Suddenly, I Am Rich-Chapter 51: Preparation For The Meeting
Chapter 51: Preparation For The Meeting
The next day quickly arrived.
Gray had a good sleep. He went to bed early in the morning just to prepare for today’s event.
It was already 11 in the morning. Lily left more than an hour ago for school. She looked so happy, even waving and bouncing up and down as she left on her own.
And now, Gray was left alone in their apartment. The clock was ticking in the kitchen louder than usual.
Gray let out a sigh.
Today was the day.
Finally, the day.
He was informed yesterday that the handover meeting would take place after lunch. The store would only operate in the morning and would be closed for the rest of the day. They even informed the customers early in the morning today that they would only operate for half of the day.
Marcus handled everything that was needed. Gray didn’t even need to worry or help. Marcus made sure that he oversaw everything, making sure that the handover meeting would be a success.
Marcus said that all he needed to do was learn the files and show up for the meeting later on
Gray had read everything. He read every folder and document that Marcus gave to him. He went through sales reports, staff details, maintenance request, and even feedback from customers over the past few months.
Gray was confident in himself. He was well prepared.
However, aside from the technical aspects, he also needed to prepare one more thing. His appearance.
It might sound shallow to some, but Gray knew that appearance plays a factor. He had seen it enough, especially after working in different fields, where he could see and interact with people.
How you looked mattered a lot.
Appearance wasn’t just about looking good. It was about presence.
It was the first thing people noticed when you walked into a room—your posture, your clothes, and the way you carried yourself. They were like silent statements that speak who you are without even uttering a word.
If he walked into that meeting in jeans, a plain shirt, and scuffed sneakers, the staff wouldn’t take him seriously. Heck, he might not even be allowed inside.
’I really wonder who gave that suit,’ Gray thought before walking back to his room. In his bed was the opened box. The black suit inside was still untouched.
Even now, Gray still wasn’t sure who sent it. He thought that Chloe or Emily would message him yesterday, but they didn’t.
took his time getting dressed. The charcoal gray shirt slipped on smoothly. The blazer rested perfectly on his shoulders.
’Oh well, I’ll eventually know it.’ Gray sighed and took the clothes out of the box. He carefully laid everything on the bed before taking a shower and dressing up afterwards.
He took his time getting dressed since he wasn’t used to dressing up in formal outfits.
Gray was surprised when he realized that the clothes perfectly fit him. The charcoal gray shirt slipped on smoothly on his body, and the outer blazer rested well on his shoulders.
"Damn I look divine."
Gray muttered out loud when he saw himself in the mirror. He looked clean and expensive.
Gray reached for the bottle of perfume he bought last night. It was expensive. The scent was clean and earthy. He sprayed once on his wrist and sprayed more on his collar.
"I should make my purchase worth it by using this perfume every day."
Gray stood straight and took a long breath. He met his own yes on the mirror and nodded to himself.
"Alright, I’m ready."
Gray gave himself one last look in the mirror, then stepped away from it with a small exhale.
He wasn’t done just yet.
From the top drawer of his nightstand, he pulled out a simple silver watch. One that he got for so long, it can be considered an artifact.
Gray read an article last night titled "Five Small Things That Make You Look More Professional". In the article, wearing a good watch was one of them.
"I can’t believe I’m doing all of this," he muttered as he clasped it around his wrist.
With time to spare, Gray headed back to the kitchen. He didn’t want to go into the meeting on an empty stomach. He wasn’t sure how long it would last, and the last thing he wanted to happen was his stomach growling halfway through introductions.
Gray just made a light snack—just toast with peanut butter and a banana on the side. It wasn’t much, but it would do the trick.
As he ate, he opened his phone and reviewed the small self-introduction he drafted the night before. It was just something quick to say if he needed it. A few lines about who he was, what his role would be, and how he looked forward to working with everyone.
It sounded cheesy when he read it out loud, but he figured the intention mattered more than the delivery.
Afterward, he spent a few minutes sitting on the couch, letting his body rest. The weight of the suit on his shoulders felt strange but not uncomfortable.
When the clock on the wall struck 1:00 PM, Gray’s phone buzzed.
It was a message from Marcus.
[A car is waiting outside to pick you up. Take your time, Sir.]
"Finally... I’ve been waiting for so long." As soon as he read the message, Gray stood up, slid his phone into his pocket, and straightened his sleeves. Gray stood up, slid the phone into his pocket, and straightened his sleeves.
He won’t be carrying anything, aside from himself and his confidence.
Gray quickly stepped out and headed downstairs. As soon as he left the building, he froze.
Parked outside their apartment’s building was a car. It was a sleek black sports car that was shining under the afternoon sun. The car looked like something out of a luxury car magazine.
He has seen a couple of cars like that, but not one this close.
Gray didn’t even know the brand, only that the wheels alone would probably cost more than his monthly rent.
Before he could process it, the driver’s side door opened, and a man stepped out.
The man was dressed in a clean black suit; his posture was straight and polished. He walked around the front of the car and stopped in front of Gray to bow lightly.
"Good afternoon, Sir. I am Daniel, your assigned driver for today," the man uttered respectfully.
"...Right," Gray blinked.
