbfounded. If Nathan could use all kinds of elements, he could simply get everything he wanted. Now that Selena thought about it, Nathan had used it on three elements: wind, absolute ice, and time.
"Well, I hope you don't ask much about my Innate Ability, because I might not be able to answer that question since I don't know the answer myself. For now, I'm still in the middle of experimenting with my ability. Charlotte is helping me from time to time as well."
"That's understandable." Sera nodded. "Doesn't it look like we're pressuring you for an answer?"
"…" Selena looked down, not knowing what to say.
"Don't worry. I can understand why you want to keep it a secret. And if my father thinks it's an absolute ice element, it won't create as much trouble compared to an innate ability. Although it's a bit uncomfortable for not telling my father, you're going to be angry if this matter is known, so I'll respect your decision." Flora assured Nathan.
"Thank you." Nathan smiled. "For now, I have come up with several ways of utilizing my unique ability. The cloud-repelling device is one of them."
"What do you mean?" Flora tilted her head in confusion.
"Normally, it's not possible to embed an item with the power of elements, right?"
"Yes. Because they need the source of the element." Flora nodded.
"Well, I put it there and used the wind element to ease the ena required to blow away the cloud." Nathan raised one finger. "You can say that it's a versatile ability, but there are also restrictions such as knowledge, the amount of ena, or even the technology itself.
"However, I ask you to come here is not because I want to tell you about these usages. Instead, I want to discuss one particular usage. Selena has tried it… or should I say, Sasha?"
"!!!" Selena opened her mouth, finally understanding what was going on.
"Huh?" Flora and Sera looked at Selena, wondering what Sasha had done.
"With the contract, I can help you evolve your familiar."
"Evolve?!"
