After browsing the market for a while, Peter received a call from Reuben.
“Peter, where are you?
We’ve arrived.”
“You’re here too?” Peter was quite surprised.
“Quickly, tell me where you are.
We’re in the market right now.”
Peter then told them his location.
Soon enough, Peter met up with Reuben and Bennett.
“Peter, why did you leave so suddenly?
We wanted to thank you, but couldn’t find you!”
Bennett looked at Peter with gratitude.
No one understood better than Bennett how important Peter’s help was to the Thompson family.
If his father had died, the entire Thompson family would have been finished, and he would have lost his standing as one of the powerful heirs of the provincial city.
Hence, he was truly grateful to Peter from the bottom of his heart.
With a faint smile, Peter asked, “How’s your dad?”
“He’s already recovered.
He asked me to thank you on his behalf no matter what, and even said that he’ll make a trip to your village to personally express his gratitude.”
Peter just smiled and said, “It’s not a big deal.
Don’t bother with it if your dad is too busy with work.”
Such a noble person indeed!
Bennett was even more touched by Peter’s refusal of payment, and asked, “Weren’t you going to buy some medicinal herbs?
Did you buy them yet?”
“Not yet, I’m still looking.”
“I’ve got a good contact.
I can introduce you to them so you can get a much better deal.
Most importantly, there won’t be any counterfeit goods.”
Peter just smiled.
If he couldn’t distinguish counterfeit goods, then his inherited knowledge would have been in vain.
However, seeing the other party’s eagerness, Peter couldn’t bring himself to say anything.
At this time, Reuben asked, “Where are you staying?”
Peter then took them both to the place where he was staying.
Seeing Peter staying in such a simple place, Bennett said, “Why are you staying here?
Let me arrange a better place for you.
I have some connections here.”
Peter shook his head and said, “It’s good here.
It’s convenient for me to do things at night.”
“What kind of things?” Reuben curiously asked.
Peter casually explained, only realizing afterward that they were both ordinary people.
However, since he already mentioned it, Peter had no regrets.
He thought that it was just going to be a look.
Telling them wouldn’t hurt, so he pointed to the house in front of them and said, “There’s a courtyard there where the feng shui is messed up.
I saw a Taoist priest today who said he would perform a sacrificial ceremony there tonight.
I plan to go watch.”
Bennett, who was used to a sheltered life, was very curious about strange things, so he said excitedly, “I want to go see it too.”
Peter warned, “It’s not very safe in there.
It could be dangerous.”
“Take us to have a look!” Bennett really wanted to see it.
Peter thought for a moment, then gave them each a jade talisman.
“This is a protective talisman.
Keep it on you for some extra protection.”
Reuben took it and examined it, asking, “What’s it for?”
Peter just smiled and said, “You’ll know when the time comes.” ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
Bennett also received the protective talisman, and admired Peter even more.
He earnestly placed the jade talisman in his jacket pocket.
After dinner, the three of them waited together.
As time passed, Peter saw that it was already eleven o’clock and said to the others, “Let’s go.”
The three of them carefully headed towards the courtyard.
Upon arriving, Peter saw that a car was already parked outside, so the priest should have entered already.
“They’ve gone in.
Follow me.”
After saying that, Peter led the way inside.
The courtyard was pitch-black with no lights at all.
As they entered, they discovered that it was a large place with several courtyards inside.
The three of them carefully walked towards the inner compound.
“Peter, where are the people?”
Peter replied, “At the innermost part.
They should have started the sacrificial ceremony.”
Indeed, as they entered another small courtyard, they saw some light up ahead.
It wasn’t an electric light, but an emergency light placed on the ground.
Upon closer inspection, there was a worship table with sacrificial items on it.
A middle-aged man in a Taoist robe was waving a peach blossom sword, and there were two other reverent-looking men standing by his side.
“He’s really performing a sacrificial ceremony!”
Bennett whispered.
Peter glanced at the building and said, “Be careful.
They’re coming out soon.”
It was nearly midnight, the time when evil spirits would appear.
Peter held two jade talismans in his hand, unsure of how powerful the evil spirits in this place had become.
Clearly, Master Wilson knew that the evil spirits would appear at this time as well.
He moved in a unique pattern while swinging the peach blossom sword even faster.
At that moment, the surroundings suddenly became colder.
As the temperature dropped, gusts of cold Yin wind began blowing around them, and the azure sky became covered by dark clouds, making everything even darker.
“It’s so cold!”
Reuben trembled.
Peter looked at their conditions and patted each of them once, injecting his True Qi into their bodies.
The two of them finally felt some warmth.
“What’s going on?” Bennett’s face changed.
Looking inside, the emergency light hadn’t gone out, but Peter could already see several evil spirits appearing.
A bone-chilling voice suddenly rang out.
“Die!”
With just that single word, the evil spirits lunged towards Master Wilson.
“Go to hell!”
Master Wilson’s peach blossom sword danced even faster, and he began to use yellow talisman papers.
The talisman papers emitted Yang energy as they appeared, dispersing the evil spirits in an instant.
He actually has some skills!
Peter nodded secretly, knowing that Master Wilson was no ordinary person.
However, Peter knew in his heart that Master Wilson was probably in danger today.
After all, this first batch was not the strongest of the evil spirits.
As expected, another chilling scream emanated from the area, followed by the appearance of a huge spirit.
Ah!
Bennett’s eyes widened as he stared at the evil spirit, trying to scream but finding that he couldn’t make a sound.
Reuben was in a similar state as he stared at the towering evil spirit, feeling extremely uncomfortable.
Peter chuckled, and once again gave them some True Qi to help them regain their strength.
At this point, Master Wilson was already engaged in battle with the towering evil spirit.
A flurry of talisman papers flew out, clashing with the ghost’s massive hands.
However, Peter could clearly see that Master Wilson’s yellow talisman papers were not very effective.
Inside the courtyard, the resentful aura was reaching its peak, as more and more evil spirits appeared in the sky.
The two police officers were clearly terrified, even dropping their guns on the ground and shaking uncontrollably.
